Old Doll wrote:Normandy chicken.
Ingredients
75g butter
8 skinless chicken thighs
6 shallots, halved
4 celery sticks, chopped
300ml apple juice (or cider)
300ml good-quality fresh chicken stock, hot
200ml crème fraîche
4 eating apples, such as Cox’s or Braeburn, cored and cut into wedges
3 tbsp chopped fresh chives, to serve
Method
1. Heat 50g butter in a roasting tin on the hob and brown the chicken thighs all over, turning as needed. Add the shallots and celery and cook for a few minutes. Pour over the apple juice and stock and season to taste. Bring to the boil, then cover tightly with foil and cook for 20 minutes, or until the juices run clear when the chicken is pierced. Stir in the crème fraîche and bring just to the boil, then simmer for 1 minute.
2. Heat the rest of the butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the apple wedges and fry for 5 minutes until lightly coloured. Stir the apples into the chicken. Sprinkle with some chopped chives and serve. This is great with French beans, broccoli and mashed potato.
Simple but gorgeous.

We don't go to movies very often unless there's a Star Wars or Star Trek coming out. Love all of Tim Burton's stuff. Just watched Coraline the other night. Other than that, anything with music in it, is my choice!
A great music/movie one is called, "Once". With Glen Hansard (from the Irish Band the Frames and who was the guitar player in "The Commimtments) and Marketa Irglova. It's a new-age musical, as it's not in the same format as most musicals.....there's dialogue without singing but lots of great music that the two characters play together...it's beautifully filmed, very simply, and just a great soundtrack. They won an oscar for one of the songs I believe.
i love once!!
its really funny how they say the f word in a good context!!

Yeah...nobody around here likes the same kinds of music i like, and if they do, they either can't play an instrument or they don't want to join a band.
Let me know if you get a band started!
It's really too bad you live so far away.

Their commercial success however softened them and now they have a guitar player and a keyboardist performing with the original 3, unseen behind or under the stage. Pretty un-punk if you ask me. You want punk? Listen to the New York Dolls, early Velvet Underground, Iggy Pop, Ramones, and best of all-time (IMO) The Sex Pistols!
Saw the new york dolls at higher ground!! freakin awsome show
I don't have it yet but its green day and ive already learned at least one of the new songs!!!!!
ok heres my take... for some reason when my dad said mj was dead i felt a little sad but not a straght up sad more of a what the hell is this feeling kindof sad... i personally dont know what he did to those boys but i think that it is likly that at least some of the stories are true. However i think that early show biz really messed him up and that there were so many things beyond his control especially early on in his life. also i hate to say this but i realluy did not like his music mebbe it was because of the rumors but even without that i really just thought he wasn't great. but hey what do i know......
