Im liking these suggestions so far, personally im struggling between any Les Paul as i currently own an LP copy but also my first guitar was a red strat copy and for myself they are the two most iconic just because I have owned them however theres so many others like the ones mentioned in the thread so far, guitars that when you mention the guitarists name you picture them with that iconic guitar immediately, then theres others that have got a great story behind them like "lucille", its a real tough choice to choose just one.

Im also strugglng to pick a winnner, as a Les Paul player I'd like to think jimmy page's or slash's or like you says Les Paul's own but if someone asked me to think of a famous guitarist on the spot i think the first one to spring to mind would be Hendrix and his strat, theres so much choice you could even throw in Gene Simmons' axe bass, whether you like the music or not thats a guitar that stands out.
