Ill tell you the 50 bucks for the set up will be well spent. OH and from a post on here I am going to follow the advise and change out to the earthwood silk and steel strings for the 12. Just got to get them, I just had new strings put on not too long ago with a set up on my 12, wish I had known about the earthwoods then.

The great thing about Reaper is that it does everything. The biggest drawback to Reaper is that it does everything.
Do you have the manual? It's actually a pretty good couch read, and it's free.
I think so,
it just been a matter of time. also sometimes the instructions dont translate into actual useability for me,, I am the guy who once shown, the light bulb comes on and then I get what the words are trying to describe. Then it all gets easier from there, just the first hurdle is the roughest.

Re: I am wondering what methods Chordie folk are using to record guitar pc (6 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Can anyone recommend a cheap metod to capture my playing on to PC?
I'd like a nice mic on a stand but I'm not too keen to unload too much cash before I have a go on the cheap.
As above, Jerome is a wealth of knowledge and is a MOD for the recording section. As to myself,,, Ill tell you a quick rundown. I too am on the very cheap side of the coin; however I did invest in a few nice but inexpensive goodies. I bought a Berhinger studio mic (around 30 bucks but very good!) and the cable, + a Berhinger 8 channel mixer,, (about 45 bucks) I could get away with a 4 channel but wanted 2 phantom pwr channels. And then the required RCA patches. I run the mixer right into my sound card. This leaves the option open to mix mic and guitar separately into one channel or just use the mic to do the guitar then record vox on a sep track. I use Audacity. I also have Reaper,, but have not figured that one out yet. Jerome will tell you that reaper is the better,, I fully agree with him, I just can’t seem to master it. So Im still hoping for enlightenment on it. For now I use audacity.
Ok that was probably clear as mud, but good luck!

I'm a consensus builder bro. I find ways to come together, not divide. You will see no such refutation. Can't we all just get along?
I thought we were all getting along. We are also expressing the many different views of many different players

Re: Electric vs Acoustic (18 replies, posted in Acoustic)
As much as I respect Jarome and his excelent knowledge,, I have to say the oppisite here. When I was learning on the acoustic,, I got bored and it was harder to get going on. The day I got a electric,, I never put it down. I was able to learn all my open chords faster with less finger pain, I was able to play root 5ths in a day. When I got bored of open chords I could switch to the Dirty channel and bang out power chords all day just having fun. After I got confident with that I found picking up the Acoustic wasmuch easier and I was able to get stuff going on it also.
Once again it boils down to the main answer on this page,, Try both and see what works for you Just keep at it and it will not dissapoint.

At the bottom of your song book you have a view print songbook link. You can then sort order by artist by song and a few other options. this will make it all one document song after song. Works on a windows comp,,, dont know about Mac.

Topic: Another shop bites the dust (8 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Well it pains me to say that my small town just can not support a music store. In the last 5 yrs two seperate attempts have been made. The first one started doing lessons and hopes to add instruments with demand. THis latest started off pretty good. He was selling stuff used and fixing them up pretty nice with what I thought to be deacent prices for the market in town.
Ultimately my biggest problem is, he has dissapeared owing me money or lessons for a drum set we agreed he could sell or trade. He could even satisfy his debt by coming over to the house to give bass lessons to my son for what he owes me.
So, while living in a small town is comfortable, it would be nice if we had a population base that could support a good music store. Now every one who doesnt want to drive 25 miles is still stuck with a pawn shop or two.
Thanks for reading. just had to share my dissapointment.

Re: Changing strings (16 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
OK great topic. Let me ask you experts this. What sound qualities do strings lend? In other words twangy mellow bassy buzzy etc.
In my very short and limited experience I’ve used only medium but found a set of light in the bottom of my draw. I found the lights to be kinda “twangy”
I’ve also read somewhere that some guitars can not take medium or heavy strings because it pulls on the neck to much. (is this true?)
Any time you change string gauge, you need to have your guitar set -up for that type. It determins fret buzz / and action. Remember low action and a little buzzy = fast playability A little higher action = a bit slower playing and a little more finger psi to fret your chord but no buzz, but med to high action is best for bottleneck / slide. Heavy strings usually = thicker heavier tone and yes lighter gets a bit more Tinish / twangy.
I think I got this all right, but If I didn't you can count on someone letting me know LOLOL
