Wow!!! This was a big surprise. Kudos to those who worked it out. As with change, you will have those who like it and those who don't. I haven't quite made up my mind yet. Let me see if I can blow a fuse.
Thank you admin and mods for your hard work. LD
I'm single and am self employed. I have lots of time to play but don't seem so motivated anymore.
I wish I'd play more but it is an age thing.
It's a dang shame is what it is....................
To me, it is the shape just not the same fingers and fret. Bm is my nemesis and it's practicing a-lot, especially if you learned differently. I play Am with index and next two so when pinky is involved it gets more complicated. There is less surface area on the pinky so getting it right all the time becomes tricky.
Remember, you can NEVER get enough practice.
Great to see James mentoring. Now pay attention.
Thanks Top for the link.
I too, could not stand the sound of my voice, singing or talking because I was not use to just hearing it. Feeling/speaking with your voice is so much different than just listening.
I also found that I would sing to high for my capability because the original singer of the song sang high. I found that dropping an octave or two can make a lot of difference.
Practice, practice, practice is the name of the game.
Lord knows, I've done a lot of tequila in Texas.
Nicely done in the key of A.
So, you've been strapless all this time? Boy were you missing out. LOL
Threads like this give music theory a whole new meaning. So they really exist, kinda. Just depends on the key.
Looks like someones been practicing. Nicely done.

Welcome Seadawg to the best little six string site on the planet more or less if you so chose. We love it here and hopefully the feeling is mutual. I'm sure we all would be a little different if chordie was around 20 years ago.
Welcome, LD

Indeed! Good catch.
The good news is that no one but wierd jazz dudes play the 7th, anyway.
Hey, that's why I caught it. LOL. just jazzin'.
Looks like my study is paying off.
I wish all this theory stuff would just go away!
Life's funny that way. Sounds like a song title. I will explore the possibilities.
Any how. Chordie has definitely helped me and my self improvement, motivation, and confidence. I was introduced to Chordie from an acquaintance. The rest is history and want to thank all who create, moderate or investigate here that it is and will always be a good idea. An official 'Salutation' from one guitar player to others.....

Hello, I started to learn guitar over 30 years ago but gave it up for 20 years. Been playing alot since I bought my guitar over 7 years ago. Male residing in Austin, Texas where you'll find lots of guitar players. LOL

I had issues with other site too with IE. I have not had any problems with Firefox so it works for me. To each their own. Maybe it will magically go away. LOL

I actually had a friend asked if I wanted to come over and play his new guitar hero. I told him I was a guitar hero's hero and if I didn't keep practicing, I wouldn't be able to save the day.
Karaoke anyone? WHAT;HUH.
Pesky8,
First post and welcome.
Strumming and fingerpicking are 2 different beasts. I would recommend strumming first to get the beat down before proceeding to finger picking. I do both and most people say finger picking sounds better which I agree. But finger picking also opens you up to more susceptible errors that are more noticeable. I 2 finger pick (thumb and index) and it has worked for me for most of the songs that I strummed first and then went to finger picking. Finger picking and singing can be extremely hard and requires even more practice than strumming. If you still want to finger pick, I recommend "Dust in the wind" by the state directly north of Oklahoma. That song was my first venture into finger picking and I'll rotate around finger picking and strumming so I can practice both.
Of course, as others have said, practice is your best friend. Good luck, LD
So I guess alcohol increases one's confidence level? Then you have to rely on that 1% talent to get you through. LOL
Try singing acappella and if you can hold a note then try simpler songs to develop a feel for your voice. I'm not sure if your playing guitar while singing or just a singer.
I sing and play guitar both strumming and finger picking so I definitely get the full round of challenges from the variety. And of course the P,P,P always helps.
I too, quit for 20 years and always had to remember some riffs when I'd see someone with a guitar. Chordie is a wonderful addition to all the books, references and sites we need to continue the constant learning process. I am glad to have discovered a place full of people like myself who constantly strive to learn more, exchange ideas and give us options we never had in the past. I'm glad I rediscovered guitar hero, for real. LMAO
I have tried various things with my songbook and here is what I found. I can edit the song. As long as I go back into edit, I can view my edited song. If I just click on the song link the old song is still there uncorrected. If I select view songbook. My edited version is there. So I guess there's an issue with viewing your edited song by just clicking on it. FWIW.
I hate it when I'm wrong, Roger. Now you know I'm human. LOL
Correct me if I'm wrong but I read you could only edit songs in your own songbook after joining and enabling a personal songbook.
I'll have to second StephenP's problem too. I have read up on how to edit songs but when I try to select improve this song it wont let me click on it. Is there something wrong with the program? My edited song only show's up when I have clicked 'edit', but not after and I select the song itself. I have tried it with all my songs in my songbook, but to no avail. Can anyone help?
