Hello to one and all,

I am hoping someone will be able to help me, I have been playing guitar for a couple of years and am progressing slowly but surely. I have been looking on chordie for songs that are well suited to be played in fingerstyle that are not too taxing. An example of a coupe I have learnt are Spanish Romance and REM Everybody hurts.
Does anyone know of any others, or could point me in the right direction as most song formats seem to be designed to be strummed along to.

Thanks

Justin

Thanks for all your help, the chart is really good.

No doubt my weekend is going to be spend practicing and losing the rag for not getting it!!!

Hi All,

This may be a silly question, however I have noticed alot of questions recently about learning bare chords etc.

I am newish to the guitar and have pretty much mastered all the basic chord shapes (E,C,G,D,Am,Em,Dm,F) etc etc, and can move quickly between them.

However, where can I find the barre chord equivilent of all these chords. I am having difficulty playing F barre but reckon if I had barres of all the normal chords it would make it easier to practice.

I am fairly sure the reason I don't know the answer is due to my lack of understanding of music theory. But if I could get a chart that showed the barre equivilents it would be really helpful

Thanks in advance

I recently purchased a Tanglewood Semi Acoustic for just under £300, it sounds great on its own or through an amp. The guy in the store I bought it was very helpful, and whilst I played it in store myself (fairly poorly) the sales man picked it up and played a few tunes which really helped too, although I can't help feeling that he played the cheaper guitars a little worse than the Tanglewood I eventually bought to help sway my decision!

I am relatively new to the guitar but also wanted to learn finger picking. I found that yes, you can learn snippets here and there for finger picking, but this only helped for individual songs or licks.

I bough a book called 'Finger Picking Guitar Manual' by Brett Duncan and must say it is excellent. It takes you right from basic theory up to near professional levels. It comes with 2 CD's and each lesson leads nicely into the next so you progress at a steady pace and if you stick at it (say a lesson or two a day) you really see yourself coming along quickly. Do a search for is on amazon. It is pricey, but definitely worth it. Out of all thye books I have seen this is definitely the most comprehensive and the format in which it is written is easy to work through.

Hey There,

I am also new to the guitar having been playing for the past year. I hit the same wall as you and could just not grasp strumming patterns. I am still no means an expert but I did find it helped if you sing along to the song you are trying to strum to. (doesn't work for all songs however). I don't have a good singing voice, but it certainly helped with exactly when to change chords and basic rhythms

Some songs that I found could be strummed to very easily are:

Importance of being Idle - Oasis

Half The World Away - Oasis

Man On The Moon - REM

All About You - McFly

American Pie - Various Artists

Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen

I found that by practicing these over and over you eventually start to pick up other songs more easily.

If you hear any other good tips though please keep me posted.

If its any use to you, I recently purchased a Tanglewood TW28 CE-Q electro acoustic and it sounds absolutely fantastic with or without amp, bueatiful finish as well.
Got mine for about £200 but if you shop around you will get it cheaper.

Hello all - I am relatively new to the guitar, and have managed to grasp the basics fairly well (I keep telling myself anyway!)

Does anyone live near Lisburn, in Northern Ireland that would like to meet up for the odd jam session and swap technique / song portfolio etc?
