Hi all,
Does anyone know the solo in Yazoo - Only You.
I've got the chords but there's no solo in the tab just "solo here".
Cheers,
Oldsoulman

Thanks, the big 50 next year, where did that time go ?
I've been looking for this as it was no 1 the day I was born, 11-Jan 1960.
I know, very old.....

Greetings all,
Well I've just got my third guitar, a christmas present from my fave Aunt. Its a red Oldfield SH20 semi-acoustic, what a peach of a guitar and what a present !
I've also got a Fender Tele and a Yamaha APX acoustic.
I've got 2 questions -
- has anyone got one of these Oldfield guitars and what are they like, so far its outstanding,
- also I've got a Kustom 10FX amp and I'm going to buy a new amp. I've looked at a Line 6 Spider, either the 15 or the 30 watt. Does anyone have any of these and what are they like.
Cheers,
Oldsoulman
Does anyone have the tabs to Spanish Harlem by The Drifters. I can get the chords but I really want the whole song in tabs.
Cheers,

Does nobody play instrumental or am I too old with my song choices ?
Hi,
I've been playing for a few years and recently joined a guitar club where everyone performs a few songs during the night.
I enjoy soul music but I'm useless at singing, unless you wan't it to rain, I've been playing songs that everyone knows and can sing along, such as "Dock of the Bay" etc.
Does anyone know any instrumentals, the ones I'm working on now are
Albatross - Fleetwood Mac
Jessica - Allman Brothers
Foot Tapper - The Shadows
Classical Gas - Mason Williams
There's one special one if anyone knows the tabs for 'You've got to pay the price' by Al Kent, its a 1960's soul instrumental, its pretty rare.
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Can anyone point me to tabs, chords or music for Al Kent - You've got to pay the price.
Its an instrumental from the 60's and I cannot find it anywhere other than on youtube. I even have the single.
It sounds like it is a simple song but I can't figure out the tabs.
Anybody any ideas or even which key it starts in.
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Hi Pixm,
If you havn't already bought your guitar then a couple of good shops to try are
Soundcontrol in Manchester
Chase in Manchester
John Rose Music in Sale
I'll leave it up you but Chase is suprising reasonable and put Dawsons to shame.
Good luck seaching.
Greetings,
Saw a film the other night with this in and I'd forgotten all about this record. Its such a great record as its one of the classic early soul records in the UK, so I dug the 7" single out but I can't find any tabs or chords for this on the web, can anyone help ?
Cheers,
Oldsoulman
Greetings all,
Saw this at my local music shop, it "looks" good, I am going back next week to try it out but has anyone got one, are they any good or should I save my money, its only £179.
I've checked the web and come across mixed reviews.
Over to you.
Hi,
I'd like to get this as well since it it was no 1 in the Uk the day I was born.
Cheers.
Hi,
I recently got a R&B sheet book from a library covering songs from the 60's to the 80's. It included songs from the Stax / Atlantic era by Steve Cropper (Soul Man, Dock of the Bay, B-A-B-Y, etc). The book was mainly for Piano with some chords and not guitar as they didn't have a specific guitar book covering this.
I know this depends on which songs I want but does anyone know of any R&B chord / tab sites for Steve Cropper.
Also I've given up looking for any Northern Soul songs. The one I really want is "Real Humdinger" by JJ Barnes.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Printable words fail me ....
Practise, practise, practise, for another 20 year, and maybe shave my hair off and grow a beard !
By that time it'll be too late.
Amazing.
Oldsoulman.
Old Doll,
Thanks I have most of the tab sites already set up as favourites but I hadn't found that site.
By the way I'm looking for sites with tabs for 60's soul music specifically for Northern Soul, Stax, Atlantic, Chess & Tamla Motown.
I know this is showing my age.
I hope you know what these are.
Any ideas of sites,
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Keiran,
Thanks for the info.
I'll get the appropriate strings this week. In fact for a few beers I'll try and persuade one of the expert guitarist's at work to check it out and give me a hand. (The beers will be for after the re-string).
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Greetings,
I have a Yamaha APX 4A SPL and it sometimes has fret rattle. I am planning to change the strings this week.
I realise this is not a new guitar but until recently it has sounded so sweet.
I have only ever changed the E string on this when I got the guitar and I am unsure if this will resolve the problem.
I store it in a case and not stood up so as to damage the head.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
Greetings one and all,
Can anyone point me to the right place for the tabs & chords for "Chris Rea's - Lets Dance".
All I can find are sites with lyrics.
Thanks,
Oldsoulman
When I started I thought B7 and Em7 were impossible. Now I'm ok with these.
The one I hate is Add9 in th Beatles "I need you". You've got to have bendy fingers for that.
Keep practising.
Excellent question and hard to think of just 5 songs, but for me its....
Tracks of my tears - Smokey Robinson
You're the best thing - Paul Weller / Style Council
Substitute - The Who
La Bamba - Los Lobos
You've got to hide your love away - The Beatles
For an encore
Here comes the sun - The Beatles
Mr Tamborine Man - Bob Dylan
and finally
Life of Mars - David Bowie
told you it was hard to keep to 5.
and if anyone knows where I can get tabs for Northern Soul music tabs please let me know.
Cheers,
Oldsoulman
The song is "Never let her slip away" by Andrew Gold.
Recorded in 1978 on Asylum Records.
An excellent record if ever there was one.
I have a Yamaha APX4 semi-acoustic that sounds so smooth and mellow.
The action is higher than my Fender Telecaster and your fingers hurt but you get used to it.
I nearly bought an older Ovation Applause but when I decided it had gone.
Try out a few before you buy.
Oldsoulman
At first I sounded horrible but I practise every night for 1 hour, and in 2 years you start to be able to play better, switching chords becomes easier and the best is when someone else recognises what your playing.
A great feeling is when I could play one simple chord, Fmaj7. At first I hadn't heard of and couldn't play it. Now its so easy and it is such a great smooth sounding chord.
I know that sounds sad.
Where I work I'm not the only one having a mid-life crisis who are playing guitar again. There must be 6 or 7 of us, plus a few really good guitarists. Who knows maybe a band ?
But you've got to practise and enjoy it.
Oldsoulman
I'm 47 and started properly at 45. I did play a little when I was a teenager but I had other things on my mind.
Unless your dedicated when your younger you don't practise enough. I practise for 1 hour each night.
Being older your fingers may not be as quick as someone younger and they may hurt more, but in time you get used to it.
I always wanted to play again and it was my son who encouraged me to start again.
