I Hate them and I love them...... quite frustrating as my rational side knows its a lazy suicide and my mind just keeps me comming back to tobbaco.....

Yes Mike the players are over paid. Its crazy what they ask
for conssesions and such. Hard to afford a game with those prices. Can you guys get the Habs games on T V , or is it blacked out so fans have to pay crazy prices????Hockey joke- Toronto's Goalie got hit by a bus on the weekend. It went right through his legs. I should'nt talk I'm a BRUIN fan. lol.
Take care...Badeye.
No blackouts here....the people would litterally riot if that would happen. Just think of the riots the last time we won the stanly cup, and they were happy! Trashed the whole downtown core.

Hi Mike things here are pretty good. Fall in the air with trees turning color, frost in mornings. Nice to see Hockey is back, there are a lot of Hab fans here on the east coast. Hope you enjoy the game.
Take Care ...Brad.
Hey Brad, Colors are starting to change here also, The Game was ok, my boss told me they were playing the Flyers but when he gave me the tickets I noticed they were playing Pittsburgh, Montreal got a good old ass whooping! Doesn't matter, the tickets were free and we were well seated. What a ripoff though. If you want to go see a game, eat and drink..... better go see the bank for a new morgage! Tickets average 150$, 3.50$ just for a hotdog, 9.50 for a beer....... well you get the idea.

Since we all hail from different parts I thought it would be interesting to listen to the radio stations that you listen to. Since most major stations have a live feed on the internet we can post the web site here and share.
I listen to an clasic rock station in Montreal called CHOM FM. http://www.chom.com/

Hmmmm, if I walk to the end of my backyard and turn left I have cows about 400 meters away and I have a groundhog living under my shed...... gotta try the guitar on them. As for my pets, my cats tend to want to sleep in my guitar case if I leave it open, my dogs will bump my guitar while I'm playing but I do know that they just want me to focus my attention on them instead of the guitar. Now my rabbit just loves the music and always comes running up to me when I play only I have to watch that the little sucker doesn't nibble on the wood!

You could call it illegal because it is.
and on this subject...the arctic monkeys first gave their music for free on the internet, before getting signed. After they got signed the record comany brought out an album of songs they had already let people dowload for free. And guess who bought their album? yep!! the majority of people that dowloaded the free stuff.
The copyright holder has exclusive rights on their music. If they want to give it away on the internet, great. If they want to put it on a disk and charge for it, that's great too. The point being, they have that right. You not respecting their rights is wrong.

Re: MENTALITY: Europe versus USA (40 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I don't want to get too involved in this being neither American or European.
As an athiest I cannot speak on behalf of others religions. I do believe that we are accountable to each other though. Social rules and life rules are a must if we are to share this great planet we call home. I tend to live my life based on fundamental principals that I find are good. On the whole I ask myself before taking any decision or action ...
Will my parents be proud of me, will my wife still love me and will I still be able to look my children in the eye.
It hasn't let me down yet.

Thanks everyone,
We are all very happy with our new home....even my teenage daughter who thought moving to a rural area was the end of the world. LOL
We are very comfortable and are enjoying the peace and quiet. All you can hear are the crickets and the wind. I told the kids that the odor of manure is good for the health..... no one bought that one.
Happy to be back,

Re: What are you looking at! (17 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I was actually just working on my own song that I have just posted in the songwriters section , I named it " dog walkers, joggers, tramps and drunks."
After walking in Balloch park last night for my wife's " family after dinner walk " that she has decided is a good thing to do. I saw how full it was wit hdog walkers and joggers. Then I thought about Dalmuir park where I used to live and how it was full of wee neds drinking and old tramps wondering about at night.
So I combined the two parks together and wrote a song.Ken
Hey Ken as long as you walk and not jog, if you jog the ice could fall out of your drink! Something to remember as the result could be dramatic....

Did you ever hold a flame close to your a**? You should try it, and certainly after a big meal, with beans, eggs, brussels sprouts, yep, these green things are from Belgium.
You can even fart in a bottle (the more he smells the better) and close the bottle immediately. One year later, you ask someone to open the bottle, and look at his/her face: it still smells like hell (but you really need to close it very well).
About farting: I am sure if this is your speciality, you can place a microphone and instead of being a guitar player, you are a (F)artist (nice word by the way): what do you do for living, WELL I AM A FARTIST.
At the end of 1800 (1894) and 1900 there was a guy performing in Paris, in the MOULIN ROUGE, called "le petomane"( translated in English: the fart maniac. (see wikipedia). His real name is, or was JOSEPH PUJOL (+1945). He was able to fart the "Marseillaise= French national hymn.
On youtube there is a video called "blazing sadles".
Today there are also some FARTISTS. Take google: search fart artists, you will even see that they sell a "fart cd" on amazon.com.
Small extra note: every living person farts a few hours a day, most of the people don't realise it. When you breathe, or you drink a soda, just remember that the air going IN, has to come OUT. Oral & Anal.
If we are able to colour a fart, in red or green, you will see, walking on 5th avenue in New York, a lot of red "clouds" behind men and women.
Hey doc you could have written you thesis on that alone........
ok things impossible....
Reading your doctors handwritting.

Re: best way to strum working class heroe (4 replies, posted in Song requests)
This is a great song. As I have mentioned before, I find playing and listening with my eyes closed helps me to figure out strumming patterns. If you are a beginer and cannot play with eyes closed then at least listen to the song that way. I find the best way is to put on head phones, lay down on the floor in the dark so that there are no distractions and listen........it should come to you.

Re: RELATION MUSIC with MATHEMATICS (12 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
From the NCTM News Bulletin, July/August 1999.
Some mathematical concepts fundamental to music:
Counting: Counting is fundamental to playing music. One must count beats per measure and count how long to hold notes.
Patterns: Music is full of patterns -- patterns of notes, chords, and key changes. Musicians learn to recognize these quickly. Patterns, and being able to invert them (known as counterpoint), help musicians form harmonies.
Geometry: Music students use geometric shapes to help them remember the correct finger position for notes or chords (more than one note played simultaneously). For instance, guitar players’ fingers often form triangular shapes on the neck of the guitar.
Ratios, proportions, and fractions: Reading music requires an understanding of ratios and proportions. For instance, a whole note needs to be played for twice as long as a half note, four times as long as a quarter note, and so forth. Divisions of the beat, placement of the strong and weak musical beats, and even determining when to take a breath while playing a wind instrument or singing depends upon fractions, multiples, and groupings of beats.
