My experience is: take a guitar, sit on an amp, just like you sit on a horse, DO NOT CHANGE THE KNOBS OF THE AMP, try a bunch of guitars, and you will feel the sound through your body, and the one who gives you the best results AUDITIVE and SENSITIVE, that should be the one, also, how iso the guitar in your hands, and is the way to play easy

It is not really that I know NOTHING about pentatonic. I used them before I knew, like the same pattern as beautifully described by Detman, you can use it on every fret from the first to....
But are there also other scales AND WHY IS THIS SO IMPORTANT IN BLUES, meaning like is it used to play solos, and how, why..
Thanks already, you are a great help

I would suggest 2 kinds of T-SHIRTS
- with short sleeves
- without sleeves.

On the front a guitar, on the back some music notes, or on the front the guitar and on the back a guitar, with of course CHORDIE, or/and I"m PROUD TO BE A CHORDIAN.
Colours, black, and white.
But I'm proud to be a chordian sounds nice, you cabn even add, in smaller letters the name of the website.
Distribution: I think you need an EUROPEAN point besides the USA point.
If you have them, I'll buy of course (I prefer without sleeves)
Why a point here in Europe, easier to pay through the bank, is complicated when talking about wire transfers to the US.
Reasonable price, more or less cheap, but of course, I would like, and I made already a suggestion, to come together once.
If you find a sponsor, like Gibson, Fender or Music Stores: SAY YES.

jesus, Boot I knew you knew.
I am putting $$$ aside to go again travelling: travellin'band.
I did know the Bernie Rico Jr story.
Maybe my question was not accurate enough, because I forgot to ask, knowing they construct "weird" and unbelievable models, the strangest forms.
They are talking about a "dime bag" model. I only knew that he existed, because I have some songs by Pantera. But I know more about Darrell because of a guitar is made and named after him.. What happened with the guy, a certain Nathan Gale who killed him and 3 others?
But this is really the kind of music, I "can" appreciate, but the way those groups, especially their singers, they have all the same voice, deep from the grave.
Also the songs they play are very deep and low: DO THEY USE A LOWER TUNING?

CONCERNING PLAYING BLUES:
I am like a virgin in the blues, I can play blues, they are often played in "minor", because of the melancholic effect.
But: concerning scales I have to admit my knowledge is ZERO, yes I can play a pentatonic, but I really understand nothing about, again, the scales.
I have books and VCR tapes, who are really from the time when animals did speak.
Are there chordian friends who can help?? professional or fanatic blues playing "chordians"

st800: I got the cd-rom "BAND IN A BOX", but a 2005 version. It is a software with many possibilities, but I think I needed the 2007 version.
I will try again with BiB
Thanks a lot

Well Detman and also our friend ssttsstt, all those stories are a FAR FROM MY BED show, until it happens to you.
Some partners (I prefer to use this word) are like that, it is their character, and even worse, the more you tell the truth, like a concert that ended 30 minutes to late, the more they don't believe you. I dare to call me a kind of expert, because it used to be my job as medical doctor (now non-active due to severe medical reasons), and in my job, I was known more as a kind of "shrink", because on 100 cases, I traeted 95, and maybe 5 went to a psychiatric doc.
What I want to tell is that I've been on both sides of similar problems. The subject of this topic is very delicate, especially being a kind of therapist myself, and I refuse to make conclusions, if I don't know the situation. I can just write about mine. I hate it to tell, but because of my position, and a kind of Rock&Roll attitude I was very popular for a lot of women. This can be already a cause. Who doesn't like female attention?? But forget this, and see what your partner likes or wants. Probably attention, communication, and some partners use high standards, often influenced by their friends, relatives, and a common thing is jealousy.
Detman, why is she jealous of you, playing guitar: do you play at home? I know that a lot of people want to be CENTRAL in a relation. If you play at home, and you stay playing at home, she's maybe jealous just because you pay more attention on your guitar, or she is convinced that your guitar is numero uno, and she feels herself pushed away in the second position.
Always start with one important fact: YOU CAN NOT CHANGE ANOTHER PERSON, YOU CAN ONLY CHANGE YOURSELF. I really want to talk about it with you, and I WILL ALWAYS TRY TO BE NEUTRAL, I do hope to receive an email, and I will try to help you as good as I can (knowing my profession!!). Upyerkilt is right, and at least try to convince her that she will always be the NUMBER ONE, but she has no right to take your guitar away. In the pre-PC world, and still now, how many man are member of the board of a baseball, or football team, or are responsable for church, school? I have done a lot things wrong, being too busy with my work and neglecting my family. The more you run away using your job as the perfect alibi, the worse it gets, and on a certain moment there will be a COMMUNICATION breakdown. Try to communicate as much as you can, and not discussing as much as you can. I don't know how long you are together, try to change your attitude or try at least to show her that she comes in the first place. I am even convinced that it is not the guitar who causes this problem, so try and try and try.
And ssttsstt: are you sure about this? If there is one thing I hate, well people who tell you if seen your wife.... I have a beautiful daughter who has a super boyfriend. If I should see that guy with some other girl, I don't think I would tell it, because someone ruined a relation I had because of similar problem. It looks cruel, but I think I never told someone to stop a relation, or other things. You can see my email, and you are welcome to mail me.
I hope I could help, even if it's only for 5%

Finally, thanks to a lot of you fellow chordians, I have bought the BOSS BR 600.
The music store man, responsible for the "electronic and recording" products told me that you can change with the "sliding" parts, like an equaliser, you are able to change already pieces, like a false note, (trying) to play a little solo: you make the good solo longer, and the bad so short that you don't hear it anymore.
But, again I need your help.

Is there someone who records also his songs, but also using software, where you can see the sound waves, and using the copy and paste function?
I know some of that software: like the once almost not to pay, cubase, or pro tools. BUT I DON'T KNOW AT ALL the other software that I can use.
Please help me with this problem, seeing all the members, there must be at least a few who record their songs, and like the producer, or soundengineer does: remove some of the false pieces, or correct the false pieces.
I WOULD BE REALLY HAPPY.

Well dear friend RoxusMaximus, where do you live now?
You are welcome at my place, in the mean time I just purchased a hopefully, splendid device, to TRY if I am able to hear my songs: BOSS BR 600.
Concerning the CYBERTWIN, well I am glad you have one too. I am sure it has to be possible, but I am afraid you will need an adaptor.
I'll try to figure it out.
I send you a mail in a few moments.

More and more you find guitars like BC RICH profiled as "THE HEAVY METAL" guitar.
I know these brands, but I am not familiar with those guitars. See also the IBANEZ line, like SATRIANI has.
Is this a 100% heavy metal guitar, what pickups do they use, and can you play nice sounding ballads or blues? or are the pickups made in that way that you will only have a screaming sound ?

As far as I understand, you own a telecaster. But concerning the pickups I have the impression that you want to add an extra pickup, between the two pickups a tele has?
This means that they, a luthier or the music store co-workers, have to make an extra hole in the guitar body to put an extra pickup, am I right? I am not a luthier, so you will get probably 2 answers: YES or NO.
It's worth asking. BOOTLEGER here, knows a lot about suvh things.
I think that it is possible, but the price you will pay for this transformation, can be high.

I have a GIBSON SG MENACE, really a heavy metal guitar, and yes, I am always confronted with the fact that this is a "naked guitar".
The GIBSON SG STANDARD
Neck Pickups:      490R Alnico magnet humbucker
Bridge Pickups: 498T Alnico magnet humbucker

The GIBSON SG MENACE HAS:
Neck Pickups:   490R Smoky Coils w/brass stud
Bridge Pickups: 498T Smoky Coils w/brass stud

The GIBSON REISSUE 61:
Neck Pickups:      '57 Classic humbuckers
Bridge Pickups:    '57 Classic humbuckers

The GIBSON SG SPECIAL FADED:
Neck Pickups:      490R Alnico magnet humbucker
Bridge Pickups:    490T Alnico magnet humbucker
I have a special thank to my friend BOOTLEGER, who lreaned me a lot about thes guitars.
They look very similar, but comparing a regular 498 alnico humbucker with a 498 hot alnico, you will have a specially wound coil combination, to get the 498T "Hot Alnico." With its higher output and emphasis on mid-ranges and highs, the 498T is the perfect rock pickup.
I hope I could help with this answer. So Gibson sells SG models, "stripped", no special, and more expensive extras, you can buy a real SG for a still expensive, but reasonable price. There is also no lacqier used, I had the opportunity to watch that process used in the Gibson plant in Memphis Tennessee where the hollowbodies are produced. You buy a ticket there (10$), and once they have 5-10 people, they show you the fabrication process. Hollow bodies or heavy Les Pauls, the way they treat them is the same. The lacquer process takes time, (compare it with a car), and is "crucial" in the production, and I think that the $$$ price is determined by that process.

When travelling in the USA, following route 66, I went East in stead of following the mother of all roads.
So, after a short visit in Nashville, seeing incredible "gigs", especially at noon, like a couple playing songs on demand, he was 82 years old and she 83 years old, but Jesus what a harmony, what a performance, they both played acoustic.
In the evening, the lone players we saw at noon were gone, there were groups playing and performing songs, in such a way, that if I was a hot shot in the record industry, I would sign them immediately.
Thinks like that, make me thinking: when do they sign you, what is their motive, MONEY of COURSE, but forget the money here. I saw bands playing from Chicago, over Memphis, Nashville, New Orleans, and most of them play a lot better than big names.
Being in MEMPHIS, after the must-do visit in Graceland, I also went to the famous Beale Street, BUT one of the Highlights was the visit of the GIBSON factory, where the hollowbodies are produced, a must see for every guitar lover. One thing spoiled a lot when visiting this factory, the knowledge that on 10 produced guitars, they "destroyed" 3 on the 10 guitars, in stead of giving them another name: who can tell me more about this?
Second highlight: the SUN studios. They let small groups, not more than 10 people, in the studio, and being a music and guitar freak, they gave demonstrations, like the ELVIS song about the hounddog, seemed to be a 100% copy about a "... cat". They also told that the biggest concurrent was JERRY LEE LEWIS, his songs, his performance, should reach more than Elvis, wasn't it that his career was destroyed by his "love life" with very young girls, like when he married that 13 year old girl who was even family. The started to boycott him, and his star disappeared more and more.
So, what I mend was that people at the sun studio told me that if it wasn't because of his turbulent life, he might have been bigger than Elvis

daddycool, now I understand about who the song "I am the great pretender" goes. Roy Orbison has written and performed "evergreens", but I was told that he didn't have the looks, being more fat, than people like Jerry Lee Lewis and Presley.

Try to play guitar, not touching your strings, while another guitarist is playing behind the scene.

Well, now that I know nationalities, kije BOXER is from Wales and KILT is from scotland as is alvee, the logical question is: can all of you still speak the original language?
Upyer: is the difference between the Scottish and the Irish very clear? Meaning that if you speak, (isn't it Celtic), or read your ORIGINAL language, you can also read and understand Irish?

I think a lot of countries, today, in the America's, developed their own language. There is a difference in writing and pronouncing words, like flavor/flavour, you will find the same development in the Spanish language spoken in South America versus original Spanish.
1 thing, not knowing if I'm right or wrong, the US accent ressembles to the Irish/English.
I live in Belgium, the "netherland's" speaking part, and it is amazing how fast the changes between Dutch (Flemish) and Dutch (Holland) are. I speak about only 30 years. South African "dutch", I can read and speak it, is influenced by African, English words. Probably the same thing caused the US American-English.

I discovered this by accident, being very busy with Pink Floyd. I am sure it was not their intention, and how old were they, not even born at that time, more it's even not an intro or that kind of solo you would remember at the spot, it lasts for only 10 seconds.
There we go again, discussing about strings and chords, there are only 7 main chords, and the minor and the 7th chords.
I even know more than 1 group, having big hits, using only 3-4 chords.
THE BIG MASTER HERE IS ROBERT ZIMMERMAN, beautiful songs and only 3-4 chords.

Your topic is so tricky. One of the most important things giving a gig like Clapton will give, are the stack of amps and speakers, who are able to blow the audience away, and the squier, in this case disguised as a black fender, can and will be more dominated by the wall of sound, add the gig-adrenaline, and it can be possible that it will give him, being a real skilled and experienced performer, that there is something wrong, but I think on a certain moment, he will notice that there is something different, BUT will the audience do?

DID you hear the solo by GILMOUR followed by the COLDPLAY solo?
It is a very short solo, but it is in my ears sounding 100% similar.
Amazing what you can find if you start listejning very carefully. It always starts with a question like, where did I hear that little solo?
I am convinced that even PF are not aware about this. Maybe we can contact them, hoping that it becomes a juridical case, and ask them about 25% because we helped them?

Ah dear boot, I was convinced you've been disappeared to Alaska.
That "preconstructed" bodies and "necks" , what is the type of body-wood you use, same for the neck.
I wrote about that guy in Scotland, but to make your own guitar out of a stash of wood, will take longer than a week. You have a guitar body, a PRS like, what is your way of treating the body?
To put a layer around: nitrocellulose? and it will take 2 days before it is dry?.
Repairs do they include changing humbuckers?
If I want: is it possible to follow a kind of "course" to learn, or you do this behind close doors?

Music video clips DO NOT ruin the music.
On the other hand you are 100% right and because of the following reason(s).
To have a more or less decent video, you need actors or the band members, and this is all very expensive.
I don't know exactly how to answer, but 1 example: WHO REMEMBERS STILL TODAY THE CLIP WITH GUNS & ROSES, for the song NOVEMBER RAIN??.
I don't know a single person, who didn't see the clip. The Wedding Dress visible in that clip, caught our attention and so pushing away the music, because back then in 1992 or 1993, all the women I know, did see the WEDDING DRESS, more than they listened to the song, which they could even sing without realising it.
Movie makers, smooth publicity guys, use a lot that technic, mostly maybe 1 second, and studies made about this phenomenon proofed that "not conscience, but our subconscience is under influence.
About this topic, I can write a book. The music, in those clips influences your mind. They will not spent 1$ resulting in the fact that you will not buy this album.
As a beginning artist, it all starts with the look, the attitude and the work they put in you, which isn't cheap. The clips are ment to attract people to buy, and not to push them away. Record companies do .great efforts to promote their artists, representatives going with that music from radiostation to radiostation.
I hope I could help.
