I used to sing a song (very tongue-in cheek) "My wife left town with a banana" but I've forgotton the second verse.  I heard it on a Dr Demento album once.I know nothing else about it other than the chords.
Does anybody know where I can get the words??  Please??
Peter
3 years later I'm still looking- I had it once on a Dr Demento LP

I'm looking for the words of - tis a gift to be simple - tis a gift to be free - an old -I believe American folk song. I'd love to hear back about ant info on it and of course the words. I once heard it on an old cowboy series "Alias Smith and Jones" always loved it.

Hi I'm a newbi here so maybe I'm in the wrong place but...........
I'm a Trad. Irish fiddleplayer with a very catholic taste in songs. 30 yrs ago living in Amsterdam I met an American lady who was 'keen' on a US lady singer (?) who sang "Clocks and Spoons, in empty rooms. It's raining out 2night...."
Don't know singer we had a wonderful affair built around our "music practice" and I'd LOVE to get words+chords.
Any offers??
Peter
failing that ....if you know her new phone no...........???

Hi I've just joined up. I'm SOOOOOOOOooo happy I've found you .
I live for (and by) music and though I'm a died-in-the-wool trad Irish fiddle-player I do like to sing and like to have the words AND chords in front of me.
I'm so grateful for this .Thank you.
Peter
ps if anyone wants trad Irish tunes let me know - if I can help, I will. I've been playing since 1953.
