That's a deep one, beamer.

Personally (and this is not a criticism, my friend). I've always considered religion and faith two separate entities. (Iknow "faith" doesn't appear in your poem) and I left the "man in the stole" a long time ago.

As far as religion being of "minimal cost". Not sure what you mean exactly, but those TV "Evangelists" make me think otherwise.

Again, this is just my reaction and is not meant as criticism, my friend. I like what you wrote and the way you wrote it.

Thank you for making me think a little today, beamer! smile

ETA: would the word "the" fit between "supposed" and "sin"?

Okay, here's the one with the musical love of my life my Jasmine. I'm playing along with "When I'm 64" on my 64th birthday 12/31/2014. smile

I have also listed my 4 guitars.

One thing which may be important is that I never spent more than 300.00 on any guitar after the Jas. I figured that being a beginner at that time I didn't need one any more expensive.

My late Dad once went with me to a music store and saw me trying a Gretsch White Falcon, and I'll never forget what he said: "You buy that one Son, you better damn sure know how to play it."

Wise words, don'tcha think?

Thanks

Where it's 10:36 am.

I finally got an avatar loaded.

I'll try to shrink one with me on guitar down to size when I can.

Have a beautiful Sunday, my friends!

Bill

Okay, just got back from a thorough investigation about bus fares, the ride, etc. and I don't think that's going to be a good way for me to travel. If I were 20 years younger and weren't demented, maybe. My wife just nixed it, too and she'd have to be along to handle the meds, etc.

Not gonna work riding the bus. Not a Greyhound.

smile

Thanks

There's always a bus trip.

Now there's an idea! I haven't ridden the grey dawg since I was in the USAF. Unfortunately, this too will have to be approved by my caregiver (aka wife) as I tend to get lost very easily on my own.

I'll check it out and let you all know.

Thanks, Joe! smile

Y'all ever heard of Atlanta? smile smile

We have the Coca-Cola museum. ROFLMAO

Or we could all meet at Panama City Beach in Florida, that's only about 350 miles from us.

They have the ocean and Dondra wouldn't have any trouble making that drive.

Only kidding, y'all. Have fun wherever you go and give me a number so I can at least call and say "Hey" on the speaker phone. Or something. smile

Sunny skies, 50's. No mention of snow. Here in West Georgia, USA, we've managed to duck the 8" snowfalls for the last 4 years.

Comment left, great sound, Russell.

Is that a wider than normal neck, or is it just my screwed-up eyes again?

Thanks for the share!

Bill

I'm gonna have to quit opening every new post about this! Y'all are makin' me jealous! wink

I love this song because it's a change from what I'm used to hearing about unrequited love, Maw and Paw, Jail, Driving a truck, Gettin' drunk, Women telling a guy to go to hell, Politics...... well you know what I mean, right?

This one is more personal and that's why it gets to me.

I would suggest one more "I still try" at the very end. Just makes it more poignant in my opinion. Otherwise don't change a thing. it's an awesome tune.

One has a trio and one USED to have a trio, but now has just the new 76'ers.

(This is a rewrite from a previous post which had wrong info).

Anyway...... The John Butler Trio is from Australia and have a very cool sound. In my opinion anyway.

And the other John Butler?..........Well, you might wanna go to YouTube and catch one of his tunes. Or you might not. wink

Have a great weekend, fellow pickers!

When you do, jets, would you post a link, please? Do I have to join soundcloud to listen to your song? I like the lyrics very much.

My god, Steve Howe!!!!!!! Of course! I didn't realize that was him. He must be, what, in his early 60's? No wonder McCartney was so complimentary! Thanks, TF! Without your explanation, I never would have known that, although I did at one time. smile Thanks also, for the tech specs. I knew I was in the right place when I saw all those sig lines featuring your gear!

This band Imagine Dragons is now playing live on Yahoo, Live Nation. McCartney likes them a lot.

well, I took my dementia meds and now I understand a bit more. But looking at it through my eyes, it still looks a little odd.

I guess what he does is sling that electric to his back and bring the accoustic around?

Thanks

Not talking about "misunderstood" ones, just weird ones.

I will be the first to admit that Jim Morrison was one weird cat, no argument, but when he wrote this one, was he soused/stoned out of his mind or hard up for a rhyme, or WHAT?

Listen for what comes after "Dog without a bone..."

".......actor out on loan..."

Did this come from Robbie Krieger's book (never read it, sorry)?

What say you, fellow songwriters/poets and players?

Thanks

Bill

For Phill:

Please excuse me having missed answering if I'd seen "Catch Us If You Can"/"Having A Wild Weekend". If I have, I can't remember it. I don't think it compared with any of The Fab's, though, or we'd be seeing it, remixed, remastered and resold. smile

Thanks!

Bill

ETA: I don't think Dave was all that great a drummer, but like Ringo, he played "time" just fine and he had that "stomping" going for him. Just my opinion as a drummer.

Grah,

Thank you, Sir! We get one of the BBC channels on our cable. I'll have to take a look, but will bookmark Filmon.

Thanks again!

Look at those Paul McCartney eyebrows! Were you the band's "eyecandy"? And one more question: Are those folds in the picture, or did someone get mad at you?

You don't have to answer that last one, Russell! wink

Bill

Heh-Heh. Old man that I am, sometimes it takes a while for the penny to drop, Russell, sorry. Here we go and it must have been great playing for Batman!

Grah1,  Easy money, that miming/lip-syncing. I wonder if the audience feels short-changed?

Russell, I got to know them when they wore tunics like a doctor might have worn in the 60's. In fact, there was a whole line of those kinds of shirts launched here in the US. Pretty much al pastel colored. I had 5. High School status symbol. smile Johnny Green. Have I seen that name and The Green Men somewhere? I'm getting a tingle in the grey cells. smile

Thanks, you two!

shaun and Grah,

Man! I sure don't envy you guys' having to deal with that.

Yes, by all means: I'm for music stands for both of you!

Especially now that I've seen the TeleprompTERS!

smile

Bill

Thank you, Doug,

I was able to piece enough stuff from the web together so I could get an idea of what went on in the later years, but from the beginning, Dave (whose band it was, after all) had set himself as the band's manager and producer, so he became their own Brian Epstein.

I think Dave will come out with something soon. I am interested about The Five's early years. They started together in the fifties and I'm curious as to how those years paralleled The Beatles'.

Thanks for having a look!

Some of y'all know about all the "Traveling Salesman" jokes, I hope?

Here's the joke with the premise included.

Traveling salesman's car has broken down, so he walks to a nearby farm, knocks on the door.....

Salesman: Hello, my car's broken down a few miles back, and since it is almost dark, I wonder if you'd put me up for the night?

Farmer; Well, sure, but you'll have to sleep with my son.

Salesman: Excuse me Farmer, but I think I'm in the wrong joke.

It was funny back in the 60's, I promise. smile
