Hi Jan!! Perfect--will do!!  Keep in mind a project that you want to roll with and I'll try and catch up to you very very soon!! And we'll get the project going!! Yipee!!  So very fun!!

Chat soon!! smile

Oh my goodness, Jan, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get your vocals//lyrics on a song!!!  Oh my word--that would be FANTABULOUS!!  I'm not sure if you were serious or not but if you could think of a project you'd like done--just let me know!! All I would need is your seperate vocal track (dry) and (dry uke track, if applicable) we could be off running!! As Jim will tell you --it takes a while--hahaaha--and there's, of course, no guarantee just because all of these peeps are hobbiest but it *usually* gets done eventually and is so much fun to hear!! smile

JIm...................Oh WOW WOW, that was great.  Jim you should be very proud to hear what your songs can produce with the right mix and talent of people out there.

Kim ...............  my goodness exceptional.................i loved the whole thing and oh makes me green ..........i would love to have a group to perform with like that!  Inspiring!

Hi ALL!!! I feel like the prodigal daughter coming home for a bit!! hahahaa---I'm TERRIBLY sorry I haven't gotten back on here. Can I just say, Ya'll are some of the loveliest internet buddies around---talent and warm heart ta boot!! Unfortunately, I've been so knee-deep in uke-land AND prepping for my return trip to Germany---a little over THREE WEEKS NOW--SO STOKED!!--that I haven't gotten back on here to keep up with all of you lovely folks--projects---cool stuff!! smile

It THRILLS ME that we were able to get this VERY VERY cool set of lyrics to a point that Jim was good with it.  All of these (online music) friends--some I've worked with for a few years now) were so happy with the lyrics and then, of course, how things turned out.  And ultimately--that Jim was satisfied.  HE was the inspiration!! smile

When in Germany, I should have a bit more down time---and be able to swing in here a lot more often!! smile  Hugs to everyone here---I know I haven't been here long but you all have been so very kind to me in encouragement and fun!!  I think there's a possibility of a meet-up in October and if that's the case--I seriously want to check that out if it's closer here to the East Coast!!

Chat soon--and happy dappy Sunday!!! smile

I've got to get that on my phone - seems it could be a lot of fun

haahahaa, Jim--t'was so fun to do different things with it.  It was all free and had lips, hats, even a monocle for those FANCY times! smile smile  PLUS, it didn't leave a watermark if you didn't purchase anything like a few others did. smile smile

Thank you Kim.

Didn't know there was such a thing as a beard app. But then I don't do apps so that might explain why. smile  I just trimmed it back about a month ago. During the winter months it's 4"-5" longer and doesn't have that "neat" appearance.

Uncle Joe!  smile

EVEN BETTER for a beard app!! Some day, I'll "beard myself" and send you the photo! smile  Meanwhile, I did "smile" myself.  smile smile  (Yes, I'm a punk!) smile

I was absolutely mesmerized when I heard this song on a college radio station not long after it came out in 1975. When I started playing guitar I told myself I would learn it some day. I started working on it last August and stumbled through it at the Pa. get together last fall, but it really wasn't ready. I can't do it justice but I finally know it. To really get the feel of it check out the original by Queen on A Night at the Opera https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opoFgGRWsjs

This is all I can do with it.

Well, I thought that was REALLY well-done! I watched bits of the first one and your rendition I really like!! Plus, I like the fact that your beard looks like one of those apps where you can beard yourself--it's so perfectly neat!!  Super nice!! smile

HA!! Bill, this is so great AND this is the THIRD robot song I've seen these past two weeks--but yours is the frontrunner, IMO!! Something must be in the mechanical air!!! smile smile

Strummerboy Bill wrote:

In my spare time (very little) i've been working on this one. It's played in Em and just about all the chords are minor ones as it's kind of a "sinister" song, but it's supposed to rock a la Alice Cooper's or Warren Zevon's style. It should start with something like "I Am Iron Man" with plenty of feedback and computer noises.

===========================================================================

"Dinner is served, Sir" said my robot as he dropped it on the  table
Never had he done this, and in my brain I heard "disable"!
But too quickly he rolled away to do his programmed work
I just sat there and thought about this disturbing quirk.

Strong lead guitar playing 3 minor chords to lead into the next verse

[Spoken] Isaac Asimov wrote the laws: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Chorus

"Don't cross the robot", my friend he said to me
What's that mean I asked and he only said you'll see
Don't ever say the wrong word  or give the wrong command
He'll wreck your home, he'll kill your love and your destruction's close at hand

Don't cross the robot!

I pondered and I wondered what started "Bob's" (that's what I call him) mistakes
Breakfast was a runny egg and he ruined my birthday cake
It was now that I remembered what my friend said to me
And I began to fear him standing there..........!!!!! Eyes aglow..........and staring straight at me!!!!!!

(Draw out the above words so that the two "me's" won't be so obvious)

What had I said what had I done to freak him out so bad?
What did he hear, what did he see that made his circuits mad?
And then it hit me: Lee my love had whispered once in the heat of love
Found the words which set him off : "Oh God"

Repeat Chorus

Robots have no concept of a greater divinity
Asimov was their father and an atheist was he.
He programmed all the robots to react to a  mention of "God"
And destroy all they could see.

So...... (chorus) and fade

================================================================

I wrote this during mine and my wife's many hospital stays a few months ago. Does it make sense to you?
Would you be willing to give it a shot on your guitar?

Thanks

Bill

Another "started on youtube" artist.  I'm not overly fond of the music on her new album, but the acoustic stuff you can find without all the extra editing and effects is really quite magnificent!  smile  Check out some of her Ingrid Michaelson Covers.   Enjoy!

Very pretty young artist--AND I really like her guitar playing. I saw her cover of The Way I Am with Ingrid Michaelson and enjoyed it!!  You can definitely hear the potential for sure!! Thanks for finding all of these, Amy!! smile

BAAHAA!! I know-- I was hoping I made it clear that it was a bit of a joke in terms of it actually "cheating." What some people call cheating--I call a MAJOR resource but of course that's me!!

Yikes--t'would be a real honor if you end up playing and singing it from THE AMY!!! smile

ahhhh---well, THAT explains it!  I GREATLY appreciate it and being the kid around here -- even at middle-aged--I am certainly enjoying all the experience and laughs around here---so danke schoen!! smile

To be honest, I had never heard of Chris Norman until... when did you post that video?  smile smile  (I know--a collective groan goes up from the Chordie crowd.)  However, I am a fan now.  (I do remember 8-track if that counts for anything!) smile smile
