I don't know about Serbian girls, but I can attest that my Gusle skills have impressed many Wild and Crazy American Swinger Foxes (shakes hips while alternately pointing forefingers in haphazard progressions) big_smile big_smile big_smile

Roger - I saw this news story today and immediately thought of you. May be some solace in knowing you are not alone smile

Man blows up apartment spraying for bugs?

Mon Jul 21, 1:35 PM ET

A New Jersey man trying to exterminate insects in his apartment blew it up instead, the New York Daily News reported on Monday.

Isias Vidal Maceda was unhurt in the incident, but 80 percent of his apartment was destroyed, Eatontown, New Jersey police told the newspaper.

The accident occurred as Maceda was spraying for pests in his kitchen. Somehow the bug spray ignited a blast that blew out the apartment's front windows and triggered a fire that quickly spread, the newspaper said.

Police told the newspaper that the Saturday blaze also caused smoke damage to the apartment above.

Killed Old Time Country? How about the old time country player's died? That said, Johnny Cash's latest albums were some of his best sellers ever. Willie is still going strong - I saw him a couple of years ago, brought tears to my eyes seeing an American Icon. Music evolves, always has, always will - Garth & Shania  brought worldwide popularity to country music that had never been seen before. Nothing wrong with that at all. I'm not a country fan (the wife is), but I gotta agree with Tim -  Chesney, Urban, Toby - there's still plenty of trains, pickups, bars and mommas in country today.

Hi Gesader - I own a Washburn Rover travel guitar, purchased primarily because I am on the road with work weekly. It served it's purpose for a while, but in the end I just couldn't get used to the small size. The size requires that you use a strap even when sitting, something I didn't care for. Also, the size dictates a low volume, that's good for practicing in a hotel room, but maybe not so good around the campfire.

I've read rave reviews about the CA Cargo composite guitar. I own a full size 7i -  the sound is fantastic and you can't beat the durability factor.

Quite a bit more expensive than a typical "traveler", but may be worth it if you can afford it.

Headcase - That's what the forum is all about - helping each other out. Make sure you go to the bottom of the page on the link I gave you and watch the video. Justin's site is great - a ton of good lessons on there.

Hi Headcase - What specific problems are you having? If it is just slipping picks, there are all kinds of remedies for that, some have suggested sandpaper, drilling holes in the pick, they also sell some sort of sticky gunk for that problem. I have found that the Dunlop nylon picks which have a texture and raised lettering are the best for me to avoid slippage.

If your problem is more technique related, here's a link to a great exercise that should help:

Norman & Harrington tied at +7 thru 10.

I didn't really like Norman when he was in his prime. I saw him go off on his caddy once about cleaning his ball, that and it never seemed he had the competitive fire of the greats. I think he was content making millions with top 5 finishes.

That said, I am pulling for him big time today. What a story. Zinger just said, if he wins he should hang up the clubs and never play competitive golf again.

Russ - That lead is perfect! I really liked the first version and was skeptical about you adding to it, but man, that just sets it off! Excellent!

The right way to break it in is - Play it tonight 'till your fingers bleed! Tonight!

Hi bigrinwv - lowering the saddle is not at all a difficult task, but like southpaw says, if you are not comfortable tackling it, take it to a pro. Here's a link to some detailed info about lowering the saddle:

And if you get it too low, you can order shim kits from here:

Good Luck!

I can't wait for this vid! Mrs. Pix knows how to make HOT videos. tongue tongue tongue

I seem to be in a never ending search for the perfect strings. Just stung up the new CA with a set of Dean Markley Alchemy 12-54's and they sound great! I usually just save the package and write my impressions on the box, but I got an idea from another forum I read to create a spreadsheet to track dates changed, tone impressions, longevity, etc. Seemed like a great idea to me.

Here's a few links for those interested in the fight against the MPA who is the prime culprit in shutting down tab sites. I signed up and donated to MuSATO months ago and encourage all interested in keeping free tabs available on the web to do the same. Excerpt from beavertabs:

Recently there has been an intimidation campaign by the MPA (Music Publishers' Association) which has scared most guitar websites with tablature into either shutting down entirely or removing their tablature sections. The website owners have been accused of copyright infringment and have been threatened with legal action. It's a very sad situation for all of us - the online musician community. The MPA is working hard to deprive its customers of the effective, inspiring and sometimes indispensable resources they use to improve their guitar skills! There is no way to dispute the fact that free online tablature resources have fostered an explosion in the popularity of guitar-playing worldwide. Without those resources, there would absolutely be fewer guitarists which would mean a smaller market for the MPA-made products!

Bud - I have been a subscriber to your youtube page for a while and have been very impressed by your talent. If you can post there for the world to see, it should be simple to play in front of a few drunks at your local pub! What I'm saying is, you've got the skills my friend - go for it!

Hey Pix - The saddle and nut are.... would you believe composite? LOL. Really they are.

It sound great to my ears. A booming bass more than any acoustic I have ever played. That's the reason I held out for the new "i" series. I strum hard and I love the volume. Sustain is fantastic.

I'll try to post a private vid on youtube if I can get my stuff to work. Better idea - bring the wife and kids up for a weekend visit and you can play her yourself!

Very Cool Dennis - I listened to the clips from your link - the tuba is an awesome change of pace from the usual bass guitar. I really like the sound of this group! CD's are out of stock on cdbaby and amazon - how do I get one?

Glad to hear you are enjoying yourself and welcome to Chordie!

Old Doll - I am glad to see your response to this post. The absence thereof had me a wee bit worried that you found my post offensive. Glad to see you took it in the sense of gaiety that was intended! I am also glad that I viewed your post prior to the prudish Mr. McCormick giving it the old ZAP big_smile (although I understand his reasoning).

Your friends seem to exhibit the fun, life loving spirit that are always present in your posts. I met a gal long ago that was "encouraged" to flash herself at a trucker while driving down the highway in my mustang convertible -and promptly did so while standing on the front seat on a chilly night the end of September (the 29th specifically). This was on the 1st night I had ever met her.

That fun lovin' lady is now my wife!!
