Topic: Another New Year
This is the last in a trilogy of cheerful new year poems. Wouldn't it be great if the whole of this year [and forever more] could always be sunny and cheerful.
ANOTHER NEW YEAR BUVVY 01-01-09
A NEW YEAR HAS BEGUN
THE FIRST DAY HAS DAWNED
THE SUN IS SHINING HIGH
THE SKY IS ADORNED
THE MOOD IS BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL
THE PEOPLE WON’T BE FEARFUL
LETS’ NOT TALK OF GLOOM AND DOOM
RATHER FOCUS ON GRAN’S HEIRLOOM
CHERISH THE THOUGHT
THAT ALL CRIME SHALL COME TO NOUGHT
CRIME SHALL STAY AWAY
NEVER MIND ON ANOTHER DAY
BIRDS COME TO OUR GARDEN TO SING
SWAMBO RANG THEIR BELL
DING DING DING A’LING
THEIR BOWLS ARE FULL OF SEED
THEIR WATERS’ IN THE TROUGHS
LITTLE BIRDY FEET
STOMPED ALL OVER GREEN GRASS
SWIMMING IN OUR POOL
HOW WE LOVE – TO PLAY THE FOOL
SO IF THIS POEM OFFENDS
BY ITS’ SUNNY NATURE
TAKE IT BY THE TAIL
AND COMPARE IT TO THE HOLY GRAIL
WE WON’T BE PUSHED AROUND
I HAVE A HUGE HI-FI
WITH A MASSIVE SENS-SURROUND
LET’S HAVE NO TALK OF WAR
LET’S HAVE NO MISABUSED POWER
THIS LOVELY YEAR
WILL OPEN LIKE A FLOWER
