Thank you mekidsmom.

I have ordered some Dorito picks, and some Star pick, but I'm still waiting for them to come.  Your new oned look cool, any idea what make they are ?, so I could order them as well.

Have you seem my "News Flash" posting ?,  I have found that I drop my pick a lot more after I have washed the dishes, I think it is the Fairy wash up,  also it has just come into my mind, that when I used to have a recording contract, that stated that I should not wash up, Odd but true.

Did you run this NEWS FLASH by SWMBO?  I think you may want to consider the previous pick advice first.

"She Who Must Be Obeyed" for those who don't know what SWMBO means.

Sorry but I took anyones advice from my last post, and I am still waiting to recive the new picks that I have ordered.
At the end of the post I truely thanked everyone for there advice, and looking at the number of others who seem to have the same problem, as soon as I found that my pick dropping was worse after washing dishes I posted this thred in the hope that it may help the ones who helped me.

I can promiss you that when I ask for help, I do take it.

Hi, I posted a week or so ago regarding droping my pick, I recived lots of very good advice, which I followed, still waiting for some new picks to be delivered, but now a NEWS FLASH

Last night I washed the dinner dishes, I normaly just put them in the dish washer, but last night there was only a few, I used Fairy liquid wash up, this morning again I am dropping my pick, I think it is washing up the dishes that is making my hands "as soft as my face", So problem solved, don't wash up.

If you are haveing the same problem, try using rubber gloves, or don't do the dishes

Thank you all for your very good advice

TonyBlue

Thank you all for a mountain of advice, without any question I will find the answer to my problem from all your replys.

Thank you all very much.

I have always had a lose grip on my pick, but lately I keep on droping it,  I have changed to Snarling Dog picks, as they have a textured grip on them, but I still keep on droping them.

I have heard of a thing called Gorilla Snot, but don't really fancy haveing sticky fingers, anyone got any ideas ?

Hi Tony,
Looks like Russell was wrong, the disk will not work in my computer, it will let me up-grade to fit my system, but at a cost of £40, so I wont be doing that, but thanks very much.
You have not sent me a return address, just send me a private e-mail and I will send it back with the postage that you paid.
Thanks again TonyBlue

Colud anyone help with the burning of CDs, I burn now with Windows Media Player, at the slowest speed that I can, but some will only play on some strieos and not others, I have been told that Nero is very good, but would solve my problem ?, and it looks to cost around £40, it has a lot of things I don't need, all I want to do is burn my home made CDs.  My computer is a Advent lap top, and I wonder if it is not very good at burning ?. if so could I get a better burner ?.

Any help would be most welcome.

Don't knock the 12 bar blues in Em.  There are 1,000s of songs played in this key, why ? cause it sounds so very cool.

Sorry Seriousfun, I missed your reply,
Since I recorded this, I have had some very valueable lestions in record production, it turns out I was doing it backwards.

When I played in the studio, I was told to turn my guitar up to max, but I now know that working with a small recorder, it is much better to record at low output, this small but vital infromation transformed my out look on recording.  This along with all the help that I have recived from this site, was all I needed, so a big thank you to you all.

If you want to hear the diferance, please follow the link to Knocking on Heavens door.

Hi Southpaw,
What a good answer, I to try to earn the money before spending it, but it the moment I would be pushed to buy a mouth organ, but I do have a strat, and would not ever change it.

Hi toots,
Thank you for your words.
Have you looked at the Boss Micro ?. the vocals where recorded with the on-board mic, and you can get lots of FX, so you can record any sound that you want, including a tuba.
When I play live I also have a bunch of stuff, mixers, amps, mics and FX, but with the Boss, it is just me and the guitar, I have eveything I need in one small box, it fits into a PS2 case, I look at the boss as a stand alone studio, yes it takes some working out, but I will share my limited skills with anyone who is intrested, and the cost of the unit was a big selling point to me.
Good luck with your recording.

Hi 4gits
It was done on a very basic set up,  The guitar is a Strat, and the recording was done as follows.
Roland Boss Micro BR, you can pick them up for around £100.
it has a progaramable durm unit, which was the hardest part to do,
after that was down, I recorded two guitar tracks into the boss, one set to bass and the other set to treb, I used a patch from the Boss called "Phase Clean".
I then recorded two more tracks one a bass track, and the other a highlighting lead track.
And lastly I recorded the vocals useing the on board mic in the Boss.
In total it took me two days (about six hours).
So the answer would be the Boss Micro BR for everything.
Glad you enjoyed it, I am only learning how to record, and I'm finding it harder than playing the guitar.

Having taken on the advice that you all gave me the last time I recorded a song, I have tried again, this time putting more into the enginering side of the the song, I had some great help from TonyW, and I learned a lot in the process.
The song is called Knocking on heavens door.
Let me know, am I on the right track.
Thanks TonyBlue

Not critical Russell, just what I asked for, thank you.
The recorder has a drum unit with it, and I am trying to fit the fills in, but there is a bass track in there, it looks like I lost it in the mix.  I think that I am trying to do something that I don't understand, so it will be a long learning task for me.  But I will keep on trying, and it has just occuered to me that maybe I should record one of my gigs live, this could be the best idea.
Thank you Russell.

As some of you konw, I play live, but I am having trouble in producing a CD of my work.
I have looked at doing in a studio, as I have worked in them for years, but the one I worked for has now gone, other one's I have contacted seem to charge around £200 per hour, which I can not afford, or even want to pay that much.

I have a Boss Micro BR, and I am happy with the guitar results, but not the vocals, I am trying difrent things to try to improve the sound, and this is the best I can get it, for now.  Please have a listen, and leave coments that you may feel would help me, here is the link, also I cannot even get the page right, so you will have to scroll down to find me, the song I would like you to coment on is "Me & Bobby McGee".
