Hi Alex,
Look on the Banjohangout site. There are hundreds of banjo tabs, classified from easy to difficult. Dirty Old Town sounds great on banjo and is easy to play.

Hi Tina, Thank you for replying. The Banjo Hangout has hundreds of tabs, many are traditional bluegrass. I like to play around with other types of music (like The Pogues). I'm working on Dirty Old Town, it is easy to play and lots of opportunity to add some effects. I'm really pleased that someone understands where I'm coming from with this

Bob Dylan - Blowin' in the wind. Played it at a youth camp, they thought it was great. I was about 12 and very intense.....
Hi Henry. It's a standard 5 string banjo. I've had it for 10 months now, I've learnt some songs with banjo tab but I would like to be able to pick along with more contemporary music. I'm looking for input from other banjo players, who have looked for songs that adapt well to banjo.
Hi all. I enjoy playing banjo. It's a great sound and lots of fun to play. There are many websites with tabs for banjo, however most are very traditional bluegrass or fiddle tunes. There are many country rock and folk songs that work well on banjo, but it takes a long time to trawl through hundreds of tabs to find suitable tunes. If anyone else has done this, appreciate your input in order to create a songlist for banjo players. Please don't exclude slower songs, some of Alison Kraus' recordings sound great on banjo at a slower pace.
Thank you
Sarah McLachlan's Angel. Easy to play on piano, reflective, great meaningful lyrics. Love it.
Here are my favourites -
Somebody's crying (Chris Isaak). Easy tabs and sounds cool.
Why worry (Dire Straits). A little harder but worth the effort.

I ride a Honda VTR 250. She's only a little bike, but I love her.
Some of the best advice I ever got was... "You may not ever find another guitar like that again, but you can always get a new old lady."
Or else end up a lonely old man with a very nice guitar.
Its a sad, sad day.... I know its easy (pardon the pun) but I've just tried to find Billy Thorp's "Crazy" and I cant find it or Thorpy listed anywhere.
Hi Rabid,
The song is called "Most people I know" and the tab is on Ultimate Guitar.

Hey Bushy,
I find it's difficult to describe the situation, and even how it's affecting people who weren't directly affected by the flood. Which area are you in?

Welcome!
I propose we turn this into the "jokes about the banjo player" thread.
Hey, whats the difference between a locksmith and a banjo player?
The locksmith gets paid to change keys!
Woooo!
Hey Jerome, Why do you want to turn my thread into a joke thread? Am I missing something here?

I have blisters on fingers now, but this is a lot of fun. So much to learn ... damn shame I have to go to work.
It's demoralising watching some of the youtube players, I don't think I could ever play that fast!

Hi Alten. Thank you for your positive comments. If everyone was as joyful and optimistic we would have a much better world to live in.

Hi All.
What a great site this is! I've been playing guitar since early high school - many, many years ago. My wonderful man bought me a banjo for Christmas. I have a beginner banjo book, but it doesn't progress very far beyond very basic methods. The chords in the song books are great, I just need to work out how to apply the best picking patterns to the chords. Any assistance much appreciated ...
Kelly.
