The printing issues that we worked so hard on last year appear to be back, I'm back to the printing being quite small on the page for each thing printed, making it very difficult to read.

So far I've tried a Vista box runnning IE 7, and a Mac running Safari.

Looking at an XP box with Firefox it seems correct, but there are other problems, for instance the song American Girls by Counting crows prints a page with only the title then next a page with the tab in a proportional font which has many spaces in it. Testing on Firefox again, I'm losing the top chords, the printout from IE works but it shrinks the font down a lot more than I'm happy with and I'm not sure what's going on. I'll e-mail you the firefox pdf

Okay, I have to do it for home, but it may be unecessary, in my latest test on IE7 it looks like it's working haven't tried firefox again.

Also it looks like the songs are printing alphabetically now! awesome!

I can't figure out how to post an attachment in the new software...

Any further progress on this bug? I'm wondering if it's time to try printing my song book again? I know you've been busy with the server/software changes so I didn't think you'd have gotten to it but I figured it was worth checking in.

thanks,

I understand you're busy, seems to be an epedemic, but I had seen replies to a lot of other posts so I was worried you were waiting on me!

The PDF file I posted is from FIREFOX so that suggestion isn't going to do anything, I'll try the margins.

Hi Admin,

I tried Sending you a PM but I don't think it went through for some reason. Is this enough info to reproduce the bug or do you need something else?

thanks!

just print the same song book again to a file and start flipping through it note the missing chord signs. I'm still working with the same song book as I believe I indicated in my post.

Attached is a pdf of the songbook as it prints for me, look at the song "Hey Julie" and "Somewhere over the rainbow" look at their second pages.

So the last round I printed a week ago and took on vacation with me I noticed that the top line of chords on the non-first page of the song (2nd-N) were missing, so the first line of lyric would be there but not the first line of chords, if that makes sense.

this was my song book printed from Firefox.

The song "little wing easy v1" prints in a proportional font, but only while in my song book, deleting it and re-adding does not change it.

I still can't post attachments... This occurs in both Firefox and IE7. Haven't tried opera. The song "Wonderful tonight" prints with an extra space between each line of the tabs, making it difficult to read.

I still can't seem to get a file to upload, maybe they're too large they're at 1.7mb right now. If you can't see it with the book that's already there, I'll see if I can get some time to create a new book with those songs and see what happens.

I'm sorry I don't quite follow. You were able to reproduce the string problem above with the artist name and song title?

For the bug with the wrong fonnt being used the URL I was using was my shared songbook which is posted above, it wasn't reproducing when I print the song individually so that URL wouldn't be useful I would think. But if it is let me know and I'll figure it out.

I keep getting a time out in the attempts to upload the file. I'll have to try again later.

I keep attempting to add a post and it's crashed on me twice now (actually the first time it looked like it succeeded but then it hadn't) now the server failed.

The song prints correctly by itself but now as part of my songbook it prints in a propotional font instead of fixed pitch rendering the tab useless.

Also songs with a title and an artist in the header are now printing with the string "}{ST:" between the two instead of a space.

I will add an office print out file if I can in the next post, in order to try to avoid losing this text for the third time.

Looks pretty good, now I'm just seeing some issues with individual songs, for instance the version of Little Wing called (Little Wing Easy) by Jimi Hendrix the last bit of tab at the end is all rammed together, ditto Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton (version that's in my book) I've done a revert to original on these and still see the same issues, I'll try re-creating.

Thank you so much for hammering these out! Awesome!

Cool, I'm excited to check it out, do I need to re-create my songbooks or were these other issues?

thanks!

Okay. I'm not sure if I've said this clearly so let me try another way.

The song Brian.Wilson prints with an error if I select it directly from the catalog, I have not gone back to my songbook yet. The way I'm getting there is by going clicking on the "B" at the top, navigating to Barenaked Ladies then picking the one song called "Brian.Wilson" there's only one that is "Brian.Wilson" with a dot as opposed to with a space.

the URL is this: <a href="http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/teman.com/guitarz/TABs/b/brianwilson.txt" target="_blank"> http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/teman … z/TABs/b/b rianwilson.txt</a>

this song errors in IE7 at the moment. I'm attaching a printed output from IE To the MS Office Document Printer driver which you should be able to load if you have office installed, if not I believe there's a viewer available. This way you can scroll around and see anything you might need without me having to guess on the screenshot. Hope that helps!

Also so was that you tried for Brian.Wilson a single song fix, or was it applied to other songs automatically (I don't know how the back end import system works) as I said almost all the tracks in my book were failing in the same way.

thanks!

Nope that URL you just gave me. And the one if I go to Barenaked Ladies in the directory and then select the song called "Brian.Wilson" it fails in the way I posted last night. That's what I was saying. It also fails in Opera in a totally different way which is that the chords fail to print

In Firefox Brian.Wilson works but other songs in my song book print with the chords over the top of the text, which at least is useable

In my song book try copying it and deleting all but the first 10 songs, I bet the bug stays. I didn't realise it took longer to debug, since it happens with almost everything I print I figured it was pretty generic.

FYI I just tried opera 9.1 (latest download on their site) and when I go to print preview on this book, none of the blue chord symbols appear in the print preview AT ALL!

Can you recommend a browser which you would expect to print, I would guess maybe ie6 but I thought I had tried that in the past with simlar results (I'm pretty sure I posted about it then)

thanks!

No worries, I don't see it as Lazy you've got a great site going here, I'm just hoping to help make it even better! I've tried a ton of work arounds to printing this stuff, including loading the page into Word (same problem as IE, probably same rendering code), saving the html for the print page and had editing it (didn't work so well) etc....I really posted here as sort of a last result, and to see if others were having a problem. I for one would like to say thank you for the site and all the work on it!

Would that chord pro problem have effected all the rest of the songs that were giving issues in my song book (since I think I said like the first five at least did it) and can I trip the reconvert by going into Edit mode and clicking the "Revert to orginal button" I ask since that might be easier than trying to re-add my songs.

Also did that same chord pro problem exhibit itself as the firefox bug?

Going directly to the Brian.Wilson song under Barenaked Ladies in the directory and printing it exhibits exactly the same issue as before in IE7. I'll try firefox later when I have more time

thank you!

So when using firefox 2.0.0.2 and printing my songbook I get as far as Brian Wilson and see this (attached file).

You also might want to take a look at this link re: using ie 6 and ie7 on the same machine: <a href="http://www.tech-recipes.com/internet_explorer_ie7_tips1188.html" target="_blank"> http://www.tech-recipes.com/internet_ex … tips1188.h tml</a>

Yes I still see the printing problem on the second page, I'm attaching a screen jpg for you to see the problem for yourself.

Are you not able to reproduce the bug yourself? This would surprise me since I can repro it on four or five separate machines at this point in time, and most of them are using different printers, but if you can't that may be a valuable piece of data.

So was this enough info? have you got the repro scenario now?

We're still talking about Internet Explorer 7, what I would do if I were you is print the whole book to the print preview on IE and you should see the first five songs that print are screwed up they are (Brown Eyed Girl, Heaven, Unchained Melody, Weight, and Brian.Wilson) in that order.

The odd thing is if I try and print the song singally it prints fine on the first page, and then the second page is screwed up (in this case I tried it with "Brian.Wilson")

Is that enough information?
