Hi Jerry,

I am a little unsure from your description what is happening so let me lay down how you should edit a song and see if you can explain what is different for you.

1. Click on 'My Songbook.'

2. Open the songbook that contains the song you want to edit.

3. Click on the 'edit' to the right of the of the song title.

4. Make the corrections to the song in the unformatted 'chopro' version of the song at the top of the page.

5. Click on the 'Update preview' (in a blue box) to check that the formatted song below where you have been working is displaying the changes you want to make.

6. Click on the 'Save' (in a blue box).

7. Click on the '< < return to songbook'

The next time you look at that song it should show the corrected version.

Hey Roger, thanks for your response.

I did just as you list above and in step #5, in the preview pane below the change is shown.  Then, the next time (and I go immediately to it) I look at the song it did not show the corrected version.

This has not happened to me before and I re-did 1 - 7 above at least three times with no change.  It was as if the previous version was stored in memory somewhere and instead of displaying the newly corrected version, it placed the old one up there???

On one of my songbooks, I edited it and added a chord, saved it, viewed it not in the edit mode and the change does not show up.

After editing and saving it and before exiting the edit mode, it shows in the preview pane below.

Any ideas?

..... saving to your local drive is the best way to preserve them.....

Doug,

Thanks for the swift response.

I do not know how to save to my drive.  From within my browser(Firefox), I see the ability to save the page but not another save.  From within Chordie, is there a place to save to my HD?

When you move a song into My Songbook, sometimes you wish to go into the edit mode provided, and change a word or move a chord to another word.  You then save the changed/edited song back into you personal songbook.

I just finished moving some chords around, saved them, then printed a .PDF to my computer HD and today, when I go back to My Songbook and look at the song, it has reverted back to the original Chordie version.

Do I misunderstand how the system is supposed to work or is this a system error?

Jerry

After storing a song in My Songbook, is it possible to change the name of the song and the singer on the main page of My Songbook?

I understand how to change these items while within the song itself but not in the index of songs/main page.

Hello Roger, I tried the links but was unable to resolve my problem.

I was able to define a chord I called Al (for A long) and it attempted to put up a grid but nothing was printable.

Thanks for the links.

Doug_Smith said "...you might try making the change and THEN add it to your songbook (which will likely give you two instances of the song in your book).  Then compare the two and see if your modification persists in one of them..."

This did not work for me Doug.

Of note, in the PmWiki CookBook there is this statement

There are some other directives, notably the {define} brouhaha, that we'll politely ignore until they become relevant.

which implies the define statement is not implemented at this time.  I do not know when the PmWiki and this statement about define was written.

Thanks for jumping in NELA, I saw the long B chord played that night but had never seen it before so didnt have a clue as to what it was.  This is a very friendly group of guys but they had all played together before, many times, and I didnt want to interrupt and ask questions as this was my first time playing with them.

Also NELA, how would I become a Chordie Editor?

Doug

This "old timer" who showed it to me called it a "long A".

Good evening Doug, thanks for the fast response.

Within my songbook, I am able to click on the chord to be changed, pick an alternate chord and it will remain there as long as I keep that window open.  If I then click on My songbook Tab and repick the changed song/chord, it will show the original chord, not what I changed it to.

In addition, I am playing with a group that uses the A major chord, #2,#3 and #4 strings on 2nd fret PLUS the #1 string (normally open) on the 5th fret  so my main question is am I able to "create" my own chords in my songbook only?

Thanks again for the fast response.

Author: Chandler mountain man

I am playing with some fellows and they use what they call a "long A" chord, just like A major except instead of the #1 string being open, they fret it at the 5th fret.

Is it possible to create a different chord for "My Songbook" and save it within my songbook?

Also, I have looked at the alternate chords for the one presented and see you can select them but do not know how to store them for "My Songbook" only?  Can someone please help me?

Thanks,

Jerry

Sorry to tag onto your post, I am new to the forum and this was close to what I wanted to ask.  Can the chords also follow the text when you use the scroll function?
