Feel free to add anything you think could help the song.

Now since you're asking, I do have some ideas regarding the tempo and the style but like I said in the original post, you can keep what you feel is right and add in the rest.

In terms of style the song is like indie with a little alternative rock kind of style. Sort of like a Damien Rice song, sombre but melodic. That gives you an idea of the tempo which should be slow to fit that idea.

But don't mind this. Go with what your gut  tells you and whatever comes to mind I'm sure will be great.

Thanks for the help Russ.

Hi guys. A week ago I got an email from Roger Guppy asking for lyrics to this chorus he has, and that got me thinking hey I wanna do that. So I found a song I've written that is incomplete and that the more I try to finish can't seem to do it. So I ask for your help. I wrote it on chordpro format to try it out, and that way you can get the feeling of the song and see if you can come up with something. Also that way you can print it and work on it in your spare time. I know the song it's a little depressing but heck that's why I haven't finished it hehe...

If you do decide to send something even if it's just a verse send it to my email so that it leaves the door open for others to come up with their own ideas. I'm leaving you with a verse and a chorus but feel free to just keep the chorus or the verse or a line, whatever works for you. Once I get all the input from you guys I'll pile it and try to make sense of it all.

My email is smart.deedee@gmail.com . You can send your ideas there. Thanks for the imput and the help.

P.S.: This isn't a contest, but I do hope to record it once I get my home studio set for it. Thanks guys wink

Hi guys.

So I'm thinking of buying a mic in order for me to get better recordings, but I want to hear some advice on which mic would be best. I've looked online at a couple of mics and the one I think fits the bill in all senses in the Shure PG58, which has a Frequency Response of 60 to 15,000 Hz. This one in particular comes with the cable and the price is low compared to other items of the same brand that are double the value. I understand that Shure is a brand of quality, but since I'm don't know much about audio I want to know your opinion.

Thanks guys...

Guys thanks for the advice. Now reading this a question came to mind...

Is mentioned in the original post that if I were to record an instrument is best if I plug it to the computer through the pick up. Now I don't yet have the pleasure of owning an electric guitar so my recordings are limited to my acoustic, so I wonder if using a pick up instead of a mic to record the acoustic guitar would give me less background noise. Has any of you experimented with this?

Hey guys...

Have any of you bought or played fretmaster guitars?...Because lately I've been interested in adding a new guitar to my collection and want to know what your thoughts are on this brand of guitars. Also how about their basses because I saw an elctroacoustic bass from them and I'm tempted to get me one.

Thanks for your opinions

Thanks guys for the tips.

Yesterday after I posted I read a bit on audacity and tought that would be a better editor than the one I use, so thank you Russell for the advice and I will make some time to look at the tutorials and check out the software.

Now on the mic front I have lately considered buying the mic but didn't really know which one would be best for my needs, so thank you Doug for the advice. To be more specific I own an acoustic guitar which I use for my recordings and also have a keyboard but haven't recorded anything with it, for now it's just the guitar and my vocals. A while ago I did some research on mics and saw that some of them are versatile and can be used to record instruments and vocals as well, so if any of you have some imput on this I'd appreciate it.

Thank you guys again and best wishes...

Hi guys. Hope you're all rockin good.

So I'm fairly new to recording digitally or in any format for that matter, and i really want to get a better setup because right now it's basically my webcam mic plugged into the mic port of my laptop and I use magix music maker to do the mixing. It doesn´t sound as bas as the setup would lead to believe but I know that I could get better recordings. So I'd really appreciate any input you guys have. I'm willing to invest some money on that but my budget it's very small.

I've read up a bit on audio interfaces and if any of you have some knowledge on this that you can share I'd appreciate it. I've seen some of them are cheap and don't take much space so they's fit the budget and also my room which it's not big.

Thanks y'all.

Hello everyone.

I've been a selftaught player for quite sometime and lately have been looking for ways to achieve different sounds from the guitar. I have read a bit on altered tunings and tried a few of them ( EADGBD for example) but have had a hard time trying to figure out how to find the shapes for the chords according to the tuning.

If any of you have any information on altered tunings in general and how to find the shapes easily I would really apreciate it. Also if any of you has information on how to find in standard tuning the most common chord shapes in other positions different than position one. Thanks.

Hey guys!

Like you said, shame what's happened to rock, most bands they're all posers. I still think there are a couple bands and artists who do some good rock, but they don't get much notoriety. I think right now the best rock band is the foo fighters in the rock genre, but they're about it....oh and coldplay is good too but I don't count them as a rock band.

I'm 21 and my parents always played on the stereo all the beatles albums...also queen and rolling stones. A couple of amarican bands too...i particularly remember the beach boys, which i love. In the 70's it was much about pop music, and rock started to go glam and well, it all went downhill from there...but what can you do.

I'm getting some badass callouses on my left hand and i show them proud...kinda like when hockey players get hit and later show them with pride...the callouses are painfull but it comes with the territory....To all of you keep on playing and making music, cause it's one of the simple pleassures of life.

Yeah...that's the hardest part...the pressure. And the fingers well, I'm not too old but my fingers are little so is still hard to hit the barre chords (sorry I wrote it wrong...my bad).

Hi everyone.

I recently found out about this site. Everyone is really friendly and it's nice to meet so many people with a passion for this instrument.  Congrats to the guys at the site, keep up the good work.

So now onto my problem. I've been playing the guitar for a while, off and on depending on school, but lately I've been getting more serious about it and want to learn more since I really don't get past a couple of chord shapes I know. This site has been really helpful in getting me more excited about learning the proper way, and I have noticed that most songs use bar chords. I usually try to avoid them by using variations of those chords, but lately I've been thinking that isn't the way to go. So I'd really like to get some advice on how I could learn those chords, by that I mean if there are any excersises I can do to progressively play those chords. I'm very perseverant (practice everyday) but really like to get over this self-made obstacle I've put on my playing.

Thanks in advance for all your feedback.
