I've never liked fighting crowds over the holidays so I'll spend Friday night and Saturday at home watching college football, attend a friend's birthday party Saturday night, attend my bro-in-law's annual Labor Day cookout on Sunday, chill out at home on Monday then spend Tuesday-Thursday on a fishing trip in WV with my son and one of my old paddling friends.
Where in WV? I was born there and lived there till I was 15.

I have noticed lately that at odd times of the very early morning, skype will tell me an individual is online,, I know at 3AM central, that My friend is not up. I even asked him the next day. so why would skype be getting the idea that someone is on when he is not?
I thought maybe it was because someone in Pat's family may have been on his computer,, but that was not the case either.
Ok well thanks

I never caught on to slapping, but I was taught how to do it. I can show him the positions, but it will be up to him to figure it out from there.
I was using that as a toung in cheek expression ;-)
Maybe we can work out a time for the three of us to sit down at teh computer.

Re: Music organization (11 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I have 5 folders under one big one. main one is called ALT music file. one file is all the stuff I have bought as direct down loads, another one is a file of music all from one guy at work and so is another file. ect.
As far as organizing it,,, I let Windows Media player find all and take care of it. I used to use media monkey,, but then they went and "upgraded" to a version that might as well be I-tunes. (I hate I tunes) and so I have been forced to go back to WMP. But shoot, even in your files all the albums /grupes will have their own file and all be alphabitized. If you have tones of loose mp3s WMP or a program like it might be your best bet. you might likethe new media monkey its free for basic. and while looking I saw one called song bird that looks like media monkey USED to look like. I think ill try that one tonight ok I hope this helps

After the Jam the other night, I had to go to the chordie search. I printed out
Sundown( after it was done, I have to try it out), and Baby Step back. its going to be tough to get the rythm going right but Ill try it. and Alberta Bound. Good songs for the 12 string.
(and for my hard side i printed a bunch of Betty Blowtorch! HAHAHAHAHAHAH )
I was thinking of "This old guitar" by John Denver. It is really a story that fits my relationship with my Ovation. Maybe,,, Ill see how hard it will be.

Pete the whole distracted driver and lack of giving a Sh!t is worse now than ever. I remember even b4 all the electronics,, I would see ppl reading the paper or a book as they cruised down the road.
Being a guy on a motorcycle, this scares the crap outta me everytime I get on the road.
I have what I call and my bike forum buddies agree, to be a good attitude, its called Aggressive / Defencive. Im not trying to piss anyone off, but Im not letting them push me around either. It happens, but as long as Im of the mind set that I am everyones moving target, it keeps me ahead of the fools.,,,, So far. Ive been down 2 times, both minor thank god, I like to think that by having a good respect for the dangers and two bike safety courses (basic and experienced) it helps me to stay alive. KNOCK ON WOOD.

Re: Any skype jams this weekend? (16 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
All I do are slow and steady riffs on blues scales. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing you need to know about bass for rock, country, or blues, is which scale to use, where the 1, 3, and 5 notes are for each chord (or flatted third for blues) and be sure to be on the root note of the current chord on 1 and 3 for common time or on 1 for waltz time.
If you'd like for me to encourage him on that, I'd be happy to do it, but I really don't think of myself as an instructor. Given that I haven't had a bass on a stage since my youngest was born seven years ago, I'm not even sure I count as a bass player any more.
- Zurf
Well you got me beat! LOLOLOL espically talking about 1, 3, and 5's! for what ever reason I just can not get my head around it! it must be so simple that it eludes me. but yea I would love for you to encourage him and show him the correct way to play the scales.
You know how it is, funner to learn from one who is not your parent (we dont know anything , do we LOLOLOL). But I think he would be receptive and get a kick out of it. I think he really wants to do it. he just wants to (like many starters) be great and be "slapping the bass" from the get go.
