Topic: user groups for multi effects.

I've been looking for a new multi effects processor, since the old one had a tiny drip of water in just the right spot that wiped it out. I've checked out the digitech rp line a while back and read something about USB connectivity and thought I read something about a user group where patches can be exchanged. Does anyone have this unit or something with similar features?

Re: user groups for multi effects.

I have had Korg A-100 effects pedal since the early 90's. 60 preset sounds and 60 more I can write. I wrote only a dozen because the 60 preset effects about have me covered. It can get me an Eric Clapton sound or anybody's sound out of an old Gibson 330 through any amp or P.A. I just wish I could play like those guys.
It is a great way to change up the sound of a short handed band.
These days, I primarily play rhythm for one singer, my grandson Casey. He loves to help me pick out guitar effects  for all his new songs. His repitore goes from AC/DC to Johnny Cash.
I thought I didn't need that Korg pedal when I bought it but I gotta have it now. It makes that Gibson really holler.

We pronounce it "Guf Coast".
Ya'll wanna go down to the Guf?

Re: user groups for multi effects.

I have a Digitech RP-500 that I think is just awesome. You've got a 100 preset channels and 100 channels that you can program with up to 5 effects each plus amp and cabinet modelling for each of the 100 channels, plus a programmable expression pedal for each channel. I really can't say enough about it.  Every effect and setting is easily adjusted via usb to your computer.  Includes bypass button and a built in tuner.  Can't beat it.   I've done the "buy the distortion pedal, then buy the wah pedal then compressor the flanger then chorus etc. etc. etc.
This is a great alternative if you're done with what I've gone through to find the best compliment to your sound.  No I don't work for them.  I do play acoustic and electric guitars on stage and this one tool lets me do a variety of thing with just one very comprehensive processor. I haven't played with the RP-1000 yet.  There's still too much available on the RP-500.

Now available in 5G !

Re: user groups for multi effects.

I'm digging my Line 6 Pocket Pod. USB connectivity, downloadable tones, user created tones, battery powered (although not for long), LCD screen all for around $100 US. Line 6 gets some bad press but I love the pod. Big fun short money. It may not sound good enough for the purists but those folks are never happy. If you want to sound exactly like a vintage Fender tube amp...then go buy one otherwise buy a Pod product. There's even a cheaper one now (Pod Express maybe?). I have heard good things about Digitech as well.

I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.

Re: user groups for multi effects.

Hello All :

This my 1st. post here smile

I am a pro musician , I have recorded and played with rock-n-roll - rock-a-billys , blues & jazz and c/w heavys in the music biz . I play bass , electric and acoustic guitars , keyboard , drums , trumpet and diatonic and chromatic harmonicas and I sing a tad too .

I have a GNX4 Digitech  it's out of production ( sadness ) but there are many available in music stores online and off . I paid $ 500.00 for it -- Now don't flip out cause this is a one stop do it all DAW besides a digital FX possessor .

USB

10 really super stomps including a Ibanez Tube Screamer ( with the exact IC Chipset that Ibanez used ) and 9 other essential stomps .

FX engine has Lexicon reverbs plus all the other ones that modern Rockers have to have PLUS it has a single XLR w/phantom power for mics that need it for serious vocal & acoustic guitar and other instruments like violins and diatonic & chromatic harmonicas  .

It's a stand alone two channel at once recorder ( or one at a time ) and up to 4 channels at once via the USB and a pc/mac .

It has the ability to actually mix down to a final two channel .wav from the 8 channels . It can bounce a set of channels to one or two channels so you can to keep on recording more if you need more channels and then export it to a computer to finish it in a mp3 or ......

I use a 2 gig CF memory card , that's the biggest it can recognize . I can record with the mic input an entire practice session or a live gig with it in mono for 6 plus hours or 3 plus hours in stereo .

This only a small portion of what this unit can do .

I have been super happy with this unit too as far as it's workmanship and the service for this bad boy no matter what the .... is wrong , worse case scenario is $75.00 no matter if they have to gut it and replace everything to get it to it's original working condition !

I have a Carvin 60 watt tube with great tone but not every tone I want  over all . The amp & cabinet modeling it has is something awesome to work with for example :

I have a love affair with the sound of a electric bass guitar played through a Ampeg SVT tube amp and cabinet :
< http://www.ampeg.com/products/classic/s … 10E_LG.jpg >

I can get that super sounding model of that sound out of my GNX4 I love it and can push it in stereo . This is again only a small part of it's ability .

For a one man solo ( I have been doing this now for about two years ) it's a hard act to beat .

It's a mixer too for live work . I plug into it from it's stereo line inputs and take the output from my Roland GR33 guitar synthesizer and I plug into a 500 watt stereo power amp and wow ....... vocal ,   electric bass guitar or electric guitar or both as well as all the midi synthesizer sounds all at once can be thrown down on live and looped ! I have not mentioned the midi drum machine , it's too extensive to write about .

Yes I can loop live alone , or use it live with a band , speaking of bands and practicing/jamming performing , I do it this Thursday with my friend " Chan Romero , do a google on this legendary rock-a-billy .

I'm going to "pitch " a few songs I have taken down and will take only my harps and harp mic , bass and electric guitars and plug directly into the P . A . because this unit has separate stereo outs :

two for guitar amps

and

two XLR mic outs so I can plug right into the P . A . Talk about traveling light !

When I do a show with him or others I do the same and add my guitar amps to the equation . I play with a tube amp ( Carvin X-60 ) and a x-tor amp ( Yamaha 50 watt ) , I usually don't play electric bass live but if I do , I use the 500 watt solid state stereo amp and X2 Peavy single 15" Black Widows and blow the roof off I love the bass I get crazy on it smile

There are similar units out there but to be honest they cost more and offer less than this unit , close but no cigar smile

If you want a really great DAW plus FX and more these units are selling ( get them while there are some left ) for $ 400.00 shipped from MusiciansFriend -Sweerwater to name only two , on Craig's list or Ebay they are selling too . I just got a Samson largeC01 condenser mic that needs phantom power to do it's thing smile I'm excited to record !

Sincerely :

Hurricane Ramon

Russel :

It is quite remarkable how these modeling units mimic so well the real deal stand alone amps & cabinets .

I started late in life on guitar and have been at it had and delicately at it now 10 years , I was 49 when I had a little miracle happen - - one I waited on patiently for 36 years after 2 one gallon sized glass milk bottle were smashed into my left chording hand and that at age 12 stopped my guitar playing that began at age 6 .  The last really painful sharp shard came out on my left ring finger and well I have been at it and it's working good .

These units like your Boss Me-50 and my GNX4 really have helped out big time in producing recordings on our own huh !

Re: user groups for multi effects.

Helped to be sure,I was not as unfortunate to suffer a major injury that you did and continued with my learning I kinda picked up the bass naturally since all the root 4th and 5th notes were available on the bottom two strings I did and still do keep it simple when adding a bass to my recordings and R&R when I first started learning to play was pretty much 145 with a 6th thrown in for the doo wop songs much like country easy arrangments and the effects have all been digitized and compacted from the old tape echo boxes and fuzz tones to todays gear smile

Re: user groups for multi effects.

Try the digitech EX-7.  It has to be the most powerful single effect I have seen!  It has 2 wahs, string synth, whammy, univibe, leslie, and jet flanger.  It even has all the vintage distortion stomp boxes to go with them.  Really cool unit.  I have a effect board with a huge amount of pedals, but this one is indispensable!:)
