Topic: Guitar And Voice

I recently became reacquainted with a high-school friend of mine, who had built himself a very nice library of Christian Music.

My friend has a very soft, charming and mellifluous voice, but being sort of a "devil's advocate". I asked him  last week: "If you had to, could you belt out a tune?"

"What do you mean, Bill?", he asked.

So I told him.....

He just could not "turn loose", yet he has this beautiful voice!

"Leave him alone, Bill!"

Right?

RIGHT!

Just thought I would ask! wink

Re: Guitar And Voice

I would give anything for a soft, charming and mellifluous voice.
Your friend is very fortunate.

Re: Guitar And Voice

Yeah, he is, Stonebridge, and so am I for having him as a friend.

I love to get to get together with him, but he's hard to follow, because he's a southpaw who doesn't reverse the strings!

I would like to feature some of his stuff on YouTube (he's hasn't done anything in that regard), but I am so clueless as how to upload something (someone had to do one of mine for me), that I can't help him much.

We have no video (unless there are some still shots available) to add to his music, so i would be just him and his voice.....

Can anyone give me a quick tutorial?

I'd appreciate it!

Re: Guitar And Voice

hi siggi one thing you could try is using movie maker and find photos that fit his song and make a  slide show or get a web cam there are some that dont cost a arm and a leg and do a fair job of it or take some photos of him and add it to the slide show imagination go's far good luck smile

Agree with Russell.  You can use Windows Movie Maker and some photos and sound files to put together a movie file (WMV file) which readily uploads to Youtube.  You need to start an account (channel) on Youtube to upload.  IF you need help starting Windows Movie Maker click on the Start button at the bottom of your screen then click on All Programs, then click on Accessories and see if the application is listed there.  That's where I found it.   It's really quite intuitive once you have a sound file to attach.  Good luck and keep us posted.

My wife and I joke about "she can really belt it out", because so many think it is a complement.  It is a style.  Some people do well with that style, while others do not.  It is also a style that has been grossly overdone in recent years, especially if you listen to Country music or to Alternative Rock (about which I am still trying to figure out what the alternative is because it sounds like the same four chords in the same order as regular old Rock to me).

Wow Zurf ,
You are so right ... I could'nt "belt out" a tune if my life depended on it ... Maybe that's why my music partner and I work out so well together , he does the belting out kind of stuff and I do the rest ... I sing backup for him and he sings backup for me and people tell us that it works really well ... A little aggravating when we're setting up PA though and his mic channel is set on three and mine is always set on eleven , L O L ....

Re: Guitar And Voice

There is no secret to belting out a tune just imagine yourself singing to some people across the street without a microphone, its the same as shouting you cant shout without useing your diaphram to force the air out of your lungs the same technique is applied in singing it takes practice but anyone can belt a tune out if they can shout smile
