Hi everyone - been a hot minute since I've been round these parts, but absolutely lovely to see some very familiar names still active in here. I hope everyone is well.
To those I've never "met" before, it's lovely to meet you all. Quite a lot has changed since I was last on, but brilliant to see this community is still going strong.

I figured I'd come back and share a song I've written - s'only polite and all. Hope you like it. My recorded (Garageband) version is available on Soundcloud at this link: https://soundcloud.com/mdr1977/listen

Now lemme see if I can still post songs all purdy like

Chordpro error: This is not a valid artistname. You will have to specify an artistname in the form {st: Artistname} in the beginning of the code.

Recording of this one is also on soundcloud at MDR1977 if you want to have a listen to it. Probably the easiest way to pick up the changes. Tried popping them in place but continually made a hash of it. More of a "feel" song as far as chord changes go.....or maybe that's my elaborate excuse for being lazy!

Exciting times Roger. That sounds like immense fun. Good on you and good luck with it. You'll have a blast!

Doh....also meant to say, there is a recording of this at my soundcloud page which is www.soundcloud.com/MDR1977

I think!

Ok, been a real while, lets see if I can remember how to post all purdy like.

This is a song I wrote whilst thinking about the whole suicide option when life gets tough. And by thinking about I mean pondering, not contemplating. I'm all good....my mind just drifted to the subject following a few recent events and some stuff from a ways back.

Best wishes to your brother in law and also to you and your family. Not easy times but fingers crossed for a happy ending. Plenty of positive thoughts coming your way from scotland TD.

Gig one.....done! Great work. Gets better and better from there. Now you know you can make a sound come out and won't freeze. Next time you'll have even more control over that sound and then....in ten gigs time as it continues to improve, you might just have a random stinker of a gig, that's my experience anyway smile

Well done for having the pebbles to step up and play. Like phil said, you were probably the only one that noticed something off. More of the same buddy

Howdy y'all.....thanks for such a lovely and warm welcome back. You are all far too kind, but it's lovely to hear from you.

Yes, been a busy time, but no more so than many others have been no doubt so it's nice to get back to a bit of normality, which absolutely includes staying in touch with the wonderful Chordians.

Sounds like there have been some jams and gatherings going on. They sound fantastic.....maybe I'll manage to get myself involved in one at some point.

As for me, well, married life is fantastic thus far. Long may it continue, but I'm loving it.

Things with the band are good. We were gigging this weekend on Friday night, supporting two wonderful bands and marking a real step up in levels for us. We were on the bill with 5th and Pontiac and also the superb King King (ft Alan Nimmo). Well worth checking both bands out.

I'm still writing and playing my own music, with the difference being that a lot of these songs end up in the mix with the band, which is great. I'll share in the right forum in due course but if anyone wants a listen of what I've been up to in the meantime, I've just made a soundcloud page at: http://www.soundcloud.com/mdr1977 and our band page is at: http://www.soundcloud.com/thecore-1

Anyway, thank you for being so welcoming as ever. I have genuinely missed spending much time on this site lately so it feels very nice to be back and I look forward to boring you all further in the very near future smile

Holla all,

Been a wee while since I've been on here, so firstly my apologies for my absence and silence. In my defence I have been a busy boy meeting and marrying my lovely lass, moving home and being busy with the band. However none of that is justification for neglecting such a wonderful group of people as this site is home to.

I got a pang the other day when thinking about this site and what it has actually meant to me over the years, hence why I've been so compelled to get back on here and check in at least.

I hope everyone is well and it's great to see all the usual suspects are pretty much all present and accounted for. How have you all been????

This site got me through some tough times, has been an absolute inspiration at times when I may ordinarily have given up and has introduced me to some genuinely lovely lovely people.

This is all my long winded way of saying something I covered in the title of this post......I have missed you guys a lot and its good to be back. I will try and be on here a lot more moving forward. It's good for the soul methinks.

So, what have I missed??

Nice work jeff....like it more than a little bit!

Sounds really cool. Gutted I can't join in but maybe at some point the stars will align and times etc will suit......damned curved earth!!

Have fun guys, sure it'll be a blast!

Sounds like a great idea........what's the story with it? I've not been on here in too long so have probably missed the explanation or previous discussions....

Howdy folks, thought I would share this one with y'all. It is a song I wrote a while back just on the acoustic....the second YouTube link shows it with the full band behind it and with the improvements that the guys made when I took the basic idea into the studio. Interesting changes methinks. The two videos give a kind of before and after comparison.

Nice work Jeff. Would be good to hear this if you get a chance to record it but I really like the story and how you've told it.

Thanks Jeff, appreciate the comments as ever. Interesting one about the harmonica, I might actually give that a go.....you know, before I go in with the band and they set about the song with their effects pedals and guitar wizardy and generally warp it out of all recognition. All which is decidedly more pleasant than I'm making it sound......but stripped back with harmonica could certainly work....plus it gives me an excuse to go buy one! Win-win!!

Recording of this one now on my Myspace page if you want to have a listen. Taking it in with the band soon so it might get the "full sound" treatment which is always fun. Hope you like anyway...

Sorry to hear about your trousers Roger. I find the phenomenon to be at it's height shortly after the summer and Christmas holidays, I think that the garments being stationary for a longer period of time seems to act as a catalyst in the whole process. Certainly how it plays out in my place.

I also find that a common side effect of this shrinkage of waistbands is dirty shoes....bear with me....

I've noticed that when I find my clothing to have shrunk inexplicably it more often than not coincides with my usually well polished shoes not being kept to their own high standards....without my noticing. I struggle to explain that why, after my Christmas or summer holidays, I don't tend to notice that my shoes are not as clean as I would normally like. It's almost as if the distress over the random shrinking of my suits leaves me with a blind spot with regards to my shoe care.

If anyone can offer a scientific explanation to this secondary condition it would be appreciated as I find the whole situation most unsettling.
