Topic: Th' Lesson Learn't
Hello...
This song is, ah
well i really cant explain it.
so er... enjoy.
id put it in the chopro format but i am far too lazy to look it up.
Live with it.
the intro, and in fact, most of the song goes like this:
|------x-x-x-x--------------
|------0-0-0-0-0h1p0------
|------0-0-0-0--------------
|------0-0-0-0-------------
|------2-2-2-2--------------
|--3-3-3-3-3-3--------------
Play that twice, then
|------0-0-0-0---------
|------0-0-0-0-0h1p0---
|------0-0-0-0---------
|------2-2-2-2---------
|--3-3-3-3-3-3---------
|-----------------------
play that twice, then repeat the first bit.
Its easier to remember if you just play a G chord without the top string, then hammer on/pull off the 6th, then play an C maj 7 and hammer on/pull off the 1st.
okay, then the prechorus and chorus are played a lot simpler:
The prechorus is just one G chord, held out until the vocals are done (you'll see later)
The chorus goes: G C G D G C Amin C then back to the verse. i'll show rythyms later.
Lyrics: these took me a while, and they have some symbolism in them, though none that are necessary for you all to live. So live with it. The part that goes "i'd give anything just to be with you" is the prechorus. the chord pattern for the chorus goes as such:
G
And our chapped
C
lips send each other
G
Promises of kisses
D
in the future
G
And I would never
C
let you go for
Am
All of Midas's gold.
C
All of his gold.
Well, enjoy.
Ev'ry time I try to start again
Make up for any time or words lost on the way
I have to think way back to the days when
We were together and things seemed complete
And then I realize that
That the tulips and a box of sharp objects
Made my life what it is today
And how I can get along with anything life throws at me
I'd give anything just to be with you.
And our chapped lips send each other
Promises of kisses in the future
And I would never let you go for
All of Midas's gold. All of his gold.
Too many times I've been turned away
Overall these feelings seem to want to stay
And still those tulips call from their window box
Telling me to move on and to find another
But how am I supposed to look again
When nobody can take me seriously
Besides the box of sharp objects
That tries but cant get involved in my affairs
I'd give anything to be with you.
And our chapped lips send each other
Promises of kisses in the future
And I would never let you go for
All of Midas's gold. All of his gold.
