Being from Macon Ga., I've got to bring up two exceptionally talented and overlooked guitarists, Duane Allman and Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers.

I've been playing about a year so I'm no expert but I will say the best way to learn a strum pattern for any song is to listen to the song over and over then play along with it. Over time it becomes just a feeling. If that makes any sense.

Been working hard on my minor pentatonic scales, and ready to try some solos with actual songs. My question ,which may sound stupid, is what chords or keys do A minor and E minor scales go with.

I started playing guitar back in August 2007(accoustic). I was proud of the progress I was making. Then 2 weeks ago I bought an electric and been having the time of my life. Iknow I'm still a newbie, but do most people imrove dramatically like I feel Ive done after playng on an electric? I mean it really improved my acoustic playing alot. Sound normal? Also it seems much easier to play the electric, more comfortable I mean. By the way Im 42.

im almost 42 , i just started playing last august (2007) . ive always loved music but never took the time to learn to play guitar. now i wish i wouldve started years ago. im still at that overwhelmed stage now. i am taking lessons, but honestly my instructor seems to be more interested in showing me how good he is instead of teaching basics. ive taught myself alot and i practice all the time, i wish i had someone to play with ive always heard thats how you improve rapidly. sorry for rambling on, but play!!!! never too late while youre still breathing.
