Topic: Newest member of the herd!

Just pulled the trigger on a new acoustic/electric! She's a S&P Showcase Rosewood AER model. Canadian Spruce top, Solid EIR back and sides, Maple bindings with AER dual source concealed electronics... I've got a '95 S&P Pro Rosewood & a '95 Pro Curly Maple and love them. I had a Seagull Artist Rosewood last year but traded it for a Taylor 314e after about 6 months because the string spacing at the bridge was too wide for my taste. I loved the guitar tonally though, so I had been searching for a new S&P Showcase, since it's essentially the same guitar with a slightly narrower neck & spacing.  Found it almost mint (1 small scratch on the side, hardly noticeable) for 1/3 the price of a new one! Gotta love ebay sometimes smile A few pics from the dealer for now and I'll post a full review after she arrives.

Re: Newest member of the herd!

Congrats Pix - If she sounds half as purtty as she looks she'll be a keeper! I love New Guitar Day more than my Birthday and Christmas combined.

Rule No. 1 - If it sounds good - it is good!

Re: Newest member of the herd!

Hey Guitarpix,

Georgeous looking guitar!

If she sounds as good as she looks ............ can I have a go?

Since my new one I have a new appreciation of woods and their finishes.

By the by, how do you import pictures?

Re: Newest member of the herd!

Thanks for the kind words every one!

Tops, I know what you mean! Probably because on Birthdays and Christmas I'm reminded by the wife of the New guitar days I've had through the year smile Kind of puts a damper on whatever plans I've been skeemin wink

Kajima, of course you can have a go! My home is always welcome to any fellow chordians! It might be cheaper for you to just buy one though smile That's a bit of a trip to make for a test run! I'm curious about your guitar! I'll have to look into them.. I'm not familiar with the company. I sent you an Email...

Micky, Yea it was a steal (IMO) Picked it up for $511.00 Not bad considering they go for around $1300 new. So it wasn't quite 1/3 but close.. I'm confident it will be a good one but if not I can always resale...

Re: Newest member of the herd!

Well...It came in Wednesday and upon inspection it had a very light finish crack down the center.  It's only visible with the right light and angle.  The battery had been left in during shipping and it had came loose and bounced around inside the guitar during transit... I pulled off the strings and inspected the inside with a light and mirror and all the internal structure was fine. I believe the battery just happened to hit the right spot and caused the finish crack to appear. I'm going to add a cleat or 2 to insure the integrity of the glue joint, just incase.
The good news is that she is a keeper!! She plays and sounds wonderfully! I contacted the seller and they were more than understanding and I was offered compensation. They gave me a refund of $161, so I ended up with only $350 in it smile Not bad...
A quick pic of the center crack posted below.

Overall, I'm very happy with the outcome! The flaw doesn't bother me, I'm a player not a collector smile -Pix
