For me the best songs are
- songs you know (at least the melody)
- easy songs: you will find MORE than enough if you just check BOB DYLAN: "THE" master of creating songs with 3-4 chords.
Another quit easy is John Denver.
It's like RAM57 sais: you NEED AT LEAST to know the melody. I can write a song now and here, using  E  D  G, but what will YOU do, not knowing the melody?

I am desperatly seeking the song/chords of this "fantastic song" by the moody blues.
I found one, but I think it is not a good one.
There is also a question that I wanted to ask since years:
- On every greatest hits collection, I even have the time traveller collection, which is great by the way, you will NEVER find the song: BOULEVARD DE LA MADELEINE, one of their first songs.

Second question: is there a program showing us the chords when putting a CD in my PC?

He friend patrickjacques, I don't know exactly if you HAVE TO SLIDE, but sliding, with bottleneck.
But do me a favour, go and see, and this is for EVERY GUITAR PLAYER, to wikipedia, where I found this, and you won't believe it till you read it, they talk about a similar instrument 5000 years ago.
So:
Its true origins are somewhat uncertain but there is a general agreement that it ... The type of resonator guitar with a neck with a square cross-section ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar

About the resonator guitar: The purpose of the resonator is to amplify the sound of the guitar; this purpose has been largely superseded by electrical amplification, but the resonator is still played by those desiring its distinctive sound.
So you can play it like you play a normal guitar, but also and this happens more and more because of the "special metallic" sound: slide+bottleneck.

Thanks for answering me. I didn't know exactly what the Yamaha question was. I have 1n my first, and it was, if you go back in time, 30 years ago, already expensive. At that time I was even more interested in electric guitars like Gibson and Fender. It was also quit easy: you had a Stratocaster, and cheaper, a telecaster. You had a Gibson LP standard and a Custom.
I wanted to ask a question, I am a Christian too, a catholic, but I think I am missing something. Since 2-3 years it is like a "fashion", a big boom of people proud to be Christian. Here in Europe, it is a lot more "wind". They are destroying the Catholic churches. They are (I don't blame them) hunting down priests, even Bishops. And I am sitting here with so many questions: why do I still live, and still walk, after having a huge car crash in September 2000 driving 60 miles an hour, ending with that speed against a tree: exploded vertebra (5 pieces, one in my spinal chord) 32 fractures in my left foot. I still have my foot (90% of the doctors would have cut off my foot), and with a piece in or pushing against my spinal chord, I was doomed to stay for the rest of my life in a wheelchair. But non of these happened. I even had twice a cardiac arrest, but there I was again. They know me there as the miracle doc. Also worship a statue of GOD is not my thing. God can be found in every little tiny thing, under a rock, and worse all those wars, for who: ALLAH and ALLAH = GOD.

A short story, I think it is also on youtube: a group (a French group I think), has a huge succes, because of a very special videoclip. They changed every instrument by a woman, REMEMBER MY QUESTION ABOUT PLAYING GUITAR: A CERTAIN RESSEMBLENCE, WITH WOMEN?).
So, the guitar players and bas use a woman instead. They have already 100.000s of hits.
I read it in a magazine, but I didn't see it, and I am not 100% sure about finding it at youtube or myspace

- Who owns a Santa Cruz, and/or who can tell me more about this famous brand that is more profiled as a "fingerpicking" guitar.
- The same thing about Collings: is this guitar a lot different from the famous acoustic brands like TAYLOR, MARTIN, concerning sound. Is the wood or structure different, like bracings?

Hey Bobbystring, the string is that about your underwear? I am just telling this, because on a hot day some weeks ago, we died almost all laughing with a big fat "German" (no offence for fellow German chordians), who walked on the beach, just wearing a string. It's a shame that I was too late to grab my camera, this is an image I will never forget.
But to come back about the funny subject STORIES, the word tells us enough. I amuse myself more looking up funny and strange facts.
THIS IS ALSO AN ITEM MAKING CHORDIE SO NICE: THERE ARE ALREADY ENOUGH SERIOUS SUBJECTS? SO THE VARIETY IS GREAT, and we start more and more to know each other THANKS TO CHORDIE. I am surfing on the net, especially since the day I had to stop working, but I never found 1 (ONE) site like this. Sometimes you will see a "chat"site, but if you see the number of members, and the delay between 2 subjects, I say thanks and goodbye.

Well, well mhebert has Irish roots. I love Montreal, Quebec and all the St. places around Montreal. My sisters lived there 25 years ago, to learn and to dance as ballerina. This was my first big holiday trip: far (and yet so close) probably because Montreal is together with Quebec the most European city in North America.
But about language: do you speak French? I know, that in Montreal they have a "language"police.
In the old part, at the river, where all those beautiful shops are, they enter your shop anonymous and they are very difficult if you, being owner, start to speak English!!! It's even worse as here in Belgium. We had elections on Juin the 10th, and still no government, because of 1 woman, named MILQUET, refuses to agree with the program (but I am also convinced that the guy who is responsible now to form a government want so badly being the prime minister)

hello zurf, very strange, me everyday on chordie to discover now that you have a yamaha 300.
To be more specific, it is probably the yamaha FG300.
This was my first guitar: bought it in 1977, so already 30 years old. Back than, that guitar was not that cheap, it was more in the midrange price, I think between 400-500$, BACK THAN IN 1977!!!
I still have that guitar, found it back somewhere in my mothers house.
Playing: didn't touch this guitar since probably 20 years, I have to replace the tuning mechanism, because they are moving, and the guitar has only 4 strings left. Probably I will repair her soon.
I remember me that this guitar wasn't bad at all. I am a big collector, and only the acoustic oart of my collection has Martins, from the D-1 (the only electro-acoustic I have), D-1 12 strings, D-15; D-16, HD-28, D-45 and about 6 Gibsons like Dove, Hummingbird and my all time favourite, an UNBEATABLE sound, some people say too much bass sounds, well I don't, a Gibson SJ-200, but a MONTANA GOLD.
So Zurf, I don't know where you live, I live in Europe, and the cheap $, compared to the strong €, gave me the occasion to buy real pearls.
Concerning prices, and advising you, is getting more and more difficult because of the prices going up almost every month.
One of my favourite guitars is the Martin D-15, mahagony brown (completely brown) and a very sweet even sensitive sound. The HD-28, blows you away without using an amp.
A very good site to compare prices and read opinions what other people say is
www.epinions.com and another (for me the best) is www.musiciansfriend.com. On that last site you can choose between hundreds of guitars with prices. The real thing is, having an idea about how much you want to spend, going to a musicstore and compare the guitars in YOUR pricerange. I've been to a store last Saturday to buy a BOSS BR 600, to record songs, and I've played some acoustics. Ovation has very good sounding low budget guitars, they go from 400$ up to 3000$, but if you play electro-acoustic, this should be the one: loud enough to play acoustic. Also check Takamine.
See you

merci beaucoup, c'est moi qui a malcompris.
FRET   and   LET's slide: put there a musician must be a chordian, and your timeline.
I will try to draw a timeline, and I use a letter, or a word, which must be replaced after by instruments.
Before continuing this, I looked and I will write dawn what the most poular instrument was, and where in the timeline.
Glossary of Medieval, Renaissance & Baroque Musical Instruments on www.rbsp.org
I CAN TELL YOU NOW it won't be easy. But I would love a mini flute or a mini violin, and the whole timeline surrounde by notes. In the front "why, fret, just slide", this site is exciting, nobody really wants to be a winner, But everyone likes to see an idea.
The TIMELINE: in front or in the back? In my search, I met even a GUITAR 1650!!!
I return later, because I am already busy for 1 hour. De website us concerning renaissance and a little bit baroque

RENAISSANCE: some sources say: LUTE, others PIANO, and others CELLO !?! (no violin?)
BAROQUE

renaissance                    this should represent the timeline?                                                                                                chordian

HOW MANY GROUPS, WHO STARTED IN THE SIXTIES, ARE STILL ALIVE & KICKING, EVEN PERFORMING.
ORIGINAL LINE UP?
- could have been Pink Floyd if Waters didn't leave the band.
THIS SUBJECT IS A BRAIN KILLER

I read wrong, DICK in stead of PICK, but it's in fact a word that looks funny if you use it here.
This question, about the pick or plectrum: I prefer more soft picks, but than again not too soft. I use a lot of "dunlops", who are the best for me, to play. You have a very light gray plectrum, but that one is really soft, in fact too soft.
You can compare the pick I use with the structure and flexibilty of a credit card. I even, made 2 picks out of an old credit- or bankcard. They are hard, but absolutely not too hard, and at the same time they are soft, but again not too soft.
I think that the original, and also the first picks were made of the shell of a turtle.
You will also find guitar players using a coin to play. I tried this once, but the sound you get is TOO METALLIC.

How can you put a picture in "this field" to show a guitar; or an other instrument.
Copy and Paste gives nothing.

I am 200% sure if these ideas are "approoved", we'll have very lovely shirts.
Isn' it weird, I have never seen a forum like this. We are almost all a group of friends. Especially thpse who we can spot a lot.
Dear administrator: what about a reunion? It can be realised. But every single chordian must have the opportunity, like $$$.
For me it is really difficult, due to my condition: wheelchair on the airport, and a compagnon to help.
But if I know that it will take place, my favourite place is still Las Vegas Nevada, because, usually, the flights are cheaper, and if you take an hotel, like Circus Circus, you pay $50 per room.
The ultimate dream should be; finding a sponsor, try to visit the factory of fender, let me dream...

I agree, but wait for other ideas. mhebert's idea is really great, but I would like to see on the shirt: the name website, and "chordian".
mhebert: what do you exactly mean with  why fret, just slide.
It woul be beautiful his TIMELINE, because it is quit representative.
ARE YOU A BIG MUSIC FAN
BECOME NOW A CHORDIAN
Using this with the timeline, and CHORDS of course, or like music sheet, with notes, and small different instruments, following the timeline: harpsichord, lute

Thanks Rog, because there was a 15% discount, there were a lot of people, however, it looks pretty well to an equaliser, and I was told that I could correct "false" notes, sliding one of the knobs.
I was busy to try to show it, but how the f** does it works, I saw already pictures of a guitar, and other stuff, but WHAT HAVE I DONE MY LORD????
So they told me that I can correct things, before they are recorded.
BUT ANY HELP IS WELCOME.

I wrote about a guitar, but nadine's idea is better. There must be someone who can paint a "picassolike" item, that SHOULD BE INTERPRETED as a guitar, but I am afraid if we start adding all the people playing different instruments, we will need more a T-shirt that can be used to go to bed in the winter, because add: sax, (no sex Nadine), trumpet, piano, flute, ukulele, guitar, drums, bass, harpsicord, harp, even a juke box, there will be no place. Maybe a guitar, most of us play that instrument I think, surrounded by little pianos, drums, trumpets.. and MUSIC NOTES!! About the text, the word chordian is quit popular and a must of course the website: www. chordie.com
Something: you want (to be a) music(ian), you'll get it on CHORDIE.
Nice contest.

(58 replies, posted in About Chordie)

I don't know what you can do more, writing out a contest, and the winner gets a trip to GRUHN in Nashville? hahahahahahahaha
Everyone likes to see his project, so I should suggest to make 1-3 different kinds, printed and made in large quantities it won't affect the price. I suggested the with and without sleeves.
I think that the most difficult part will be: trying NOT to hurt feelings, and maybe as I told, using MAXIMUM 3 different slogans, or pictures, using most of the ideas.
In a later stage, you can keep 3-5 ideas, I hope you can show the best ideas, and than the chordians can vote, but ONLY 1 week. Most votes: wins, AND, you can check it only 1 vote per chordian.
Is this reasonable? or not?

Playing a song you know, and seeing A, B, D used as chords, you find often a chord like Db7, following immediatly a chord like D, and followed immediately by a B.
In stead of using that chord, I skip it. Because it is an-inbetween-chord, it doesn't affect my song.
I wanted to know your opinion, certainly because the presence of the chord means that this chord should be used.
HOW DO YOU HANDLE THIS? Do you play it with, or without that chord, fellow chordians?

I am aware of the fact that there is a topic on chordie.
I ask a question belonging here, I think.
- When do you use a capo.
- Is there a difference between an electric guitar capo and an acoustic?
- What is the purpose, because it solves sometimes a transposition problem?

I use it when I play with my friend to play a particular song DIFFERENT, so we both play the same song, and the one who uses the capo, plays higher, resulting in a quit harmonic song.
