I think my biggest music festival might be at donington for the monsters of rock in 1988 , before they reduced the crowd since 2 or 3 died when guns and roses came on, I tihnk they got crushed in the crowd.

I certainly got crushed. I had no feet on the ground at one point wit hmy arms by my side and moving forward. I could not do anything to top it. Very scary situation not being in control of your legs as you get crushed in among 100,000 people.

Hi Gita.

Yer not alone. I am a massive fan of syd barrett, I also know too much about him  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Roger and David visited him for just a little while to give him his royalties from the records but every year they never saw him they still made sure he got his royalties.

But after reading a lot about him, particularly the book " lost in the woods" it makes me tink that David and Roger talked bollox sometimes about how much they loved syd. Syd went into the recording studio when they were doing the finishing touches of "wish you were here"and asked when he was to put his guitar tracks down on the music, to get the reply, It is all finished syd we have done it. If they really cared that much for an old friend, they could have let him join back in the band, or at least let him try get back in.

Also, I wrote in a thread about Syd and drugs. I got a reply ( but I never replied back to that) that david gilmour replaced Syd in the band. Well, he never actually replaced him in my eyes, even though maybe technically he might have. Syd and David were in the band at the same time, so there were 5 members of the pink floyd then. It was when Syd stpped turning up for gigs or arriving at gigs and strumming one chord all the time he was asked to leave. David was originally brought in to help with the guitar while Syd forgot and stared into nothing.

Gilmour added something different to the band sound wise and I think maybe ths is why they never tried to get Syd involved in future recordings.

Lots of people think his music is crp and I can see why they think that, but if they actually listen t the lyrics and the structure of the songs he wrote, some might change their minds.

His first song he wrote is thought to have been Effervesing elephant. Now any 16 year old that writes a song like that and tis was without drugs has got to be a genius.

I could sit here and rewrite a book on him but I best not  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

As for the brian jones stuff, sorry, no idea, but I am going to go hunt for them now. I will let you know if I fnd anything

I agree with everything Craig just said there. But this will not stop me mentioning a few names, great names, and yes, I mention him a lot and I shall do s again.

Syd Barrett ( first singer/guitarist wit hthe pink floyd) A true legend! an LSD casualty.

He got so much out his face on drugs he was left out the band because of his erratic behaviour. Before dabbling he was a gifted song writer, he influenced the phsycadelic scene in the 60's in a very very big way. Musicians in the London area respected his work. early floyd influenced the beatles for their sgt peppers album and tangerine dream and most other bands that wanted to go in that directon of music.

I am led to believe through books that it was pink floyd that introduced colourful lights to music, so maybe without Syd being outhis face and experimenting, we might not have such colourful lights? ( probably would)

JImmy hendrix, a superb performer, wrote some great classic songs while out his nut. Lots were not interested in his music but what he done on stage while on drugs. So without hi drug fuelled concerts would he have got so big?

And back to Pink Floyd.

People think they took drugs all the time, they didnt!!. During the tour of the wall Roger waters was so pissed ofwith people going to see them and smoking hash and takingdrugs he decided to build a big wall on stage and the band would play behind it, so the audience would not see the band but only hear them. Ths pissed off david gilmour and richard wright so they compromised and did show themselves when the all got broken down, as well as the odd appearance thru the show.

So thru drugs and music, or the annoyance of drugs with music, Roger waters created one of the best ever stage shows in the world for a concept concert.

Drugs as said, opens the mind to think differently ( and I can vouch for that  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border=0 alt="Rolling Eyes">  )

But I think drugs should be left well alone, especially if it is just for the purpose to write music or perform it. Might be ok to sart with but after all these great names that have been mentioned have died or had to resign from music what is the point?

Per,

I have tried it again.

When I click on king's x it takes me to a page for KING.

I have copied the address fom the top and it does show king's x, or sort of.

I think it might have something to do with the "king/'s 20x" part of it.

Also I notice when I have pasted this link it does not give th full link, from that part I have mentioned the link stops ( no underlined part for the end of the link)

<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.chordie.com/song.php/songartist/King/" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songartist/King/</a>'s%20X/index.html

if you copy this link and paste it into the address bar it still take you to king. But if you amend the adress bar so that part says king'sx, it takes you to kings x. Butalso the name ofthe band when you do this changes from king's x to king/s x or something like that.

Hope this hels you see what is wrong.

aha,

I know what ye mean.

On the page it looks like there is no big space of blankness, then you print it and there is.

I have had this a few times.

It is easily rectified if it is in your songbook.

Firstly go into your songbook and click on edit for te song.

Then take away all the ### 's and any other thing that doesnt look right. Have it so in the edit part of the song the song starts after the Band name and the title.

this should help you with your big gap of nothingness.

Also this helps when you see a song and some lyrics start a few lines into the song, but if you go in edit, you will see the missing words are actually there.

hope this helps

hmmm.

people are saying here that capo is on the wrong way??

I hae the exact same capo and I put mine on that way and it works fine.

This kyser capo isthe best capo I have found to use.

If you use it round the other way then it will be the weakest part of the clamp holding down the thickest string (E) and I think this would be wrong!!

as suggsted, try moving it about the fret, closer or farther away from the fret, or with a slight squint on it. Or failing all that, turn it around.

Or as also suggested, might e a faulty capo.

take it to the shop you bought it and ask them to try it out on one of their guitars.

Hi,

ok, after a few trial and errors I have worked out a way for you to get to king's x instead of it taking you to KING.

click on this link then go up to your address bar and change king to king's x

<a href="http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songartist/King/index.html" target="_blank">http://www.chordie.com/song.php/songartist/King/index.html</a>

this will get you to king's x.

Per will have to look into this problem with king's x taking you to KING.

I tihnk it might have something to do with the  " 's " after king?????

Hope this helps

Hi

No idea why it is doing that.

When i print a song out I get the chords printed in blue above the lyrics, the way it is shown on screen.

I dont get everything else, but at the end of the song it does print out the chords.

sorry, no idea, it works fine for me.

I do not use the option for printig songs though. I use the print icon on my windows to get my songs printed.

Might be something to do with microsoft or firefox?

Great lyrics James.

I was trying to play this but I just canny find a melody.

Did I say great lyrics? I meant superbious ( if there was ever a word) lyrics. Sums up the legal system in lots of places in the world I think, and where you have stonings, us westerners ( Europe, Uk and USA) see it as harsh and cruel.

Good work

hi p333p

well, you cannot do it in chordie, but the owner and admin of chordie is making a new sitethat people can share the songs with others. As long as it is your own work you cn submit it to the new site whn it opens.

I do not know exactly when the site is going to be up and running though!!!

Apart from this new site that will be starting I could sugest sites like youtube or myspace if you want your stuff to be heard wit h heavy advertising.

Also on this site we have a section for song writers. You can let others see your lyrics and the chords to the music.

al the bst in whatever you do.

Thanks Rbrown, the reply I was looking for, but not wanting to hear, lol, if ye know what I mean.

Good to hear I am not going to ruin my uke with wire strings!!

I have gotten well used to the uke now, I love it.

And I will look up this other instrument you mention, I have never heard of it but then that is no suprise, there are probably over 100 instruments i have never heard of.

Cheers

I cant remember seeing a wee diamond on a chord diagram. I shall look again.

But I do know ( and maybe you do too) that if you see a     0     it means to play the string open. Maybe the diamond means the same? or to let a tone ring out?

apart from that i have no idea either.

Looking forward to seeing what it means also if not to play an open string

Hi David

I have this problem too sometimes.

If I have wrote lyrics first before the music but have an idea how the song goes then I hum the tune in the note that the words have to be sung and fart around with different chords til I find the right chords and chord progressions.

Or, I make up a tune, even if it is a very basic tune and make the words fit, sometimes I have to change a word or two.
