Thinking of changing my Strats pick-ups, does any one have any opinions on Pre-Wired Pick Guards from a company called "Dragonfire"?

Micky,

I have the DigiTech RP-90 effect pedal, which is a practice tool that lets you emulate a lot of amp sounds and pedal effects.  I only play as a hobby, still learning, (hope to move on to the second string soon).  Any way my point, it has a built in drum machine, 40 rhythms that you can vary the tempo and volume.  I find it great to practice with.  You can find them for about $90.

Ok, I hope to get a lot of opinions on this one.

First question, How do power ratings / watts of tube amps compare to that of Solid State, in other words "what watts"  15 Amp tube = ? Solid State etc.

Second, what size amps are appropriate for different uses, practice, jamming, small gigs, larger gigs.

First, Its never too late, after a life of procrastinating, I finely really started at 49, this past February.  So its about a year. Not as far along as I had hoped but having fun and getting better.
Just changed teachers and that should help a lot.

My best reason to take lessons, besides not developing bad habits on your own, is that you set definite goals and have to face someone each week with your progress, really keeps you on target.

Oh yeah, the guitar,  if you look on line (ebay, craig) you can find a used Fender Strat MIM (made in mexico) for only a little more than a Squire, and usually they are more consistent and of higher quality, a guitar you can be happy with for quit a while.

Go for it, good luck.

I have no names for my guitar.  But here is a great clip of BB King telling the history of his guitar, Lucile.

Playing guitar is one of my last "Bucket List" items.  After decades of false starts i finally started in February.  While I really just want to learn rock and blues I'm forcing myself to learn certain basics.  So far i sticking to it and i think the formal part of learning to read and understand why I'm doing things will pay off big as time goes by.

Just curious to see who is learning to play with or without learning to read music and why you chose that path.

Thanks

Hello,

This is my first post, started playing /taking lessons in January.  One of my bucket list things to do.  Anyway I started with a Takamine Accuostic, which I am very happy with.  But I just won an auction for a MIM Strat, Nice guitar, but poorly set-up.  So now I am having it set up a my local guitar store. Just curious what weight strings people are using on their strats. Thanks
