I was wondering if there were any other fans of the Progressive Rock band "Coheed and Cambria". I am a HUGE fan, a band mate of mine introduced me to them almost a year ago, and in that time, I have learned about 10 of their songs by heart, a great deal of my lead playing style is influenced by their lead guitarist Travis Stever, and my vocal style is heavily influenced by their lead singer/guitarist Claudio Sanchez. I can sing in the high falsetto register he uses, but I prefer to sing a bit lower for comfort reasons. I also love the fact that they have one story concept behind all of their albums.

I was wondering if anyone else on Chordie enjoyed listening to/playing Coheed and Cambria? If so, what are your favorite songs?

PS, My first concert was actually going to the Vans Warped Tour to see Coheed and Cambria in Cleveland

I love coheed, theyre by far one of my fav bands. I hate it when people call them emo. Their guitarists blow me away with their genius licks in pretty much every song. Right now my fav songs are :welcome home, the final cut, gravemarkers and gunslingers, and in keeping secrets of the silent earth 3.

E7. http://www.all-guitar-chords.com/chord_name.php This website is amazing for chord names.

And now shall begin the list of crap artists/bands. Best to copy, paste, and add to the list when you find a new one you hate.

Celine Dion
Whitney houston
Christina Aguilera
Britney Spears
Justin Timberlake
Enrique (The Mole) Iglesias
Ordinary Boys
Culture Club
Boy George
George Michael
Wham
Bananarama
Oasis
Nirvana (I just didn't get that whole Grunge "i'm going to kill myself my life is awful because I AM A BLOODY MILLIONAIRE!!" sort of thing)
Biffy Clyro (Again, a poor man's Foo Fighters)
Rihanna
Ciara
Ludicris
Puffy Piddly Widdly Diddly Big Daddy Giant Haystacks Hulk Hogan Puff (Or whatever his name is now)
Usher
Kanye West
Mariah Carey
Goat Slayer Bands (IE - Bands that just play lots of power chords and scream over the top)

Crowded House
Lionel Ritchie
Phil Collins (Just something about him makes me want to slap him)
Rick Astley
Rod Stewart
Calvin Harris
David Guetta

Snoopy Doggy Woof Woof
The Fray (Whiney horribe little scrotes)
U2...Total garbage their later stuff, earlier stuff ie - Joshua Tree is good but when Bono got mega politically up himself i started HATING them. Plus i think "The Edge" (What a tit) is not that good and is just and effects pedal freak. Imagine a catastrophic effects cock-up at a U2 concert?! You'd just hear Edgey Boy playing Jingle Bells
Anyway....Razorlight
The Feeling
Arcade Fire
The Automatic
Bon Jovi
Box Car Racer
Franz Ferdinand
Fallout Boy
Il Divo
Good Charlotte
Ian Dury and the Blockheads
Justin Hawkins
The Darkness
Limp Bizkit (Wes Borland - Good...Fred Durst - BAD)
Lenny Kravitz - Jimi Hendrix wannabe
Pete Doherty
Maximo Park
POD
Panic! At The Disco
Steve Vai - Now don't get me wrong, immensely talented and gifted but such a big-head! Some, no, 99% of the stuff he plays is just dross of the worst kind. He just plays the most far-out crap he can peddle and hopes to get away with it. At Least Paul Gilbert could play in bands and work around lyrics. Vai can't be trusted to just play something simple. However i do have massive respect for the man.
MAROON 5!
HelloGoodbye

Anyway thats only my opinion

Oh and if youre a fan of metal, avenged sevenfold uses drop d a lot. Check out the songs "beast and the harlot" and "bat country." Im not a huge fan of them, but they sound really cool and will help improve your drop d abilities.

The new White stripes album is awesome, as always. It's got a lot of variety, Anyone could find a song they like on it.

Teenagers by My Chemical Romance. (if you dont like the nu-metal MCR think again, this song is TOTALLY 70's punk). There are no decent tabs online for it though, Ill post the tabs for it eventually.

Yeah basically everyones got it. Like A good sounding chord like this is A/C#, which would be played like a regular A except that instead of an open A string as the root you fret play the fourth fret A string (which is C#).

Okay tabs are real easy just the number is the fret you'll pout your finger on on that string, if there is a zero you play an open string, and if there is nothing you dont play any note on that string.

I find this topic utterly amazing. I cannot believe that the musicians in your church have treated you like this. Some people tend to forget that they had to learn too.
I have kept my guitar pretty much a secret from my church group because when they find out they will be HOUNDING ME TO JOIN IN! But I don't feel confident enough yet.

This group of people in your church need to realise that they may not always be there. For whatever reason they may move on, or whatever. Where does this then leave your church? With nobody left to carry on the music. They need to see the bigger picture and realise that the work of the church is what's important and not their own little private club.

Most churches that I know are desperate for people to join their groups (for all activities) so that they can carry on into the future. This even goes as far as welcoming people without any church background in the hope at showing people what it's all about and sparking an interest  in their spiritual life.

What surprises me most is that they do not even invite you to rehersals. They are quite happy to watch you struggle away DURING SERVICES and then tell you to pipe down! Something not right there.

I have nothing but admiration for the way you have stuck it out.

Thank you. I, also, have the desire to be 100% on point when playing with my church but I realize that I never get to be around any other musicians or live music except when I'm at church. That was the only thing that brought me out of my shell enough to even try playing with them. It was a real kick in the pants when I realized that I wasn't allowed into the "Inner Circle".  Heck, I saw this one praise group online that had a drummer, keyboardist, 4 electric guitars, 2 bass guitars and one acoustic guitar! And they were all praising the Lord wonderfully! There's no set formula for how you praise the Lord. But I realize now that this isn't about them, it's about God! It's about praising Him my own way and helping to lift HIM up in any way that I can, irregardless of what anyone else does to try to hold me back.

I just keep looking at it like this....

If I made it through high-school and the pennyannie mindsets there....I can DEFINITELY make it through this!
This is proving to be much easier to overcome than high-school. AND....I have GOD on my side now!! I didn't know Him back in high-school, but I wish I did.

=]
Dm

Amen to that brothuh. It annoys me when people try to define the way you worship the LORD. Do it however you feel pleases Him most!!!!
