I'm on an Ipad - gotta be better on that surely? Can't view Chordie using Safari on it as the size comes out wrong. I would pay a fiver for a good app that kept my song book offline. Sounds from the posts that it isn't working well yet.

Cheers guys. It now makes sense! I will have a go. It's not easy, but it does sound good.

Thanks guys. Mind you, as I never studied music, some of the terminology is leaving me a bit behind. I can ask my 19 yerar old son but he takes the guitar off me, shows me some complicated stuff, goes off into another tune altogether and then walks off with the guitar!!!
Now I can read TAB ok, but generally leave it alone as my picking is horrendous. However, it just so happens that someone taught me how to pick house of the rising sun so I'm clueing in here as to how to do it. Can you give me TABS for the arpeggios for each of the chords or someplace on the net where I can find them? I promise to keep at it!!
I don't play with a pick - strum with back of four finger nails and thumbnail the up-stroke. You should see my son's face at my playing...

Playing simple Elvis - see below - and the writer says playing in Arpeggios is a nice way to do it. What exactly does this mean?

m]like a river [Am]flows
[Em]surely to the [Am]sea
[Em]darling so it [Am]goes
[Em]some things were [A7]meant to [Dm]be[G7]
Take my hand take my whole life tocause i can't help falling in love with you(Bridge)(Last verse + repeat last line)
there you have it. playing arpeggios is a nice way to play this one. enjoy.

the numbers represent the frets - this is how many frets down you push the string.

The order of the numbers is the strings.
first number is your thinnest string
second number is the slightly thicker string
and so on
zeros mean you don't put a finger on that string

thus G looks like
3
0
0
0
2
3

Well, i think i get it. I am making the d7 shape and then barring it on the first fret. This is

111323

is this right?

It sounds a little off from the E7, but then I'm your usual beginner - tone deaf!

I am trying to play Jamming by Bob M and I've got to play:

We're [Bm]jamming[E7]

[G]I wanna jam it with [F#m7]you,

We're [Bm]jamming [E7]jamming

and I [G]hope you like jamming [F#m7]too.

Ain't no [Bm]rules ain't no [E7]vow we can [Bm]do it any[E7]how

and [G]I Jah know will see you th[F#m7]rough,

'Cos every [Bm]day we pay the [E7]price with a [Bm]loving sacri[E7]fice

[G]jamming till the jam is [F#m7]through.

Now I am a weak player and I can do a Bm with the tongue out and I cheat on the E7 by playing the Em and if I am lucky I might get the pinky down on the last string. But I am buggered if I can get from Bm to Em let alone E7 in two sharp struts and then back again without playing splodge chords that sound discordant. Is there an easier bar progression that I can use or something? I am playing the standard E(7 in my dreams) and standard Bm.
