as for the song  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border=0 alt="Rolling Eyes">  I like the wee lead guitar bit.

It really does need lyrics!!


but all in, for fun it was good. I would have rated it 5 but I just got a big screen and a play option, nowhere to rate it


and I noticed the uke in there not getting played properly, get him to learn the chords and play along

Hey Altex . . . love the tune & the riff, love the video!  I've got the tune in my head now and may take a stab at coming up with few apt words (with your permission, of course).


On another recent songwriting thread there was an exchange regarding the meaning of the phrase 'hot monkey love'.  I think it would be a fun challenge for me to craft a 'hot monkey love' lyric set to your dandy tune - would that be OK?

Please let me know . . .


Also, I gotta say that I was a bit worried that the acoustic guitar on the floor would end up as kindling as y'all were leaping around . . . looks like a veteran instrument and that would be a sorry end for such a relic.

Yeah that seems ok but I dont think my parents will be too happy with the lyrics (im only 13) if you can tone it down a bit it would be good. The Chords are as follows:


The intro and verse chords Em G A C which are repeated to the chorus.


The chorus is G D Am Em repeated (you should be able to figure it out)

The lead part is pretty easy to figure out, its just on Em pentatonic scales.


The Chords through the solos are the same as the chorus


Oh yeh, the bridge chords are Bm, Em, D, C then the second time through its Bm, Em, D, G.


In the Chorus while playing the chords you can add the 3rd fret on the high E (which is a G) string in some spots.


And one last thing, the music wasn't just written by me, it was written by my friend Damo (He plays the chords on the Yamaha PACIFICA  while I play lead, he also is miming on the uke.) aswell, he wrote the chords for the intro and the verses and I wrote the bridge and chorus and the lead part. This a collabaration of all the Chord patterns that were in Em that we had written, the only completley new parts were the bridge and the little lead riff.


Thats about it, it was the best we could do with our equipment(i play a crappy monterey SG copy), do you know what the problem with my wah pedal is? It wasn't on distortion on the video yet it distorted, it also isnt very bitey, it doesnt go tinny enough (its kinda hard to explain) If you could help me it would be great.

Thanks for the chords Altex - I shall get it all figured out in a day or two and post along with 'toned down/cleaned up' lyric.  Will also make sure all the writing credits are correct.


You're exactly right - I hadn't considered your age and how your parents might feel about the song's subject (rather stupid of me since I have a young son myself).  Perhaps 'hot monkey love' is an altogether wrong topic for this effort - - - I'll come up with something better.

Altex - I'm working on the new/improved lyric (I'm guessing the original 'Hot Monkey Love' version will only be available on your highly-prized underground bootleg demo).


My approach for this next version is at the opposite end of the spectrum - rather than hormone-crazed, I'm going for something without any hot monkeys . . .

I had an idea today at school: If I send you the song as a wav file in an attachment in an email you could put it on your recording software (I think you have audicity) and record you singing the words and we would have a completre song!

My initial thoughts on 'Hot Monkey Love' were to write new lyrics to a well known Stones song but doubling up on the first two lines. It started like this:-


I can't get no satisfaction,

I can't get the right reaction,

I just want my honey dove,

To make with me Hot Monkey Love.

But I tried and I tried and tried and I tried,

I can't get no, no, no, no, no Monkey Love.


It did not really flow and I got stuck there I'm afraid so I was waiting for the other, more prolific lyricists, Like yourself, Ken and ZombiE to mention but a few to come up with some ideas.

Glad you like the new lyric, Altex - coming up with words gets a little easier the more you try.  Just saw your previous post about recording the lyric.  Yes, I have Audacity (because it's free), but I do not yet have a microphone - so it doesn't do me much good.


Anyway, I sort of wrote the 'So Vulnerable' lyric with you (or somebody about your age) in mind.  I'm way too geezerly and oblivious to be vulnerable!


At your school there has got to be somebody who wants to sing (they might even be female!).  Ask around beyond your immediate friends and I bet you can find discover an aspiring vocalist who would relish the opportunity to record an original song.


Don't know how soon I'll be able to afford the microphone I want . . . it's not that it's that expensive, it's just that there are several other household priorities that must take precedence to Daddy's hobby.

Hehe, anyway yeah im looking for some one to sing it. The problem is Damo reckons words spoil any song so ill have to try to convince him. I wont be on chordie for a while because my computer is stuffing up (Im using one at school).

One more Question, when I printed of the lyrics they printed off unformmatted so the chords werent above the lyrics. How do I over come this problem?
