Hi guys!

I have no gigs, so I'm recording as much as I can... Every weekend I spend hours in my homestudio during this pandemic.

I'd like to release a second CD for 2021 or 2022. So far I recorded 5 tracks (3 originals and 2 covers), I almost finished another original but I often do pauses so I can have new ideas for the arrangements.

Here's the new song :

Hello!

I wish you a wonderfull weekend!

I did a new cover of "A Thing Called Love", and I will try to achieve this level of mixing for my upcoming videos.
I created the drums, bass & violins with my Komplete keyboard.
It's a really nice keyboard, by the way I think I'm gonna buy a real pack of violin sounds (and even maybe another instrument).

All my gigs are cancelled because of Covid-19, like most of us... So I'm recording new songs for a second album, I'm doing it now because I have the time and it takes time to make an album...
It would be better to have real musicians with me, but it's hard to find people committed and people who like this musical genres in Belgium...

Here's the vid!

Thanks a lot!

Hi Peatle, thanks a lot!

Yeah I played everything... I've asked a drummer I should have met before this quarantine to play the drums on this one (he should have removed my drums and play on the song), but apparently he wasn't able to do it... He asked me the BPM, I calculated to be 70 with my app on my phone. I don't know why, he told me to play with a metronome... On Sylvia I know it's a bit messy, but on this one I think I'm not too bad, visually, on audacity the guitars seems to follow the drums I made... And never noticed anything wrong when I listened to it.

For the solo on the electric, I'm really happy about it, it's quite a simple solo but I'm not trying to be Jimi Hendrix lol Thanks to my album released, I had to add guitar solos to finished the songs, so I've learned a lot (and still need to learn a lot!)
Strings on my electric are really old lol... Like 1-2 years old, didn't play that much on those 2 guitars I own (1 Strat and 1 Epiphone Emily the Strange)

I really love my first album, though I think I'm still improving and a lot of songs of this first album were quite old to me, most of the songs were written 3-4 years ago, I'm still writing new songs, didn't write anything knew since quarantine but I'm improving my unreleased songs. I'd like to release a second album for 2022-2023... It will be a bit different, maybe more like "Funny How Time Slips Away".
I wish I could put some covers on my next album, but copyrights on American songs give me an headache... I'm unknown so it's almost impossible so far.

Thanks for watching, I hope you're all fine & happy during this tough time...

Hi...

Here's a cover I did, I tried to create a drum backtrack with my keyboard Komplete.

I should have played it live, but well, as you know, everything has been canceled because of Coronavirus...

I don't try to play every X minute each day.

I love playing, I can practice/play for 2-3 hours a day... During a week easily 10 Hours. But I do sometimes skip playing for a day or even an entire week. (I don't want to play, I'm busy, or I get enough of playing the same things...)
Sometimes it's better, it allows my brain to take a break and have new ideas.

Hi guys!

I was wondering how do you get gigs? Is it easy for you?

I struggle to have gigs, of course, doing folk rock country doesn't seem to help me while living in Belgium... On the other hand, I think it's cool to have something different to show...

The main problem in my area:
People only rely on coverbands or metal... Other genres are not famous...
Also DJ are the most common thing you'll see in Belgium... I'm not talking about the guy scratching a vinyl, I'm talking about this guy behind a computer and touching buttons...

In 2019 I contacted a lot of bar owners, festival organizators, etc. To finally only have 2 official dates so far, and normally at the end I'll have 4-5 concert in 2020 because some events needs to been finalized.

Is it like this in your country?
When I watch video of local bands in the US, it seems there are many more different musical genre, going from traditional (folk/country) to rock, funk, jazz, etc.

Hi guys!

I've been busy this last year between jobs/music/private life...
Today I'm happy to present you my official music video for "The Same Old Way", first track of my upcoming album, it will be released soon in 2020 smile

Hi,

Here's a new folk song I uploaded, I wrote it 1 or 2 years ago...
Hope you'll enjoy it.

This song is about not judging someone too quickly, don't necessary follow what the media say or want you to think, just think by yourself whether you like someone/something or not...

Hi folks!

Thanks for the kind words.

About the Jew's Harp, there's nothing wrong. "Jew" and "harp" aren't badwords nor negative words.
Because of political correctness Apu (Indian American character) has been removed from my old time favorite serie: The Simpson. Apu was a major character on the serie, he did bad but also great things... We could remove all the characters, it's a parody, Homer is a fat lazzy American, it doesn't seem to shock most Americans, instead we're enjoying the serie and laughing about it. Back in the 80's we were able to laugh and joke about (almost) everything, do the world was worst? I don't think...
Anyway that's not the subject! big_smile

Have fun, be polite, learn from your mistake, enjoy life :-)

Hi,

I'm currently recording my original songs, I have 13 songs so far, here's an example of what i'm doing, some songs are multi-tracks, actually when I record the voice and the rythmic guitar are automatically mixed, I'll soon buy new equipment to have more control on the recordings.

Thank you very much! :-)

Yes I'm on the acoustic.

On the drums it's Riccardo.
The bassman is Yves.
The pedal steel guitar player (wasn't present on this rehearsal) is Philippe.
& the singer is Christelle, but she has a stage name which is "Krysten Heather".

Our band's name is "Krysten Heather & The Band".

Yeah, her voice is awesome ^^
Unfortunately I had to gave up some back up vocals because I can't sing all the song we play. I only do the one I'm confortable with instead of forcing my voice and sound bad.

Hi guys!

I have now 12 original songs with lyrics, I might forget them, so I decided to create a music sheet but I'm struggling with some chords, I don't know what's the name of those...

First of all, I'm using this site to find the chord's name :
http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/chord_name.php

And I use this site to have chord diagrams :

thank you everyone :-)

First rehearsal this sunday with the bassist, the singer and I, the drummer is on vacation in Italy, and the pedal steel guitar player doesn't need to be present on every rehearsal as he said "he's "just" here to add some color to the music".

I hope this gonna be good, some songs needs rearrangement...
I'll bring my recorder with me.

Hi guys!

I'm excited theses days because I'll soon be part of a Country/Rock band. It's gonna be my first band big_smile

Actually we gonna have :
A female singer
A pedal steel guitar
A bass
A drummer
And me with my folk guitar and I'll do some choir, maybe some duo too.

We didn't met yet.
The singer, pedal steel guitar and I know each other. The bassist and drummer are friends of the singer.

We gonna have our first gig in September, I had to learn 18 songs, I'm now focus on the solos.

Here's a quick recording of Wayfaring Stranger solo, I did it by ear.

It's always good to share those stories.

easybeat wrote:

All you chordians playing live ,i am in awe of you.
There seem to be places like pubs where people demand  the covers.
But there are places like folk/country/open mics  where you can play
what u like & originals.

It seems I chose the right musical genre to play my original songs xD Just need to live in the States ahah ^^

Thanks everybody smile

Indeed, my first gig was with a band, and it was easier, less stress because you can miss a thing but your mates will cover you ^^

Anyway I'll keep searching new venues, I'd also like to meet musician and maybe have a band smile

Hi,

Yesterday I had my first solo gig, and it was the second time I played on stage ^^
I played for about 10 years, or so... It's now time to play on stage, which could be weird for me, because I'm shy...

For a first time it wasn't bad, but I wish I wasn't as stressed as I was... I played too fast, messed up the second song, the solo of Runaway, I couldn't help to stop my hand from shaking, I guess it will be OK when i'll be use of playing live smile After Runaway I was more at ease but still not perfect lol

Anyway, I want to share 3 songs among the 12 songs I played, 1 cover of Johnny Paycheck and 2 original songs ^^

Slide Off of Your Satin Sheets (Johnny Paycheck) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWU8q212FVI

The Same Old Way (original) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65yCq7EXYtk

Another Silly Love Song (original) :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yEAV0Znkj4

I hope it's gonna be easier for me to have gigs... Bars, manager of events, etc, don't answer me when I ask them if I could play, well I guess it's because I'm unknown and folk/rock/country aren't the most popular music genres in Belgium...

I also created a wordpress blog to reach people :

Sounds good!

Hello,

I was wondering if you ever wore something special for a concert?

Like Elvis suits, Silvester from Sly & The Family Stone used to have suits similare to Elvis, Jimy Hendrix also had a special look.

I did this in 3D, maybe one day we could print clothes tongue
