What's happening lately? Is the package stuck somewhere or in transit? It's been a couple of years since I've seen it. It would be nice to have it again.

Just drop the low "E" string to "D." Play the chords as shown on the link above and add the bass line on the low string.

Okay, NC to LA. Should have been there by now. I'm sure several people are anxiously waiting. I really thought about forwarding this package through the Post Master General at whatever FPO, APO or Post Office was on Antarctica, just to have a little fun. Bag another continent, ya know. Maybe with the consent of the next person in line, that might not be a bad idea, huh?
Peace, you phreaks!

Well, I saw the Dutch Mason flyer, but the Neil Young ticket didn't travel very far. It certainly didn't make it here.
Anyway,.....I have a lucky contestant, as soon as I get a mailing address, this neat little package will be on it's way. This was fun!
Peace,

Edit: There are still 3, (actually 4) continents that haven't been reached yet. I'm sure there is a Post Office in Antarctica?

Re: Picks Around the World (412 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Whooohoooo!! I spent most of the weekend at the Shakori Hills Music Festival, near Pittsboro, NC! There was some really awesome music everywhere. My favorites were Sol Creech, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Mandolin Orange, Possum Jenkins, Big Ron Hunter, blah, blah, and about 15 jam sessions. I played at another festival yesterday and had a really great time.
But guess what was in the mail when I got home. Huh? Can you guess? A package all the way from Nova Scotia! The World Famous "PICKS AROUND THE WORLD" package. All kinds of interesting stuff inside. I spent several minutes examining every item. Reading every business card and flyer. There was a wedgie pick that has found a home with me and also some of the "safety-walk" paper.
I've added a few items and am ready to send them on their way to the next lucky player on, "PICKS AROUND THE WORLD!"
Peace, ya'all

Three year old thread, but still active two months ago.
I've made a few dulcimers and plan to build a lot more, but I'm not even decent at playing one yet. It's a lot of fun, tho' I'll get a lot better before spring time.

Re: Guitar Stuff NOT to buy your kid this Christmas (19 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Guitars from Wal~Mart in a cardboard box. I saw one the other day. A purple on white "Hannah Montana" acoustic. $70. A granddad type tossed it into the back of a pickup truck. (25 degrees outside.) I'd estimate $55 worth of Hannah Montana and at most $15 worth of cheap labor, shipping, handling, and parts. Go figure.
That being said...Yesterday I bought a "First Act" Volkswagen Edition. One of the guitars that was given away with the purchase of a volkswagen car. That was a unique marketing ploy, eh?
...back to the subject. It will be sad that a lot of kids will get these cheap quality guitars, become totally discouraged and never play again. My first guitar was a 3/4 Yamaha acoustic. Aside from socks and underwear, that's what I got for Christmas that year. Best gift I ever had! Not very expensive, good quality and playability. Thanks Mom. You ROCK!!!

Re: NOT ONLY PLECTRUMS (22 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I'm with guitaardocphil...I use dunlops 0.78 when I use a pick. BUT GUESS WHAT! I went to a nail salon a few weeks ago and had extensions added to my thunb, 1st and 2nd nail. Clumsy at first, but now I am totally playing and strumming with these three fingers. Mostly strumming with the index finger and finding the bass notes with my thumb. I'm doing some fingerpicking rolls that sound nice too.
..see the August 2006 edition of Acoustic Guiter if you have any questions www.acousticguitar.com
I'm ready to throw the picks away! Oh, wait! I may need to keep them around for when I play my electric. I've not had that much sucess there. It sounds really "plunky" there. And, oh geez when I play my bass, I get really bad "double picks." I really gotta work on that. Eh, we'll see.

Re: Pinky callous! Whoo Hoo for me (2 replies, posted in Acoustic)
My usual G chord looks like a GBDGDG with a transition to C (...actually a C9) that looks like GCEGDG. Great sound in certain songs. There's an easy D (5th) or I'll play a D9 F#ADADE that has a beautiful sound...it is a cool progression and adds lot of flavor to a tune.
As far a trying bar chordes....start with an "E" played with your last three fingers, EBEG#BE Get your thumb on the center of the neck, slide that up one half step, lay your index finger flat across the first fret and play. That would be an "F" ...full and beautiful!!With the "bar" behind it, you can do anything that you would normally do th the "E" chord. Minor, 7th, 9th, anything you want!! Once you have that, then you have it all.
The "A" chord, played with just the ring finger (EAEAC#X), and not picking the 1st string can be done the same way. When you play Minor chords and 7ths even 9ths the 1st string can be played with a full "bar, because it is a natural 5th.
...any help??

Re: What acoustic guitar is considered as the best? (21 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I played a Ventura last week....really the most surprising guitar I've picked up lately. It's made in China, probably by very small hands in a labor "Sweat" shop, but the dang thing had a great sound and volume.
I wouldn't trade my Ovation S771 for three of them, but I really was impressed. At about $300 I certainly would recommend them to any beginner. I'm gonna get one just to play on with my special tunings.

Re: Fret buzz? (4 replies, posted in Electric)
If it is normal "fret buzz," try going with a heavier guage string. That will "bow" the neck slightly more. Otherwise, keep your string weight and have your guitar set up by a professional to loosen the neck, or maybe file the frets. There are professionals that do this. Any good Luthier can help.

Topic: Guitar effects setup (3 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
<b></b><font color="green"></font><font face="Times"></font>Anyone know how the stage setup that has a Hammond Organ speaker cabinet with the vairable speed rotating speaker works? Guitars have a really awesome sound when I've seen them set up this way. Right now I'm playing an Aria TS-600, with too many built in bells and whistles to get the sound I want out of a Crate GX-65. I'm going tomorrow to plug into an Orange, to see what that does for me, but I am really interested in looking into the Hammond cabinet thing.
Thanks,
Peace,
