upyerkilt...
Absolutely agreed... things like this take time and a lot of work.
But if it's a good idea, and enough people think it's a good idea,
then maybe it'll be worth the work, so it's always worth suggesting, right? smile

Yay smile thanks for commenting.  I've a feeling that the more replies this gets, the more likely the powers-that-be will decide to take it on!  *smile*

Homegrown songs... as in your own work?

Thanks for replying, Ken... *smile* I love it when admins and such answer! lol... especially if it's to say that you like the idea *grin*

I'm all about the networking and most definately all about the friends.  My sister in law recommended me to Chordie and I think it's a fantastic site just the way it is, but sharing always makes things better... my stepdad uses this site, too... so I've already got at least 3 people I'd add to my own list! lol...

I really hope other people will reply and I would be ecstatic if it actually happened... and I definately understand, these things take time... and time is not always in abundance!!! *smile*

Thanks!
Deb.

...We can have a "public songbook"
...We can have a public profile
...we can search for people by name, and view profiles....

What I'd love is to be able to do a search for my friends...
ADD them to a Chordie Pals list or something...
and then be able to not only message them, but have a link on songs that says "Recommend this to a Chordie Pal" or something... you type in your friend's username, and the next time they log in, they have notifications that "zoethebard thinks you should check out this song!"
And also being able to make a songbook and have "Send this songbook to a Chordie Pal"... with the same philosophy. smile

The reason I came up with this... is I have a friend who is an amazing guitarist... she's a lovely singer too but prefers someone sing with her.  I'm just learning to play guitar but I'm a singer... and she lives a ways away from me, so I only get to share music with her over MSN and such, or print it when I'm here, etc.  But if I could just recommend stuff I like for her to check out when she logs in... then we'd both be familiar with the same songs and when we DO get together to jam/sing... I can sing along because I know the words, and she'll have the printouts already here and probably already been practising.  Get it?  I think it would be a really great way to share amongst fellow musicians.

What do you think, everyone? smile
