LITTLE RED DRESS...words & music by William Mc Cready.

Key Bb  BPM 120
Intro...Bb    F    Gm   Eb
Bb
Sitting in a bar in this one horse town,
Minding my own business and pouring whisky down
Eb
Just about then she walked right through the door
Sending my jaw straight down to the floor
  Bb
I swear you should have seen her she was hot as can be
A little red dress and big ole high heels
Cm7                            Bb/D           Eb                            F
Man she was a vision,       like a straight up movie star

Chorus...
         Bb                                            F/A
I was thinking to myself how do I handle this situation
      Gm7                                          F
Sit down and play it cool or get up and change the station
                 Eb                                       Cm7                               F
But I was thinking to long and she walked right past my way
Bb      F      Gm     Eb

  Bb
I slid over next to her, just I guess to let her know
That my only intention was to never let her go
                 Eb
With that little red dress and those big high heels
I'll try some real romancing just to see how she feels
Cm7                                Bb/D             Eb                           F
Man she was a vision,            like a straight up movie star

Chorus....

Ireland you are my very soul the place i long to be
        A                                                   B
The place i left some years ago al though reluctantly
  E                     C#m
I left you for a foreign land a place for me to toil
    E                               A                                     B                 E
A place that couldn't match the love for my city on the Foyle

        C#m                                     A          E              A                         C#m
Chorus...So now I'll count my days to when I'll see that place again,
        A                                                       B
The town where I grew up a child the place where  I’ll return,
            C#m               A                                B           C#m
To the land that I re member it's beauty and it's style.
E                                A                   B                        E
Home to my sweet Derry in the lovely Emerald Isle.

I've missed the songs the stories and the friends I left behind
And as the years have told on me you've never left my mind
But my time is growing shorter now and I've lost my will to roam
So take me to the place i know back to my Irish home

Chorus...So now I'll count my days to when I'll see that place again,
The town where I grew up a child the place where  I’ll return,
To the land that I remember it's beauty and it's style.
Home to my sweet Derry in the lovely Emerald Isle.

Bridge... Chorus.

You Don't Know How Good I've Been Without You.

G                                                                    C
You don't know how good i've been without you
                   D                                                        G
When your memories kept reminding me of you
                                                                        C
And if you could only see how lifes been treating me
   D                                                     G
I think you' d have to say i'm over you

The times you lied and said we'd stay together
Well thats not true it was make believe to you
I never said that we would be forever
Now it's come true, you don't know what to do

Chorus...
       C                                                                 G
You thought that i would miss you but it's over
  C                           D                       G
I can't go back the pain i couldn't bear
                                                               C
So let me try to start my life without you
       D                                                              G
Cos from the start you never seemed to care

Middle 8.....Chorus...
       D                                                             G
Yes from the start you never seemed to care

Folks I've been gone for a while as i had other more important things to do as here in Ireland we are in a recession since 2007 and finding bits of work to keep the family going was first and foremost. Well what brought me back was something Phil told me back in July 2008 when he said writing the song was half the fun but recording it was even more fun and i'm glad to say that i have done a demo of Here Comes Mr Heartache on My space and take a listen and see what you think. Cheers wmcdrum. Oh great to be back and i've started writing again so thanks guys.

G                               C

  G                                         D
I try to go to sleep but you are always on my mind
  G                                            C
I toss and turn I`m restless  stay up until the dawn

  A                                       D
I know you said it`s over and time would heal the pain
         A                                        E
Well I wonder how long it`d take if you could feel the same
              A                                        D
`Cause I can`t face the days knowing that you`ll not be here
         A                                        E7                        A
What can I do to mend a heart that has been mine for years

I get up and go downstairs and try to waste some time
         G                                  D
And I try to forget you and it`s pushing almost nine
        G                                          C
So I pour myself a coffee and try to work out what went wrong
      G                                D7                          G
But I still think of you and I can`t believe... your gone

  A                                       D
I know you said it`s over and time would heal the pain
          A                                       E
Well I wonder how long it`d take if you could feel the same
              A                                       D
`Cause I can`t face the days knowing that you`ll not be here
        A                                          E7                       A
What can I do to mend a heart that has been mine for years
        A                                          E7                       A
What can I do to mend a heart that had been mine for years.

for me it has to merle haggard. he has a great way of expressing feelings when writing and you almost think it`s you he`s singing about.there`s a guy from liverpool called charlie landsborough and you need to read his lyrics.he has a way of telling a story through other peopls eyes.one comes to mind about a young blind girl when she asks her dad what colour is the wind.man the way he writes those lyrics you think he was blind himself.there are some great one liners in songs too that make you sit upand take notice.i think to myself at times i wish i had written that line.

hi roger thanx for the response,as you see i have to keep the chords simple as i explained b4.all my songs were in the key of G as thats what i knew so i tried to go to a different key for the last song.i found that A was the next easiest to get.you guys have put me in the mood to learn the guitar properly, i am feeling a bit out of my depth with the guitar. i try to transpose everybodies song to the key of G to get a bit of a feel for the way your songs should work out.sometimes it`s ok but sometimes it`s like reading chinese.oh the post u did on me i don`t mind i thought i sent it to this message board in the first place.thanx again.

End Of The Line

A
Cruising down the highway wind cool in my hair
Checking out the honey`s trying to catch a stare
Bright lights, city limits foot flat on the floor
Hookers on the corners the dealers on the doors

           D                                 A
I gotta make it back to Texas before the dawn of day
      D                                                A
My womans kinda restless that`s what all my friends say
D                                              A
Time is passing fast you need to make it home on time
     E                                                         E7            A
Or man you`ll know what`s coming it`s the end of the line

Rodeo`s and barbeque`s are not what`s on my mind
It`s a hard headed woman who makes you toe the line
Honky Tonks and all night bars she doesn`t seem to care
Excuses and apologies she doesn`t wanna hear

I gotta make it back to Texas before the dawn of day
My womans kinda restless that`s what all my friends say
Time is passing fast you need to make it home on time
Or man you`ll know what`s coming it`s the end of the line

Or man you`ll know what`s coming it`s the end of the line

How Do I Take The Stars Out Of Your Eyes Tonite

Chorus…
G                                                 C
How do I take the stars out of your eyes tonite
       G                                                 D            D7
And how do I pinch a burning flame that shines so bright
       G                                                             C
And how do I say the words when you think that everything`s alright
           G                       D                       D7       G
Honey how do I take the stars out of your eyes tonite

G                                                   C
All the precious times together some good and even bad
         G                                                 D
And I know we`ve had some tough times maybe even sad
         G                                                    C
And I knew that I could count on you at the end of every day
      G                         D                       G
But in my heart these words are hard to say..so..

Chorus…
How do I take the stars out of your eyes tonite
And how do I pinch a burning flame that shines so bright
And how do I say the words when you think that everything`s alright
Honey how do I take the stars out of your eyes tonite

               G                                     C
I`ve been sitting here and thinking of ways to make you cry
          G                                      D
And it almost seems impossible no matter how I try
              G                                                   C
And is it right to say the things you want when someone feels the pain
       G                               D                        G
And that`s why it`s hard to say these words again..so.

Chorus..

Well here comes Mr Heartache just strolling down our street
                                              G
The guys they all avoid him the girls drop at his feet
                                                                              C
He`s back in town this time around he say`s to start a-new

It`s hello Mr Heartache and good-bye to me and you

G                                                     D
The years go by the pain subsides my heart`s just on the mend
                                                      G
It`s hard to heal the hurt inside when he`s come back again
                                                                   C
You find a girl to settle down one so warm and true
                          G                    D                    G
Then it`s hello Mr Heartache and so long me and you

Chorus...

G                                            D
Well hello Mr Heartache you`ve stole her once before
                                                                 G
You said you really wanted her but you don`t love her anymore
                                                                               C
Your back again to cheat and lie and do the things you do
                          G                    D                          G
So here comes Mr Heartache and there goes me and you

Christmas Time

G                                              D
There`s a special time of year, a special time for giving
                                                                                         G
A time of peaceful joy, which makes our lives seem worth the livin`
                                                    C
When family and friends come from far to be so near
      C                      G                D                        G
It`s then we get that feeling, that Christmas time is here

Chorus…
       C                                                        G
The candles through the window panes, show light to every one
      A7                                                 D                    D
The presents round the christmas tree,  children having fun
         G                                          C
Folks gathered round the table , with mistletoe and wine
       C                   G                       D                         G
The snow upon the street outside hooray it`s Christmas time

G                                                   D
There`s good-will from everyone, to people everywhere
                                                               G
There`s little baby Jesus in a manger lying bare
                                              C
And carollers on doorsteps who sing in perfect rhyme
         C                   G               D                          G
They give us all that feeling, that now it`s Christmas time

Chorus…
       D                                            D7                        G
The snow upon the street outside hooray it`s Christmas time
