I am in fact a strummer too, LET STRUMMERS RULE.
I admit that more and more, I try to play "docphil finger picking style". Why this name: because it is something between strumming and fingerpicking, maybe STRUMPICKING?
THAT IS ALSO THE REASON THAT I AM NOT FOLLOWING CLASS TO PLAY BETTER.

THIS doesn't mean that I feel superior, absolutely not. Even players like Steve Vai are learning every single day. But I NEED TO THANK CHORDIE, for all the open, honest and interesting information, because when I read answers on topics, in my case, I learn a lot from young people, so Itry different styles. Compared to January, when I became a member and now: I can tell you: there is progression.

In addition to evanmierlo, I wanted to ask something similar.
IF YOU WROTE A SONG: MELODY AND LYRICS, and you put this song on youtube or myspace, to find out some months later that SOMEBODY has a smash hit with your number he probably saw on these sites. IS THE FACT THAT YOU CAN PROVE THAT YOUR SONG WAS SOME MONTHS BEFORE ON THESE SITES ENOUGH PROOF FOR A LAW SUIT, or do you need to bring in the song in the official organisation, RIAA?

Yes, I tried the baby taylor. AMAZING. What a sound. I believe, even small, it is worth his price.
I have a Martin Backpacker, producing a very strange sound, you can compare it to a mix of guitar-banjo-mandolin, and I tried it using a mic: amazing sound, but IMPOSSIBLE to play sitting.
BIG MISTAKE MARTIN MAKERS.
About the prices I wrote down: they are all in US dollar.
My currency is ALSO NOT A DOLLAR, but EURO. Try the XE currency converter.

WHAT IS THE "STYLE" YOU USE TO PLAY GUITAR???
- Finger picking (I am jealous here, but it starts slowly going better.
- Solo guitar
- Lead & rhythm
- strumming, using licks and riffs.

CONCLUSION: I am very CURIOUS what style of playing the guitar is most popular for us, chordians. ALSO, what is your dream to play which style. Mine is finger picking.

Well this is interesting news, do they still make Fenders in Japan?
It also depends what a FENDER STRATOCASTER is today. 30 years ago, you had a stratocaster and a telecaster, and that was all I think. But if you stand in front of US stratocasters today, you don't know what to choose, a Beck model, a Clapton model, the relic series, some almost identical Fenders, have a different price, sometimes only 50-100$, it is really searching to find the right guitar.

It can be upyerkilt, my king, that there was a similar question, about, if I am right, groups who had influence. But her it is because of some sixties groups, often perform, in what I like to call, a "senior circuit" to get some money, like the Troggs. By the way, one of the best and funniest things about the troggs is that their frontman REG PRESLEY, wrote in interviews that thanks to the "smash hit, love is all around, performed by Wet Wet Wet in the movie about weddings and funerals, he had more than enough money thanks too the royalties to spend the rest of his life as a rich man.
But now I wanted more to know if there are still groups started in the 6ties, having the complete original line-up. The WHO, only 2 left. DID YOU KNOW WHO WROTE THE SONG "WILD THING" by the Troggs? Ask it 1000 persons, I doubt if you will have a correct answer: mail be if you know it, and also if you don't know it. I give you the answer

Thanks dollie, I still feel good, I am Dr FEELGOOD. But even knowing that the pain I have is a part of me, it is sometimes too much. I am too busy on my PC, and when I get up, I have to hold me everywhere because I can't walk no more. There is 1 thing I regret, and that still makes me sad: I contacted Carnival Cruise Lines in Miami, 1 month after a surgical intervention, to make me better, but it was worse. Guess what, I met the responsible for recruiting the medical staff, in the Netherlands, his girlfriend lives there, only 62 kilometres from where I live. He explained me everything, also described my cabin, on a corner, a real big one, having a huge plasma television, and, I'll never forget his words: for you doctors, it is LOVE BOAT. That will be, except for your job, the biggest problem. They know that being a doctor on a cruise ship, you are free, and a lot of women take the first step. You are also the 4th in ranking, and they love uniforms, also he told me that all the doctors are married 3-5 years later with (almost always a rich woman). But my interest was THAT JOB. All my friends told me that I was crazy, I can't work here, so how can I work on a ship: 10 minutes on my knees and they need 2 persons to get me standing, always followed by my left leg, that has no power, so I would giove the impression of a drunk: US---BIG PROBLEMS. I am also a gifted hypnotist, but performing?? you have to stand.

Can someone help me.
I have a ORIGINAL GIBSON LES PAUL 1968, NO REISSUE, the real thing.
The problem is, because I had already a Gibson Les Paul custom, 1978, I tried to bring back the 1968 custom, back to the custom early fifties.
You had a choice: black P-90 pick ups, and later they used 3 PAF's.
So I changed  the pick ups, in a guitar store, being watching, how they changed them with P-94, to fit in the humbucker cavity.
They put the original pick ups in a strong plastic box.
- What kind of humbuckers were these: PAF's or not
- When my ex-girlfriend left me 2 years ago, I noticed that there was no box left. My only hope is that they are still on the attick, but due to my disability I can't verifie it.
- I have the impression that this , I repeat, ORIGINAL 1968 US GIBSON BLACK LES PAUL CUSTOM, is worth quit a lot of money. But even with the P-94's, I don't regret that I changed, because the sound is amazing, this guitar will keep a reasonable price, but if I can find the original pick-ups, humbuckers, it would be a very expensive guitar.
Has someone an idea about the price, with the original humbuckers?
And if I don't find the pick-ups, where can I find these 1968 humbuckers?

I do agree. I was involved in a discussion with PRS, a few days ago, I will try to copy and paste their answer. I wrote PRS concerning a special, and a probably "would be a future super investment, they made 3 different models, with different coils. I will write them like this s= single coil and h= humbucker. 3 different models: S-S-S (Lindy Fralin pick-ups in domino shape) a S-S-H and a H-S-H. PROBLEM: I purchased them on eBay, but the last 10 months, you will not see a US made EG. You will see a PRS EG SE S-S-S made in Korea, looks like a strat, and the S-S-S US made sounds BETTER than my original Fender US Stratocaster 1964.
The purpose was to go in competion with Fender. PROBLEM, they only started around 1985, and they produced 2 US models from 1990-1992, and one from 1990-1994. At this moment, they started to produce the PRS EG SE, in Korea. I have one: A PRS Billy Martin SE. SE stands for Student Edition. The sound is great, it is a "light guitar, and even worse: it sounds better than my Gibson SG Menace.
I asked them if their was a big difference between SE and USA, the answer I got:
The SE models are fantastic guitar, especially considering the price, but I feel the US made guitars are the finest electric guitars anywhere. Some of the pickups were the same, like the HFS, but others were different like the Fralin Domino pickups. If you mail them: you will get an answer very fast.
I am thinking, if I will have more money again, to buy a singlecut PRS, like the soapbar. I will ask PRS what the difference is between US soapbar and Korean soapbar. The SE production is in KOREA, but reading all critics and tests: PRS seems to be the only company, testing and studying the Korea made guitars. Even for an SE, they want the highest quality standards (at least this is what most of guitar magazines write. If you have time read some comments about the SE line.
They receive almost always the highest rating, and in fact you get MORE guitar than you paid for.
So, I am still doing research why these guitars are so "loved" and I try to figure out what the real difference is. One thing: low production cost, but that is not the only reason why you pay 500$ in stead of 5000$. Is IT THE WOOD, THE CONSTRUCTION? the hardware can be different, but that is also not the reason. You can always change the SE pick-ups by US pick-ups, but will it sound better.
CONCLUSION: The best guitar, in my opinion, is PRS SE: reasonable price and a great sound.
If I buy one, being a PRS FAN, it might be the single cut soapbar.

I don't know if this is the real story about how they started, the only facts I know is FENDER was sold to CBS and Leo Fender got a job as advisor and silent partner, leaving FENDER because there was a big discussion in 1970.
I think it must be painful to see your "child" raised by a company who only was interested in making big $$$. In 1970 he left Fender and started to work for MUSIC MAN (Forrest White &d Tom Walker.) guitars in 1972.
Sold in 1980, and legally not able to use his name, he started with George Fullerton the brand G&L.

What I really don't know is:
- Music Man still produced.
- G&L guitars, of course with a fender look, if they are still sold?
MUSIC MAN had some famous artists, like Steve LUKATHER, EDDIE VAN HALEN, STEVE MORSE.
About G&L: I don't know if this company still exists and is producing guitars: but where? In or outside the USA?
BUT I NEED YOU HERE CHORDIANS: is there a big difference between Fender Stratocaster and the "look-a like G&L?"
What is the REAL DIFFERENCE" between those 3 guitars, where Leo Fender was involved?
ThANK YOU ALL

I saw the Michael Kenny guitars, real nice.
I think I mentioned that I went to a music store with me (everything 15% of the retail price), and we tried out some Epi's, more specific SG models. YOU NEED REALLY TO FORGET THAT IT IS NOT A GIBSON SG, but that will remain impossible. EPI = EPI, they are real good, if I would buy me another guitar (still have 30) I would go for the EPIPHONE CUSTOM LP IN WHITE.
I did good business, or better, investments, because all what I own, has doubled in price since 2 years. Prices are going crazy.
I forgot I did buy once a "CHINESE GIBSON" Beautiful on the outside, I received it but 250$ transport, but only 1$ for the FAKE. Fantastic shiny top, like the on the LP SUPREME. Playing, the guitar was at least 25% lighter than another, but she sounded not bad at all, the only problem was the noise, feedback from your amp. With a 10 metres of cable you could avoid it. I was thinking about putting EMG's, selling was not fair, I saw a lot of "US CITIZENS" placing their bogus gibson on eBay, even with comments like super Gibson, and the price was starting from 1$. I had the luck that the guy who buyed the Epi SG, NEEDED and WANTED REAL BAD that Gibson, he paid me 300€ = 410$, I even didn't ask him a price and he new it was a bogus, a CHINESE GIBSON LES PAUL, but she was so beautiful, and as told not bad at all. He is still really happy, and even more happy that nobody believes him.

SELSO, I discovered it on the acoustic site and because I can not delete it, I rapported this thing, porn, to the ADMINISTRATORS.
You are right, and you will have trouble in every site, but this is growing so fast (chordie) that we are surprised that such things happen. Also a "lousy thing" is when you download a song, the last 30 seconds are not there.
But here with minors (more than you think) I hope they prosecute that guy.

The KINKS: Rock and Roll Fantasy, is a beautiful song. In fact one of the most beautiful tunes.
You know, in Napster time, I had more than 300 KINKS songs
PROCOL HARUM: 300-400 songs. This is unbelievable.
I have paid for WinMx, and this is one of the best today. I was able to download the complete Creedence Clearwater Revival, box. See on Amazon. Every single song is in that bow. Of course I have all their CD's, I baught one in a Pawn shop for 2$.
The Who: incredible. BUT I HAVE ONE BIG PROBLEM: since I had to stop working as MD, I don't listen (sometimes) my albums. When I was still active, I spend a lot of time listening my CD's, I listened 6 CD's in 4-5 days.
But on the other hand, I am glad. When I had to stop because of medical reasons (I was a walking pill, at the end, you never get used to pain) I started more to play myself, and having the opportunity, I purchased 10 guitars, on eBay, PRS (4) Gibson (3) and of course a Fender strat and tele. Add 4 acoustic guitars.. I shouldn't have done that last year, but I play AND collect guitars. The price of the PRS EG series has doubled in price in 1 year. That's why I always give advise to spend some more $$, obtaing a guitar that is no longer produced.

The most chords used in songs, and I am not mentioning # or b, are A  B  C  D  E  F  G

- Add a melancholic touch using the "minor chords Am  Bm   Cm  Dm   Em  Fm   Gm

- Add a bluesy touch:  A7   B7   C7   D7   E7  F7  G7.
If you can play all these chords flawless, you are already a quit good guitar player.

Well, monsieur c'est la verite.
But I can't fart like that, they are capable to "suck" air with their anus. And about the clouds I described, it is true too, but try to DO IT . Every living being (don't know about insects) get's air in the stomach. That air has 2 ways to get out: mouth & anus.
So ALL the people who claim that they don't fart, are lying. I have to invent a kind of spray, with a harmless, and "colour giving" product. Let's say it's purple, well because of the air in de stomach, it will leave from behind. So, everybody is farting, and you would see a little purple cloud.
WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THAT BEING A BABY, farting and (is this the right word?) eructation. But suddenly all these things are forbidden. WHY ???
If there is no farting or eructation, you well have serious problems. When you had a surgical intervention, the first thing they ask are about this.

Another point: You believe in Jesus, but when he comes to sit at your table, and you talk with him, well this will result in everything except believing.

Well Old Doll, this is touching for me, because of BAD memories.
My father who hated music, probably like all fathers, there were 3 favourites.
Joan Baez, He loved Gospel, and some Bob"nasal" Dylan, before he went electric.
Why am I touched: With my mother, we drove to a SUPER STORE, and I buyed the brand new Album: Live Rhymin' by Paul Simon.
Arriving at home: a doctor stood there to tell us : your father has gone. On the 4th May 1974, at the age of 45. He teached me to appreciate Joan Baez, and Gospel, and I tried to learning to accept (NOT HARD ROCK or METAL), some songs like Yesterday. I really have to look at mams place, because he had a lot of old blues records, like Howling' Wolf. That's why am touched. Also, I told you that there was a second disaster: my car crash: 45 years old, same profession, and mother going crazy. I didn't care that much compared to my mother.
STRANGE: same age, same profession, but they could reanimate me twice. Coincidence, or real?

Like Royce Drake: start Em and the first chord to play is as described. There is a little "switch"and if you compare the chord is
e   x      o

B   x      x

G   x      x

A   x      o

E   x       x    this chord is actual a Em9

I use the o to tell you where to put your fingers, staying, in fact this whole song is played on the 2nd fret.
DO NOT THINK IT'S EASY, because of the "quicker" changes, but the day you can play it for 100%, you will enjoye. Use Acoustic or Electro-Acoustic guitars
The add means something, Aadd6: is the A on the second fret but you add the little E chord. So an A but instead of 3 fingers, you add a 4th finger on 2nd fret. It looks like this:
x   x   x   x   x   x  1th fret
x   x   o   o   o   x  2nd fret

That's why I wrote THEY ARE THE BEST, but do me a favour and go to amazon: joan baez, and you can listen 30 seconds: it is IDENTICAL.

I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, but more and more I find Led Zeppelin songs who are real covers.
The song: BABY, I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU, is written by a certain Anne Bredon, also performed by JOAN BAEZ: go to www.amazon.com search Joan Baez, and.... yes THAT song.
You can find more and more, for me a huge Zeppelin fan, very disappointing material.
GOOGLE: write "stolen songs", the first band you see is LED ZEPPELIN,
REALLY SAD WHEN YOU ARE A ZEPPELIN FAN. THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE, but they still remain the best.
PLEASE, I LIKE YOUR COMMENT ON THIS TOPIC

I had a lot of fun trying to play, or create another song about germs, or microbe.
WOULDN'T IT BE A SILLY, FUNNY STUPID BAND NAME:

DOCPHIL & THE VICROBES (the vibe, and microbe in 1 WORD together)
There was a topic about band names, but I love this one.
That little child" in me. As long, no matter how old we are, we have a little child feeling, you DO feel good.
More, if you act as an child with the knowledge of an adult, no bullsh**, you atract still women, almost always a lot younger.
But I am playing, better, try to construct a song, and I know 1 thing, it is fun.
Using some "bug" names, or  DID YOU HUG YOUR BUG today? ( thanks to have you hugged your guitar).
Silly lyrics, but more difficult than I thought combining it with a melody. I started now in Am followed by E, back to Am and followed by Dm. I have to pay attention here, because before you know, you are playing Fleetwood Mac' s "Black Magic Woman", better known in the SANTANA cover.
After Dm, I take a G, a C, and there is where the problem start: it sounds good using B7, also an F, and 2 or 3 other chords. Can't choose, I wait for my muse, who is sleeping now.

YES it is fantastic: "THE PARASITE SONG", thanks James, you are my muse, like I said.
But about germs: you have a "subject" that you can use, when I start writing about germs, or you chordians, because I know a lot about these "invisible" things, and the damage as a result from infection.
I will give you some names of "germs" (there is even a funny joke about them: 4 germs are playing poker in the bowel of a person, one of the germs looks on his watch, takes his money saying goodnight to the other 3, but 5 minutes later the germ is back. The others don't understand why he is back, and they want to know the reason, well said the germ, it's nothing serious, but I have to stay here for some hours extra, because I missed the SHIT bus from nine o clock.
Some germ names: NEVER FORGET WE NEED GERMS, BECAUSE QUIT A FEW GERMS DO PROTECT US, AND THEY WILL BE ONLY VERY AGGRESSIVE IF A PART OF YOUR SKIN IS AWAY. Like "burn" wounds. YOU have E. COLI, STAPHYLOCOCCUS AURELIUS, STREPTOCOCS, and more: if you have an ABSCESS, and you open it it has sometimes a horrible odour. Why: there are two different kinds: germs who DON'T like OXYGEN, and the most common: the ones who NEED oxygen. Only with the things I wrote, you can make a song. At this moment, I play it acoustic, slow and a little bit "bluesy" but, and this is for our younger chordians, when they like Metal, it sounds not bad, but the bluesy style is better. James DON'T forget: thousands of people here in the "western world" die a "HOSPITAL" germ: and the problem gets bigger and bigger, they are no more sensitive for antibiotics: to much Doctors prescribe these drugs. When Napoleon wanted to conquer Russia: he lost the war because of Germs (no GERMans).

Since years I trie to play ska or reggae, but IT IS IN MY CASE IMPOSSIBLE TO PLAY THAT RHYTHM STYLE.
Who can help me, by telling for example, that I have to strum, and counting at the same time? I even tried to play along, it's better than, but once the song stops: LOST AGAIN.

STRINGS: A difficult subject. I have a lot of acoustics, Martin, Gibson, but my problem is that I almost never change strings.
I play between 30 minutes and 90 minutes, and I change every x-time, a guitar to play.
I DO HAVE 1 IMPORTANT QUESTION: How do they measure the "quality of a string", are they testing how strong a string is. Take the smallest string, the E string, 0.10 or 0.11, the way I play and using those light strings is perfect.
BUT HOW TO COMPARE THE QUALITY: HANGING WEIGHTS ON THE STRING UNTIL IT SNAPS?
THE WAY OF VIBRATION?

Here, I have to say goodmorning Boot &  you all, the US chordians still sleeping. The European chordians, are out of bed, but awake??? and the down under aussies, well good evening.
Thanks Johncross for your answer.
I wrote this topic, it took me again a lot of time, but I don't regret, in my condition that my days are passing quit fast.
I am feeling sad since a time, don't ask me why, and sunday the 2th of September, it was already 7, SEVEN years that my life changed forever. THE CRASH & hitting a tree.
But this is not about me, it is about ELECTRIC GUITARS.
Boot do you know how to place a picture in here and a chord diagram.
I think the guitars I described are, at least for me, real good guitars.
There are 2 issues: go to Walmart and buy a pack for 99$ (guitar, amp, tuner..), or spending 100$ more to have a quality guitar. Most of these guitars, I've tried them, but at that time I had a big budget. A friend of me gave me his Stagg Telecaster, and I have a telecaster, not for the US market, and limited quantity, more those guitars have the same colour as a car back then. Mine is a tele USA California Beach (reissue 1952). I played and mine and the Stagg. YES there is a (big) difference. It's like driving a Porsche, and changing your car for a little copmact model.
The Stagg Tele is not a bad or inferior guitar at all. If you plug it into an effect processor (like Line 6 POD Floorboard) and you play it loud: you will almost not hear a difference.
But in an amp without any effect like wah-wah or distortion, you will hear it.
PLEASE GIVE ME MORE BRANDS AND PRICES, they can be very helpful for starters.I wrote the topic, because if your budget is only 100$, you can buy a cheap and bad sounding guitar, BUT WITH 50$ extra, you can own an Epiphone Special. I really loved that guitar: sound, solid, simple.
I will look now for guitars below or near to 100$
- Epiphone Collegiate Electric Guitar 99,99$ you can order not only the colour, but if you ask they change  Epiphone decks out this electric guitar with your choice of finish replicating the college's colours and logo of many of America's greatest Alma Maters. The list price was 499$, but is now at musiciansfriend 99,99$. There is ONLY 1 HUMBUCKER: bridge. HAVING AN EPI FOR THIS PRICE: YOU WILL NOT THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY, incredible guitar, to start and to keep. Same price: Epiphone Junior and Ibanez GRX40Z 2001. I should go for the special with logos you can choose.
AGAIN: PLEASE HELP ME FINDING GUITARS: GOOD SOUNDING AND OVERALL QUALITY versus PRICE
