Okay, I stole an idea from Roger and James and tried not to be so serious for a change so here is my submittion. Basicly Blues in E with my complaints about how "accurate" the DC area weather people are.

Weathered (or) The Weatherman Blues By Jeff Gilpin – March 10th, 2007

intro:

[E] [A] [B7] [A] [B7] [E7]

[E]Wake up in the morning

What’s it gonna do

[A]Weather man says

Skys gonna be blue

[E]I dress for sunny skys and head out the door

[B7]That’s about the time the [A]rain begins to pore[E] [B7]

I said, [A]Damn!

That weather [E]man

He [B7]got me[A] weathered again[E]

Yeah, I Said, [A]Damn!

That weather [E]man

Yeah, he’s [B7]got me[A] weathered again[E] [B7]

[E]Okay, it's another day

So it's you know gotta be better

[A]I mean its a 50-50 shot

Just guessing at the weather

[E]Burr he says, you’re gonna be freezing

[B7]So why am I sweating? [A]You know the reason[E] [B7]

I said, [A]Damn!

That weather [E]man

He's [B7]got me[A] weathered again[E]

Yeah, I Said, [A]Damn!

That weather [E]man

Yeah, he’s [B7]got me[A] weathered again[E] [B7]

Break

He says it's [A]mostly cloudy; you better [E]wear your shades fellas

[A]Sunny all day, you better [E]take your umbrellas

[A]No chance of snow, then [E]break out your shovels

That [B7]weatherman he ain’t nothing but trouble

[A]Picnic weather means we [E]got a lightning storm

[A]He says blizzard then we're [E]gonna get warm

[A]Droughts about over means [E]maybe next year

So [B7]why’s the weather’s being [A]not so clear?[E] [B7]

Repeat verse music only

Back to break

Finish with chorus below

Said, [A]Damn!

That weather [E]man

[B7]Got me [A]weathered again[E]

Yeah I said, [A]Damn

That weather [E]man

[B7]He got me[A] weathered again[E7]

Okay....more playing with your song and I think the <b>C7</b> (I added in the chorus) fits better with a <b>G</b> right after. Then it rolls back into the verses better. And adding a break might be good as you say. But it's a pretty fun song to play loud  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

Okay, I took a look but adjusted it a bit so see what you think:

I played as written but thru in a <b>D</b> on "fun" not <b>G</b>

and in the chorus I added a <b>C7</b> on "tonight"

I continued on through out the song with these "adjustments" and it sounded almost "Back in the USSR"-ish if you know what I mean

Played at a pretty thumping pace it sounds hot

This is a song Alison Krauss and Union Station have on their New Favorite CD. I believe it was written by Wendy Waldman, Who has some really great music on her MySpace page (<a href="http&#58;&#47;&#47;www.myspace.com/wendywaldman" target="_blank">http://www.myspace.com/wendywaldman</a>) but I can not find the chords for "I'm Gone" anywhere on the net. Any help??

I believe it is a <b>GCD; GCD; EmCD; GCD</b>

Wrap these around the lyrics and check it out for yourself and see what you think.

Cheers

Thanks James - She shared a little but mostly kept it to herself. Now I have to figure out something else to write about. I have a few ideas for other songs but nothing on paper yet.

Okay, I broke the ice with the song about my daughter moving away so here is the first song I wrote for my wife earlier this year on Valentines Day. Kind of mushy but definitely from the heart (and went over big with the wife)...Hope you all like it.

I Love About You Jeff Gilpin - 02/14/2007

Your [Am]smile when least [F]expected

can [C]take my breath [G]away.

You [Am]transport me from [F]thoughts disconnected

to [C]thoughts of a brand new [G]day.

[Em]You don’t know you have this [F]power

that’s [C]what I [G]love about [Am]you.

[Am]Some days you get so [F]angry.

It’s [C]like you expect much [G]more.

But your [Am]expectations [F]inspire me

Inspi[C]ration that I a[G]dore.

[Em]You don’t know you drive me [F]higher

another [C]thing I [G]love about [Am]you.

[E7]I’m not sure how I [Am]got so lucky [E7]in just meeting [Am]you.

[E7]How on earth you [Am]joined me and [Dm]made my dream come true. [G7]

I’ll [F]count every day that [C]we have together

[F]Pray our moments can [C]last forever

[F]Dedicate my life to [C]always treasure

[F]always [C]treasure [G7]you.[Am]

You [Am]look at me with a [F]different eye

[C]you see a different [G]me

[Am]You see me doing the [F]best that I can

And [C]not caring who can [G]see.

[Em]You don’t know it’s you that I [F]do it all for

Another [C]things I [G]love about [Am]you.

[Em]With you my life has meant much [F]more...

Another [C]thing I [G]love about [Am]you

I was fortunate enough to take some lessons from Mike Trella, one of the guitars who plays with Politicks who are a band out of Northern Virginia and the DC area. Check them out at:

Thanks Roger. I thought it fit too. I wrote the words first and then tried to figure a melody to go with them and it worked out. Using a Cadd9 in place of the E in the chorus works too but the E sounds fine to me. I need to figure out what to write next now. By the way, both you and James are song writing machines. Thanks for the inspiration and I'll try to come up with more songs.

Hey James,

Thanks, you totally got what I was trying to say as well. She's leaving in any where from a few weeks to a few months and I couldn't think of the right way to let her know how I felt.

I'll correct the format right away.

I've got some pretty good rock songs on my song books but it's mixed with a bunch of other stuff as well. Maybe 15 to 20 give or take on the 3 books that I've published on public books. There are some other's books that are all rock songs. Have a look.

Good luck,

Jets

I was surprised I didn't hear much about a performer who was such a great influence on modern music in the news. Any comments?<img src="index.php?t=getfile&id=60&private=0" border=0 alt="index.php?t=getfile&id=60&private=0">

I couldn't find out but Jeff Beck did work with Jan Hammer so it could have been him - Keep looking I guess

I like Alison Krause and Union Station but I guess they are not for every body. I've never heard a bad AKUS CD.

I agree - and should have read this before posting the same thing. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_redface.gif" border=0 alt="Embarassed">

I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to know when new songs are posted but other than randomly searching or just happening upon them by chance I know of no way to find newly posted songs. Can you help?
