Topic: Help with Audio

Hello,

I need some help, I have a video that I would like to use the Audio and make a new slide show video. Do I need to convert it to a MP3 file. The program I am using requires me to make the slide show and then add the audio file.
So all I want to use is the audio from the existing video, and make a slide show.

Thanks,

Please type responses slow, cause I can't read very fast.

Re: Help with Audio

That is a good question separate the audio from the video, where did you get the audio source to add to the video in the first place? is it a live performance or a recording? if it was added to a video like in movie maker on windows it would be separate and if you saved the original data that movie maker asks you for after publishing to your computer you can open that up and delete the video and it wil save the audio to a file that can be brought back and added to the new slide show if not I cant see how you can delete the video without deleting the audio maybe someone else like Doug or Ridder have more experience with this smile

Re: Help with Audio

Hey Russ,

It is a video I made with a camcorder, but I just want to use the audio portion of it. I know it can be done, I will have to do a little more research I guess.

Re: Help with Audio

Hi wlbaye
I think the audio only could be recorded using Audacity.

This thread in Recording gives the general idea..

Re: Help with Audio

If you have video editing, you may find that the audio track from the video is recorded separately from the video signal.   If you have a digital camcorder, you should be able to open up the video for editing, and simply copy the audio directly out of the application.

Another option is to play the video and record the audio output separately.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: Help with Audio

Thanks Jerome,

I downloaded a free program called switch that converts Mp4 to Mp3  it only took about 5 minutes for the whole process. They also offered a option of saving the video and removing the audio. I think I have everything covered now. Now to piece together the slide show. All these formats and recording tricks make my poor old head spin at times.

Thank You,
