My fellow pickers and pickerette's. I done received dem picks. Got'em in todays mail. This is a real good thing that Topdown has got going and I apprieciate being a part of it. As I read Topdown' post, from a few day's ago, I see we have gotten away from how thangs were supposed to work and I want to be a part of getting it back on line. Since I have already committed to KPAP that he would be next after me I will be sending them on to him just as soon as I can make a decision on which picks I wanna keep and which ones of mine I want to part with. Anyone else who wants to a part ot this MUST wait until KPAP receive's the picks and THEN makes a a post stating that fact. Then and only then will the 1st person outta the millions and millions of Chordie fans to send KPAP a " I WANNA BE NEXT" post, be selected. I hope to be able to get the package out no later than Monday. KPAP, hope you are ready to browse through some mighty fine lookin' picks. Enjoy!

I was so excited that I didn't read the entire post Kenny.  So I guess it's when Roger receives them, the first one to respond, correct?

"Once" fan here too! Many times the "I'm in band" movies are way cheesey and no where near real. This movie was neither. Funny, cool, inspirational, and very real. I believe it was OLD DOLL that told me Hanspard and Irglova became a "real" dating couple after the movie. Great flick!

I love that the director/writer cast "real" musicians in most of the roles.  I read that the film was made for a crazy low amount, like $100,000 or $200,000.  Shot with handheld cam corders from a distance to make Glen and Marketa more at ease....you're right SouthPaw, it was very real and believable.  And it wouldn't surprise me that they got together as a real couple.  They had great chemistry on film!

Southpaw.....loved "Into the Wild"  It haunted me for days afterward.  And Syd1994, I love "Across the Universe".  We don't go to movies very often unless there's a Star Wars or Star Trek coming out.  Love all of Tim Burton's stuff.  Just watched Coraline the other night.  Other than that, anything with music in it, is my choice!

A great music/movie one is called, "Once".  With Glen Hansard (from the Irish Band the Frames and who was the guitar player in "The Commimtments) and Marketa Irglova.  It's a new-age musical, as it's not in the same format as most musicals.....there's dialogue without singing but lots of great music that the two characters play together...it's beautifully filmed, very simply, and just a great soundtrack.  They won an oscar for one of the songs I believe.

i love once!!
its really funny how they say the f word in a good context!! big_smile

Absolutely!  as in "F" you batteries!  wink  Listening to the soundtrack from "Once" as I type this.  wink  Great acoustic stuff on there.

OK, this might sound stupid but do you have the volume up on the guitar?  I've made that mistake before...why the freak isn't this picking up!  Doh!  only to realize it wasn't turned up.  wink  Also, are you plugging in the guitar to the tuner?  You didn't say for sure....again when I'm tuning my Taylor it works best when it's plugged directly into the tuner, volume up!  Hope that helps.  wink

Hey Crizzut....I just had my friend tweak my two electric guitars this weekend.  You might not have to change the nut or the bridge....just adjust the bridge (or get someone who knows how do it for you!)....then he filed down the nut on some of the slots so the strings wouldn't bind as much...after he filed them down he added some grahite (pencil shavings) to make sure the strings weren't binding again...my guitar sounds hot now!  Stays in tune much better and is easier to play!  My advice is to take it to someone who knows what they're doing....it might just be as simple as setting up the guitar to suit your needs!

RED TAPE!  so frustrating.....good luck Zurf....keep us posted!

Awesome, glad it's all in tip top shape now.

Cheers!

I checked out your you tube post Al.  I think for the money and purpose, it's perfect!  I'm sure it's much easier to play with a strap now too.  Have fun!

For the crackle try this, as provided to me by my guitar teacher......plug in your guitar but turn down the volume completely...then turn the volume/master on your amp all the way up and down, quickly a few times.....sometimes it's just dust/pet hair etc or a static build up that needs to be cleaned out.  I had the same problem on an amp and this fixed it!

Now that will be a great acoustic concert, I bet!  And I love James Taylor too!  Did you see him on the Elvis Costello show, "Spectacle" this season?  He's such a "gentle" man.  Really lovely to listen to him speak and play/sing.

Which song Are1222?  Hubby and I are learning, "Know your Enemy".  It's transcribed for guitar and bass in the latest edition of Guitar World.  smile

RavenLady

Two come to mind.

School's Out - Alice Cooper
Little Willy - Sweet

I remember playing the Alice Cooper album (Million Dollar Babies) over and over again.  And the 45 of Sweet, was sweeeettt. wink

Hey Megs, try going to Guitar World's website.  Each issue they transcribe 5 songs for guitar and bass included.  Green Day's "Know your Enemy" is included in the latest issue.  smile

Gotta agree with Ken.  I love the new album.  Just read an article in Guitar World with Billie Joe.  Very insightful.  About both bands.  Don't think I ever said that the Hot Tubs was just them Megan but sorry if I did.  It says right on the wikipedia page that I got that above quote from that there are 6 members in the band.
