I just got my first acoustic guitar. I played electric for around 1 year before i got an acoustic so I have a little bit of experience.
What I am looking for is some songs to play, that are in the skill range of easy to medium, or even medium hard. I don't really mind what bands or types of music it is, I am playing to get better and so I have a few more songs to mess around with. But just in case you have many in mind and only want to pick a few, here's a small list of a few bands I like:

- Violent femmes
- Sublime
- System of a down
- Foo fighters
- Neil Young
- Red hot chili peppers

Those are a few favorites, but that doesn't mean that you have to pick a song by one of them. I am looking for any song, that will help me get better, and have some fun while im at it.

Thanks all

Well as far as the earning the money part, thats all up to you. Theres a small chance that someones idea will really make you get up and go do that. But a good place to look for an amp would just be a local guitar shop, like if your not to picky, you can just buy a used one. I bought a fender stage 100 watt amp for 75$. Good luck!

Can anyone tell me some easy songs or riffs that are played with barre chords. Also i've never read tab for barre chords, is it pretty easy to understand?

Try Ac-Dc back in black
      Ac-Dc highway to hell
      Ac-Dc dirty deeds
Jimmi hendrix smoke on the water
      Jimmi hendrix wild thing

Not to sure if i got all the artists right, if not im sorry, although it doesnt matter to much. Sorry i cant include any actual chords but none should be at all hard to find, and even easier to play.

Ok, i think that this is one i can actually answer and hopefully help. For me the best thing was to learn the majors and a few minors, A and E mostly, and you can play some great stuff. Also practice barre chords and power chords, they help alot and are pretty easy to learn because its a lot of fun to play those. I can give you links to some really helpful videos also if you want to learn some songs, just tell me or post back here if you want to know. And try not to listen to the whole practice all day, You dont have to be so dedicated that you spend all day, or force yourself to do it. Have fun, dont force your self to play when its not fun. Look on youtube for videos, they help a hell of a lot.

Well its not a huge deal. Im not wanting to get a piece of crap guitar, just so it could be green. I was just wondering if there was any type certain dealer that made more odd colors, but since my question may have already been answered, im going to go do some research. Although i dont much like epiphone.

Ok, so when i was looking for my first guitar i thought it would be cool to get a green one. Couldnt find one in my price range though. So what im asking is does anybody know were or how i can order a guitar in the color i want? I like playing ibanez, and gibson guitars, although im not at all picky about brands, nor if there name brands. Thanks all

Ok thanks to both of you for taking the time to help me out, and cyntia i dont sing, although i do have a keyboard with drums, and i dont like playing infront of people much, i rarely do it.

First to Cyntia, the reason i said in distortion is because im not all that great with barre chords so i play in distortion to make what i play sound better. And I know that it is free spirited and at your own pace, but im just so horrible at learning songs on my own. I taught myself chords, barre chords, and learned quick with stuff others showed me like songs. But for some reason i just cant really learn a song on my on. The only reason im really ok at chords is because i make up all my own stuff to practice with. I can read tab decent like i said before, but cant really make songs out of it. Also i love guitar im just getting sick of playing the same few things. I mean i am decent for how long i've been playing, but around people i cant play anything alright to showoff/show them im decent.

Ok  so i've been playing about 3 months now. I can play all the major chords and most minor. I also know a few barre chords. My dad was teaching me but that kind of stopped. But before then he said once i learn barre chords, songs will come rolling in. I don't understand tab all that great, but i can read some of the easier stuff. I would like to learn some older barre chord songs in drop d or something, like Greenday or something easier. What im really looking for is someone to sort of teach me tab, and show me some easier stuff to play with barre chords. I need to get out of this rut considering i can't play more then 30 minutes a day now.
