Frankly speaking,doing both the things at same time,it comes to you with the more you do it.It requires practice and dedication.First start with easy rhythms and work up to harder ones.Some people get it faster than others.By doing so, you can gradually improve you both skills.

The best electric guitar of my choice is Gibson Les Paul,Very nice to play and the sound rivals the supreme.Worth the money for such a great range of tones. I recommend it.

The First song I Played on my Guitar is Neil Young's Heart of Gold which is very simple.It's made of pretty basic and easy guitar chords - mostly E minor and D.

Changing of guitar strings depends on how much you play.I Change them for every 6 months and I think once in a year is the least you could do.
