Thanks Toney - I am real pleased with this purchase. The CA would be great for your venues, unfortunately they are not making a lefty yet! I suppose you could reverse a dread if you were so inclined.

Wayne - I played some of the older models at a shop in Boone, NC a few months back, but had not played a 7i series before purchasing. I had read reviews of the cargo and other i series (i stands for integrated bracing) and read that these models had a better bass response (and boy, do they!)

I bought mine from Danny at Acoustic Pro Musicians. He is their largest dealer and seems to have the best availability. He was a pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend him. Link to his inventory page with actual pricing (page down for the CA's):

And here's a link to a video review from Acoustic Guitar Magazine. The review is the 5i, which is identical to mine except for the finish.

Wayne, I checked the dealer list on CA's website and there really isn't anything near you. Most internet dealers have a return policy that allow you to try out a guitar and return it for full refund if not happy (but usually you have to pay return shipping). Danny's policy is a 48 hour trial.

I picked up a black 7i a couple of months ago. My main reason for purchasing was the durability because I travel for work weekly. That said, this is among the best sounding guitars I have ever played.

Hi jj3 and welcome to Chordie!

I am a little confused by your question. If you use the chordie print preview function (on the right side of the page), usually the default is to print the chord chart on the right. Alternatively, you can choose to print the chord chart on the bottom, or not print them at all. If they are not printing, it may have something to do with your print settings. Not sure of your issue, but I have hundreds of songs printed, all with chord charts.

If this is not working properly for you, please post a link of the specific song(s) and I bet one of the computer guru's here can figure it out!

Hi Van_Hobble and welcome to Chordie!

I suggest you search the forum by using the search feature at the top of the page. This is a FAQ and most beginners struggle with it (I know I did!). The bottom line for me is - don't get hung up on patterns, listen to the music until you "feel" the rhythm - one day soon it'll "click" and you will be right there!

Doc,

I visited the HOF several years ago. It is on Lake Erie in Cleveland in what is really a very nice tourist area. Right next door is the Great Lakes Science Center (that my kids really enjoyed). Here's a few links to help with your questions.:

Old Doll - Much respect for Padraig in my book. Seems like a class guy and a great champion. I was certainly pulling for him over Sergio.

That looks like a real mess Doll. Be careful on those roads - a flood can carry a car away easier than you think!

And all those crazy drivers! They are all driving on the wrong side of the road! big_smile

Long may you enjoy this guitar.

Old Doll.

That's a great thought Old Doll. Pass it along as a gift to another worthy recipient when the time comes. The mojo in that git will be sure to bring great things!

I get to ZAP a scumbag spammer every once in a while - that plus the free massages, pickles and booze are about the only benefits. (If anybody wants to sub-lease my luxury apartments, contact Zurf -  he is the leasing agent. I am not giving up my Town Car and driver) smile

Really, the reason I volunteered was to help eliminate the porn scum spammers that were once regularly bombarding the site with graphic images. I spend a lot of time on-line and offered my assistance in helping to make Chordie a more kid-friendly site!

(In addition to Single Malt, I also enjoy a nice bottle of red wine if you are thinking of me next Christmas) big_smile

FWIW, Ben Franklin thought the Turkey to be a better symbol for the US than the Eagle:

In a letter to his daughter, Benjamin Franklin wrote:

For my own part I wish the Eagle had not been chosen the representative of our country. He is a bird of bad moral character. He does not get his Living honestly. You may have seen him perched on some dead tree near the river, where, too lazy to fish for himself, he watches the labor of the Fishing Hawk; and when that diligent Bird has at length taken a fish, and is bearing it to his nest for the support of his mate and young ones, the Eagle pursues him and takes it from him.
With all this injustice, he is never in good case but like those among men who live by sharping & robbing he is generally poor and often very lousy. Besides he is a rank coward: The little King Bird not bigger than a Sparrow attacks him boldly and drives him out of the district. He is therefore by no means a proper emblem for the brave and honest Cincinnati of America who have driven all the King birds from our country...
"I am on this account not displeased that the figure is not known as a Eagle, but looks more like a Turkey. For the truth the Turkey is in comparison a much more respectable bird, and withal a true original native of America . . . He is besides, though a little vain & silly, a bird of courage, and would not hesitate to attack a grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his farm yard with a red coat on.

I've got to disagree with my friend SouthPaw here. While I also detest video games and the wasted hours spent on them (and I am the father of a 16 yo vidiot), I believe that guitar hero in particular has increased CD sales and has likely increased interest in kids wanting to play a real guitar (like my son does).

An excerpt from a USA Today article:

A look at Nielsen SoundScan data for a dozen Guitar Hero II songs found that 11 out of 12 had increased sales in 2007, including:

• Cheap Trick's Surrender nearly tripled from 58,000 digital sales in 2006 to 161,000 in 2007.

• Kiss' Strutter went from 11,000 to 63,000 sold.

• The Pretenders' Tattooed Love Boys rose from 5,000 to 16,000.

• Only Danzig's Mother showed a drop, from 28,000 to 16,000.

"A lot of it is the classic guitar-type rock stuff form the Skynyrds to the new big monster bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Wolfmother," says Mike Davis of Universal Music (Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who). "Old and new with the classic rock sound seems to be the stuff that is doing super well. … It's a pretty hot subject these days."

And look at these stats of actual guitar sales:

2006         2,991,260    -9.6%    $1,151,290,000     -4.1%    $372
2005     3,302,670     0.2%     $1,158,592,050     13.3%      $350
2004     3,302,670     41.0%     $1,022,861,000     13.3%      $309
2003     2,341,551     20.5%     $903,261,000     -1.9%     $386
2002     1,942,625    11.4%    $921,057,000      -.13%     $529
2001     1,742,498     5.6%     $922,280,000      -0.1%    $529

A pretty impressive increase in '04 and '05 when guitar hero first came out. It's just numbers, with millions being introduced to music by guitar hero, even if only a small percentage pick up a real guitar, it leads to an increase.

More importantly for me, my son started to appreciate "good" music from these games (or maybe it just became cool to like Dad's music), before that he was really getting into the hip hop rap crap that I couldn't stand!!

You can try to connect through a proxy server - just do a search for proxy server. When on the proxy site, enter the link I posted. Proxy servers basically hide your IP and may allow you to view the videos.

Tom - why don't you try downloading FireFox and giving it a shot? It's a free, easy download, faster and safer than IE. Plus there are great add-ons available (also free) like ad block plus that work great. I use FF and have never had a problem with printing chord grids.

Gracious volunteers (Editors) have spent their time attempting to make the page more useful. If you like the old way better, simply click on "all versions" located at the top of the page and all of the songs are there like they were before!

The Who (Daltrey and Townsend anyway) did Baba, Who Are You, My Generation and Behind Blue Eyes. The whole show is on the link I posted. Pearl Jam and Townsend / Daltrey were the highlights. In my opinion, the others couldn't pull it off.

This concert / show was on last weekend and I just caught a replay. I was most impressed by Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder's vocals. The Who are one of my favorite all time rock bands with extreme talent throughout. That said, the power of Daltrey's vocals stand out and have not been found in many bands since. I thought Vedder captured that power magnificantly.
