Hi sundance51, does this occur on every song page that you open? If so, the problem may be in your "screen settings" on your computer. Try setting your screen resolution to the highest and see if that fixes it. I have not personally ran into this problem on any of the pages here on chordie that I have opened.

Might check your computer's audio setting,,,I've got one on my pc that says "mic boost" and it sounds really crappy when it is selected.

Hey guys, it's been awhile since my last post and I thought I'd chime in here. Riddler and I have been using his dell webcam and the internal mic on his computer to record ideas when ideas hit us (sort of a quick way of getting it recorded before we forget it...lol)... I was quite surprised at the quality of the video and sound. Since your looking for a basic set-up to record, it might be worth purchasing one of those 20 or 30 dollar webcams (if you don't have one built-in) before you drop coin on a video camera.

To help narrow your search, you might want to check it's "hardness" with a glass plate and also do a "streak" with a streak plate. I think these plates can be purchased probably at a hobby store and there really cheap.

Here's a few choices:

         METALLIC:
                         HARDER THAN GLASS:

                                                           STREAK                                            NAME
                                                       -----------------                                   ------------------------
                                                           black                                               Magnetite
                                                           greenish-black                                 Pyrite (fools gold)
                                                           red-brown                                       Hematite

                        SOFTER THAN GLASS:
                                                          gray-black (silvery black)                  Galena

These are not all but just a few that I remember. Also, I believe Galena had a greenish tint if I remember correctly.
Hope this helps smile

I'm just disappointed that, for the 1st time, there will be no cheerleaders,,,,oh the madness!!!

Hey woodman, one of the other chordie members (can't remember which member) recommended a free software program called ""Songbook." I have been using it for about 1 year and I love it. You can edit till your heart's content,,and it's really easy to use. When you open a song on chordie, on the right hand side of the page there is a tab that says "chopro." Click that and then highlight the text and "copy." Then open up the songbook software and "paste" into a new document. From there you can edit and edit and edit. Hope this helps. Oh yeah, on the publishing issue...I don't think you can "publish" your edits, but if you just want to make the changes on your own computer, the above technique works great.

Hi Russell, I completely erased my dell pc(laptop) and reloaded all the drivers and OS about a year ago and this computer is still running great. It's good to have someone who knows what their doing...I was a nervous wreck doing mine but I had Riddler on the phone who was talking me through the process, thank goodness. The good thing about reloading all the os and drivers is that you will have the option of just loading the stuff you will use/need,,I'm sure it's the same with hp but Dell has a list of all the "must have drivers" listed on their webpage and the order they must be installed for the pc to work properly. Good luck and let us know how it all works out.

Found this little jewel while searching around on youtube and thought I'd share,,Also I never realized how much this song has been covered by artist like Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Elvis, etc...

I also use songbook and love it. Outside of being easy to use, it is capable of putting the entire song on the screen so you don't have to scroll down the page to get the last part of the song.

I've noticed when I play outdoors that I have to tune several times especially if we start in the afternoon and into the night. I guess the temp. change is the reason. That's my tip: carry your tuner and a fresh battery!!!!

Hi Bolleauxp, I've played this song at times....that line has always been confusing. The way I play it is:

1       1       2m         5

meaning: G       G       Am        D (if your playing in the key of G)
and this works for me sitting around the living room jammin. I'm not real sure how to put this but I think that the {5     2m}      {Em       5}, they were trying to follow the vocalization at that part of the song. I hope this helps, by the way, I got to see the Bellamy Brothers several years ago in Vicksburg, Mississippi at one of the riverboat casinos. They were fantastic!

Hey Waynel140, I'm not sure about the "delete a song" problem your having,,one of the mods might be able to help you with that one. If your trying to delete songs in your songbook to make room for some new songs, why not just create a new songbook? I don't think there is any limit to the number of songbooks that you can have. Hope this helps smile

I think this is the first time I've commented in the section,,so hello everyone! Gomezfoul, I'd say go crazy and be creative as possible with the complicated chords, maybe write a complete progression without the main chords. If nothing else by the time you finish your song, you will have the skill to put those harder chords into other music you write. StranSongs hit the nail on the head...let your ears guide the way. Just a thought and have fun.

speechless here!!!

That was fantastic Guitarpix...rarely do I actually "laugh out loud" when I put lol in a thread but I can actually say that I "LOL". Although I've never met you, I have those "same friends"....I think most musicians do have those "same friends." Thanks for making my day smile.

Lena, my interest are the invertebrates,,mostly the insects and spiders. Each state here in the U.S. has there own wildlife organization and that's where I'd like to work doing ecological research, species populations, species diversity, etc... I am also minoring in secondary education so I can teach high school biology. Sorta feel like my options are somewhat limited since I am ~20 years older than the average college senior but I try to be optimistic smile.

Hi Lena, I loved the video,,,momma sure ain't gonna sneak up on these little guys lol. I am a biology student(one semester remaining) but I must be honest, I have not studied birds and their behaviors much. I'm more of an invertebrate person, anyway you hit the nail on the head by "leaving nature alone" but I'm the same way as you at times. You might try a "scare tactic" and see if that works. Here in middle Tennessee there are a lot of woodpeckers around and they are sometimes run off by something as simple as a balloon or windchimes hanging in the tree their pecking on,,,anything to make some movement or noise around the tree. I've even heard of folks setting up a watering sprinkler with a timer so the sprinkle will come on for a few minutes several times a day. I think these magpies, like the woodpeckers, are very territorial so something like this might work to keep them away until the tits are big enough to take flight. Good luck.

Ok, so most of this thread seems to be poking fun at the member status thing and I was going to try to think of something real smart to post for my 100th post but couldn't think of anything. Now that I'm a senior member,,,who is going to give me the "secret handshake" smile
