Currently teaching myself from cd's/dvd's/tuition books. I find it boring if you just stick to what these are teaching you (although very useful). I have been learning some easy songs aswell as learning from the different formats which seems to have given me an extra advantage at getting used to some akward chord changes us beginners face.

Hi everyone,
Im 29 in a few weeks. Picked up my first guitar a week ago and can gladly say i find learning quite easy. chord changes are coming together and strumming patterens are working well. Hope to get some useful tips from all you keen musicians....young and old.

I have never tried lowering the bridge on my guitar..but have always stuck to a rule when changing my strings to avoid any damage to the fret board.
Change strings one by one . This way its vertually impossible to cause any damage.

Same here Badeye. There's nothing like finishing work early and coming home to give the guitar its daily workout.

Re: Electric Or Acoustic? (21 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
I have been learning guitar for about a week now and was in a situation where i could borrow an electric guitar or buy a mate's 6 month old acoustic. I tried both for a week and decided that id buy the acoustic off him. Glad i did now, Im finding it alot easier to learn with. Mistakes can be heard clearer in my view. Fingers are a tad sore at the moment but im sure this will pass as time goes by.
