Personally, I think this situation shows that the music industry's primary concern is the money they make, not the music they promote. If they really cared about music, doesn't it make sense that they would want to provide an easy way for people to learn songs, such as tabs? To me, the logical course of action would be to try to negotiate with the sites that host tabs. However, in most cases, it seems that the website in question was simply threatened with a lawsuit, without prior warning. I think the music industry sees these sites as easy targets for lawsuits. Notice that, while the music industry says they are defending the rights of artists and songwriters, I have yet to see a complaint from a songwriter. Having songs featured online is really free publicity.
