I have a Seagull and I love it. They are handmade in Canada in the village of LaPattie Quebec. They are part of the Goden guitar family. The factory is subsidized by the Canadian government so you get a quality guitar for a low price. I have the S6+CW acoustic/electric. I think you should  sit down and play one of the Seagull models for five or ten minutes they have amazing tone and they play effortlessly.

A really easy way to play an open A is to make a little triangle with your middle finger on the D string second fret, your pointer finger at the top of the triangle close to the first fret on the G string , and your ring finger on the second fret on the B string. The triangel is contained between the frist and second fret. Look at the three strings and make your pointer finger as the point of the triangle.

Go to this website it's the best strumming lesson going. And it's free. Good luck.

Here's one that works with most beginners, later you can switch to more complex patterns.

DDUUDU   DDUUDU   DDUUDU  DDUUDU   DDUUDU   DDUUDU

I am attempting to learn a song -- Black Water by Doobie Brothers. The song calls for Double Drop Down Tuning. I have an electronic tuner. When I tune the high and low E strings to D it sounds wrong. When I go back to normal tuning it sounds almost like the Doobie's version. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Remember that Michael Jorden grew up in K-Mart tennis shoes, and Jose Conseco had a K-Mart glove and bat --- it's not the equipment. Learn to make your current guitar sound good and then later go buy the "best acustic".

I'm trying to learn "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers and the tab portion shows a capital "D" where the low "E" string is and it shows a lower case "d" where the high "E" string is. All the other strings A,D,G, and  B are where you'd expect them to be. Can someone browse the song and help me out here and show me what the author is trying to tell the reader? Thanks.

Have any of you tried the guitar lessons under the music catagory "Guitar Lessons" on the Comcast cable TV

"On Demand" section? I think they're great. I've learned many songs and you can rewind and pause while they're demonstrating how to play. All for free.

This is my rookie year -- I just started playing too. A friend told me to simply make an E chord with my second, third, and fourth finger (instead of first, second, and third), and then simply slide it up one fret(to the second fret), and then bar the first fret with my index finger. It works well and I'm learning to hit the F# quickly this way. Eventually I'll just go to the F# without the slide. Take care.
