Hi baldguitardude, (dad?). Lol. 2nd attempt at a reply so hopefully this one will post. Looking at you tube vids and people have done modern songs and replaced the c chord with something else, I am not experienced or know enough about guitar yet to be able to do this. There are not many song books for the merlin and the ones there are are so boring and most of the songs online are religious folk Irish or traditional. Someone needs to make a song book with modern tunes. They would make a fortune! So basically looking for resources for songs for the merlin d more modern or how to replace the c chord?

Re: Is uke easier to learn than just a guitar? (4 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Yes is the simple answer! Coming from a family of guitarists and bass players I tried and tried growing up but no way was I going to be any good at guitar. Even bass. I picked up a pair of drum sticks and that was me. Now 30 years later the drums are a distant memory (due to shoulder and arm injury) and, determined to try again age 42, I bought a seagull merlin stick dulcimer, 4 string in `d tuning easy peasy. I then progressed to uke as merlin has no c chord so limits the sings, and it is just as easy. Trust me. If I can play anyone can! You need to get your fingers used to the chords and strings I’ve been playing only a few weeks and I can get a few tunes and clear chords without looking already.

Hi guys, Newbie here from England, new to playing and have a seagull merlin in D which I am loving! Looking for songs or ways to convert songs as the merlin has no c chord. Anyone else have the merlin? Be cool to get to know more people and see how they are getting in with theirs?
