They sound very tinsley (sp?) on the higher strings like E and B.  Maybe the guage is too light. I used light when I'm used to Medium brass traditional strings.

Huh. I think I like the warm rich sound of the brass strings

Is it my imagination or do the Elixir strings sound totally different than the regular brass one?  I put on Elixir's last night and the higher strings sound totally different.  Any one agree?  I'm not sure I like the sound as much as the regular brass strings.

I lowered my bridge and changed the strings. Sounds completely different. I used Elixir Strings.  I think I like the regular strings better. Any one agree with me?

So that pinky will stretch? It just seems impossible right now.

Will my fingers stretch with practice ?
When I have my index on the second fret, my ring finger on the 4th fret and my pinky on the 6th fret - it's very tough for that pinky to get to the 6th fret to play the note.

Any encouragement?

I play every day since I started 3 months ago. My fingers still are a bit sore and my middle finger is black on the tip.  It's one mean callous.  I hoping the pain with stop or maybe my guitar is tough to play. It ain't now Martin or Taylor!

Does any think that if I pay $40.00 for a guitar set-up it will make my guitar sound that much better?
I can get the plastic thing below the sound hole shaved down to lower the action too.

I have a Jasmine Takamine acoustic. It cost me about $120.  Any thoughts? I'd like some opinions before I spend the money.

THANKS!

Hello! I have a Jasmine by Takamine acoustic guitar which I'm learning on now.  I've been playing for about 4 months every single day.  I've played other guitars and find them much much easier on the fingers! Is the Jasmine harder to play than others?

After 4 months my fingers look all chewed up. If I play for more then a 20 mins my fingers look nasty. Is that normal?  Also, barre chords on the Jasmine are difficult. I tried another guitar in a store and it seemed easier to barre.  Is this all my imagination or is this type of guitar tougher to play?   Thanks.

Someone told me there were something like 4 different shapes to memorize for the barre chords. They told me once I learn them, I'll be on my way. Can anyone tell me these shapes or advise a web site that will diagram them out for me?  Thanks!!!

Thanks everyone!  I tried to go to   http://www.grouptherapy.guernsey.net/strumming.html   but I can't seem to get into the site. Is the address correct? or maybe the site is temporarily down.  Thanks.

How can I understand the strumming pattern for all these songs? I'm a newbie and the strumming is what gets me everytime.  I've seen songs with the same chords sound completely different with a different strumming pattern. Any thoughts or ideas would be most helpful.
Thanks!@!!
