Very good work, Mazzy ... in all respects. Your lyrics and the way you sing them have a lot of emotion under them.

Don't know for sure, BGD ...
My uninformed assumption would be that if you replaced your broken tubes with a matched set of the same kind, you shouldn't need to re-bias. I'd never really thought of that before, so am glad you raised the question. It would be good to know for sure. Sorry to hear about the accident ... tubes are more fragile than eggs.
Hey Beamer ...
I hope you and Jerome have a great time jamming together. It's always fun to meet other musicians and trade ideas. Which "Working Man" did you learn? Was it this one?

Or ... perhaps it was RUSH's song of the same name.
Just wondering ...
Welcome to Chordie, Surya!
We sincerely hope you'll be a regular participant in the Discussion Forums. I think I can speak for all Chordie members, that we've become better musicians because of this wonderful information exchange.
Again, I'm flattered that anyone would consider this worth putting music to. A couple of you sent me links to your work via email, and I'm extremely pleased.
Many, many thanks!
That's a real beauty, Graham ... what a find. Looks to be in fantastic condition.
Mostly Autumn "Wild Eyed Skies"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lRsZRfEEOw
Here's a beautiful track from Mostly Autumn's two-disc CD "The Ghost Moon Orchestra" (2012). The original album track had Troy Donockley playing the opening on the Uilleann Pipes, but in his absence guitarist Bryan Josh does an abbreviated bit on guitar, with some cool effects on his Strat. Josh's style reminds me a lot of David Gilmour. Vocalists Olivia Sparnenn and Anne-Marie Helder really shine. I'm not sure where this tour footage was shot.
Amazing talent here ... very well done, Bill. You put a lot of work into putting this together for us all, and we're happily in your debt.
Happy New Year to you and Dondra, and to everyone else in the Chordie universe.
I'd be honoured / flattered if any of you want to put music to this. Your idea of a Dylan-esque flavor is spot on, KIR, and please feel free to edit anything needed to make it fit.
BE IT RESOLVED
Be it resolved …
That in this coming year
I'll embrace those I hold dear
With acts of love, not just words
So say we all?
Be it resolved …
That in this coming year
I'll replace my self-centered greed
With careful acts for others needs
So say we all?
Be it resolved …
That in this coming year
I'll keep my loving wife so very near
To keep her safe, content, secure
So say we all?
Be it resolved …
That in this coming year
My neighbor will not go without
Because I failed to heed their shout
So say we all?
Be it resolved …
That in this coming year
I'll become the kind of person
That anyone would want to be
So say we all?
A belated Happy Birthday, MKM! I hope MKD and the K's made it a great one for you.
Wow! Some great work there with the Looper and the Trio. Nicely done, Graham!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... breathing the fresh air!
Thanks for this post, Bill. I've been enjoying Arkady's music for some time now, and it certainly reminds me of the early days of Tangerine Dream. If his music is any revelation of his soul, then it's a beautiful one, for sure.
Karnataka "Tide to Fall" Bury, England, 2012
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpNdYdojljw
If anyone has seen the production "Riverdance", or Michael Flatley's "Feet of Flames", you'll instantly recognize the lovely Hayley Griffiths at lead vocals. Formed in 1997, the only original member is bassist Ian Jones. This performance is from their 2012 DVD "New Light". The entire DVD is well-shot, and the group is tight and energetic throughout.
Does it have to be brand new?? Could you find a better used one for the same money??
Good suggestion, JJJ ... I'd love to find a used Gretsch for under $1,000!
We are a sparsely-populated rural area, and there aren't the pawn shops and flea markets here that you have. We only have one city in the entire Province of Nova Scotia, and it's half the size of Boston, with only a couple of quite scummy pawn shops. So instead, I check the online market called KIJIJI once in awhile, but most of what goes on there for sale isn't worth much.
It's finally happened, we've got a snowstorm in the forecast. Between Sunday night and Tuesday morning, they're predicting 25 cms (about 1 foot). It's been very mild throughout December (+12 C today, or +54 F) so that we've gotten spoiled.
The good news is, that Trout Season starts in 3 months!!!
Amazing ... I've never seen anyone playing piano (and extremely well, like this) while holding a cigarette between their fingers. Those are some lo-n-n-g fingers ... reminds of Jimi Hendrix's hands.
How about a sombrero? All kidding aside, I hope you're on the mend.
A very Merry Christmas to everyone in the Chordie universe!
Roger's card gets "Card of the Year" award in my books. Thanks for including my Les Paul in Santa's stable. I thought it seemed a bit out of breath when I picked it up this morning ... now I know why.
No apologies needed, UJB ... none at all. You made some very important points in a very respectful way, and for that I'm grateful. Differing viewpoints make life interesting, or how else would any of us learn anything? Besides ... you're a Jethro Tull fan!
Merry Christmas to you, Uncle Joe!
Good points, both UJB and TIG.
The motivation for the poem was the kooky way the newscast was aligned ... same planet, but different worlds.
Very good song, DaddyCool ... a good message with a healthy dose of cynicism (which I love). It reminded me of this pic:
I was doing some digging around, to find out how much $$$ has been spent on the various space programs. The numbers (roughly converted to modern dollar values) are mind-boggling:
$700,000,000 --- New Horizons (Pluto) project
$196,000,000,000 --- space shuttle program
$50,000,000,000 --- international space station
$136,000,000,000 --- Apollo program
$7,300,000,000 --- Gemini program
$1,740,000,000 --- Mercury program
$865,000,000 --- Voyager program
It is argued that lots of jobs were created throughout this time, and many technological advances came about because of them. But I have to think that if these $$$ were left in tax-payers hands (here on Earth) they could have and would have done a lot more good for a lot more people. It's a matter of priorities, and this seems kinda screwed up with so much child poverty around, homelessness, etc.
Just saying ...
It's not overboard at all, Beamer ... not one bit.
Once you've hypnotized your audience fast asleep with the full and detailed explanation of your band's name, you can then resurrect them with a monstrous power chord, followed by a searing arpeggio. You could even have a PowerPoint presentation, with schematics and the whole schmozzle. Think of all the instant admirers you'll have!
Sorry, my friend ... the imagination gets carried away at times.
Sounds like your daughter has inherited her Dad's discerning taste for nice guitars ... good choices.
