Not bad for a 300 year old piece of music;

Classical allusions in guitar soloing are not unknown. Listen to Jimi Hendrix's Woodstock performance and you'll hear shards of Rodrigo's guitar concerto (or rather if you know it you'll recognise it)...
Hi There
dont quite see what you find weird here its a guy from Korea called Funtwo who has taken the Jerry C canon rock arrangement and in my humble opinion plays it better than Jerry......sure some of the sweeps are not to clever and a bit jumbled at times but its a pretty mean effort although I believe he has changed the key to C rather than the original D.There is also a fantastic version by a young guy called Mattrach who puts his own identity and style on the piece.
Not trying to be critical I just cant see what is so weird maybe I have missed the point somewhere....anyway good luck and tight strings
Perhaps not germaine to this thread, but "Emo farm" might just be the funniest thing I have seen on YouTube. Also has some classic good ol' country tunes in the soundtrack . . .
